IN a concerted effort to overcome the psychological and emotional devastation of the October 7, 1967 massacre in Asaba, the present day capital of Delta State, indigenes of the town have organised a three-day event to celebrate the victims of the horrific event with a focus on forgiveness and rebirth. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/soyinka-duke-kukah-nowdo-others-50th-memorial-asaba-massacre/amp/ 9 Likes 3 Shares

luvinhubby:It is an understatement. I am yet to find a word that can aptly describe the emotionally and psychologically traumatizing act. Indeed, the lands of Nigeria have absorbed so much blood of the innocent and defenseless. "The Federal troops entered Asaba around October 5, 1967 and began ransacking houses and killing civilians, claiming they were Biafran sympathisers. Leaders summoned the townspeople to assemble on the morning of October 7, hoping to end the violence through a show of support for "One Nigeria." Hundreds of men, women, and children, many wearing the ceremonial akwa ocha (white) attire paraded along the main street, singing, dancing, and chanting "One Nigeria." At a junction, men and teenage boys were separated from women and young children, and gathered in an open square at Ogbe-Osowa village. Federal troops revealed machine guns, and orders were given, reportedly by Second-in-Command, Maj. Ibrahim Taiwo, to open fire. It is estimated that more than 700 men and boys were killed, some as young as 12 years old, in addition to many more killed in the preceding days".https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asaba_massacre Lord have mercy. 53 Likes 6 Shares |

And the perpetrators has airports and streets named after them in Nigeria, with the portrait of one of them adorning our currency and you wonder why the value of our Naira keeps depreciating since God knows when. 107 Likes 3 Shares |

This is chilling. The worst of it all being that there was no media coverage. The Federal authorities tried as much as possible to suppress the news but people fleeing Asaba spread the word, and the killings of large numbers of people of Igbo ethnicity substantiated Biafran claims that the war was one of genocide. Researches have equally shown that the killings in Asaba were unprovoked. The Asaba killings raise issues that go beyond the tragedy of one community. The war has left a bitter legacy; many today argue that the violence and ethnic hatred endemic in contemporary Nigeria are partly attributable to an institutionalised unwillingness to come to terms with it. And till date, the endemic hatred still breathes even more healthily. 73 Likes 8 Shares |

The clamour for the acknowledgement of Asaba massacare and an official place in state-history is in the spirit of healing and forgiveness. In this same spirit, this post need to make front page. 12 Likes |

And the animal-of-a-man has institutions named after him. He also has his devilish face on our naira note! Phew!! You see the wickedness and injustice in Nigeria?!? In some other normal countries, this guy would have his name and face revoked from every public property. Talk about this and see how some crazies will come and tell you that you shouldn't talk of the Asaba massacre. They'll say you should forget and move on. Wicked souls! Well, Nigeria will NEVER succeed until these evils are repented of and apologised for. 18 Likes |

Thats what i keep telling those useless sycophant igbos that keeps screaming one nigeria and those that keeps going against their people just to sound politically correct hmmmmm when the chips are down an average gworo eating fulani ak 47 wielding terrorist army wont have time to question your loyalty he'll just butcher you like cow. Just look at these poor souls after dancing to the beats of one nigeria they still go killed because the commanding officer only saw bunch of igbos that deserves to die. I watched one biafra war clip where nigerian soldiers captured one young biafran man that confessed of being a snitch to biafran army according to man he refused to support biafra and instead played snitch to his people. After narrating this to the nigerian officer the white journalists there told those soldiers to take him to their barack and feed him since he has repented. After the journalists left the soldiers tied up the man and shot him point blank dead even after they told the journalists that they wont kill him. I swore that day never to go against my people i rather die like a man than die a coward or snitch Cc Ritababe 59 Likes |

Truly sad......let's not deceive ourselves, this one Nigeria is a joke till we ready. But when? People are still visiting these old soldiers to ask permission for party chairmanship. The military still rules. IBB, Obasanjo, Buhari, Danjuma. No progress till they are gone and there is no god fatherism. Until then we will continue to be in this sorry state. Restructure Nigeria NOW! Every man answer your name. 17 Likes 1 Share |
