Adiahabasi: So true. Canadianfly comes across as all those. We understand she has lived in England, the US and Canada. She never forgets to remind us. Everybody’s fear is valid. Nobody in their right mind will just plunge at the unknown especially if they have relative security. If you feel the UK vs Canada comparisons are getting out of hand which to an extent I agree. You can draw attention to that without coming across as condescending and leaving a bad taste in the mouth. This thread is nobody’s property and the moderators of course reserve the right to hide any post which they believe to not be linked to the primary purpose of the thread. No need to police grown adults in a rude and curt manner because you do not agree with their own posts. Imagine someone even going as far as accusing dupyshoo of bringing her friends to fight for her!! My God!!! So if people agree with someone else it means she mobilized them to come to the thread and agre with her. Some of us have been on this thread and taking all the information we can to weigh our options. 33 Likes |

LOL! Still can't get over the fact that someone joined NL to reply to my comments. In fact it begs for a speech... I'll like to thank my producer, director, my fans that love me but hate to admit it, the U.K. peeps that feel slighted and the rest of the trolls. *dabs tear* Y'all must really take me that serious to be hyperventilating oh lol. As in lil OL' me...I don't even take myself serious but y'all saw me worthy, chai 6 Likes |

Imagine asking a full grown adult whether she is OK?Just so condescending! Anyway, you can't control what people say but can control your reaction towards them. There is nothing wrong in having a contrary opinion to an argument but pass your message with subtlety. 33 Likes |

Uglyduckling: The problem with Nigerians is y'all can never have an argument without getting sentimental. Y'all attach sentiments to every damn thing. The person who I was having the conversation with, has since gone and didn't even feel slighted by my posts. Trust Nigerians to always channel their inner voltron. You can call me bad taste in the mouth oh, ajala the traveler oh, sarcastic son of a gun oh, condescending homo sapien....take your pick. Doesn't really stop me from having my dinner tonight or posting my views in a anyway I like. In fact welcome to the club, get in line sweetie I still love you 13 Likes |

veleta: Hahahaha my mistake. I didn't know you were a full grown adult . Your original post didn't suggest that, since you started off disagreeing with me and ended up agreeing with me. My bad. However I was honestly concerned when I asked if you were alright, a simple "yes I am thank you" coulda sufficed. Like I said my bad. Your post misled me 4 Likes |

einsteino: 16 Dang Exams. Wetin Happen!!!! I am not sure having COREN or NSE helps in any ways as it is clear they do not value Nigerian formal education. So sad when you consider all what you went through whils in school plus the strikes and what not. Anyone have timelines for start to finish for EIT (APEGA?) |

16 exams? Why na? I went for APEGA as I realised that they accept WES ECA and considering the fact that it is usually the first choice province for Engineers. I started May last year and got my EIT in February this year. I was not told to write any exams. einsteino: 6 Likes 1 Share |

dupyshoo: Hi.. Apart from WES what else did the process include? I find it absurd that all the donkey years of experienced have to be waived to obtain that one year Canadian Expr. O ma ga o. Please share your experience if you dont mind. Thanks |

Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by dupyshoo: 7:07pm On Oct 05, 2017 |
The process is so slow and inefficient. There are several stages involved. Once your WES course by course report is received, it will be reviewed by APEGA staff and then it will be on the queue for academic review. The board of examiner review, which is the last stage is after academic review. Sincerely, it is unreasonable to claim one is not yet an Engineer until you have got 1 year Canadian experience. Also, I don't see why it should take 10 months to verify what WES has verified. TheWatcher212: 2 Likes |

TheWatcher212: I almost asked if his degree lacks some required engineering courses. or maybe he moved from a science degree to a Masters in engineering, that kind of thing. lol all the resources and time invested on NSE and COREN. it is well. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by dupyshoo: 7:08pm On Oct 05, 2017 |
It is course by course they accept not ECA. I had to upgrade my ECA, which was better than asking for transcripts again from OAU. Apology for the misinformation. einsteino: 2 Likes |

dupyshoo:Makes me wonder if APEGA is relatively "more lenient " than the Regina body despite the prolonged processing times. Was thinking it'll be the other way round. Would just tell hubby to go ahead with his APEGA registration jejely and if we later decide on Regina he'll have his APEGA "converted". 1 Like |

Tell him to go for APEGA. I ran from APEGS when I read their requirements and the fact that they might ask me to write some rubbish exams. Not that I am afraid of exams but it was pointless to me. As you rightly said, you can always change from one province to another. Adiahabasi: 2 Likes |

dupyshoo: forgive my numerous questions. Pls how easy is it converting license across provinces? |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by dupyshoo: 7:34pm On Oct 05, 2017 |
I don't think so as I remembered seeing option of having "Licensee". I will advise you just wait till PPR and start the process before landing. einsteino: |

Hi @dupyshoo and @Erhnie. Did you start processing your APEGA after you got PR or you started maybe after you got ITA? I would love if you guys could list out how to start and other steps. Just like they do for the EE thread. Apologies if it's stress. 1 Like |

nkigirl: Hi - I started after I got my PR. I will summarise the steps below; Online application - This is located on the APEGA website. Just google APEGA and the route you are inquiring about is EIT. WES - if you already have a WES ECA report, apply for that to the upgraded to the course by course report required by APEGA. Application form (online) - fill in the form online.. You will need basic information regarding education, employers, work experience etc. You will also need to fill the self declaration form on character and sign electronically. Submit for processing - once you complete your electronic form, you'll be required to pay for the process to begin. Total payment (minus WES fees is $162.72). Your application will not proceed until after payment has been made and after WES has submitted your documents to APEGA. You have 90 days to complete payment and submit all documents else APEGA will cancel your online application and you will have to start again. I will advise you hold on the APEGA payment until WES has completed the upgrade (you'll need to gauge the timing). Application processing - when APEGA has received all docs and payment, they will place you in a queue. You will be assigned an application coordinator who will be in contact with you to help and guide through the process. APEGA review process - your application moves to this phase where the board reviews your work experience, education qualification etc. You maybe asked for further docs. Board of Examiners Review - next phase of review (only God knows what they are reviewing lol) Decision - a decision is made whether to grant licensure, defer licensure or reject application. Post decision - if you do not agree with the decision there maybe options to appeal. Whew - this is the summary at the top of my head. Please refer to the online guide for APEGA for detailed step by step guidance including WES application for APEGA (it's different from normal WES). Again, any questions - give me a shout! 22 Likes 11 Shares |
