I think the result they got against Algeria away got our people all twisted up. But they are forgetting that the current Algerian team is in disarray. Even the Enugu Rangers international can beat them at home. O pari Mujtahida: 3 Likes |

EXCLUSIVE: Struggling Premier League club Everton to recall Onyekuru in January By admin - October 5, 2017, 3:25 pm Struggling Premier League club Everton are set to recall Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru during the January transfer window from Belgian champions Anderlecht, SCORENigeria can exclusively report. After finishing in the top 6 last season, which qualified them for the UEFA Europa League, Everton are going through a rough patch this season following the exit of top scorer Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United. They are now just two points above the drop zone in 16th place with seven points from as many matches amid speculations over the future of manager Ronald Koeman. A source close to Onyekuru has now told SCORENigeria ‘The Toffees’ will recall the striker from his season-long loan at Anderlecht in January. “Henry (Onyekuru) may not be at Anderlecht till the end of the season for the loan as Everton are seriously considering having him back in England in January,” the source revealed. Onyekuru signed a five-year deal with the Premier League outfit, who shipped him out on a season-long loan to Anderlecht thereafter. It was understood that there is a clause in the loan deal that allows Everton to recall him by the next transfer window. He has thus far scored four goals for the Belgian champions. I find it ironic and borderline comical that the Zambian coach, who barely a year ago talked down our team as "relying on kids' as against his experienced warlords, is nowbragging about how youthful his team is. Dude is now a believer in youth.. Iheanacho and Iwobi have succeeded in turning an "Icon4s' into a "thegoodjoe' 15 Likes 1 Share |

HAWKS MONITORING Aidy Boothroyd says Nigeria may swoop for England U21 talent By PA Sport Last Updated: 05/10/17 11:50pm Tammy Abraham recently confirmed he remains committed to England after meeting Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation England U21 manager Aidy Boothroyd says Nigeria could still be trying to take his top talent. The Young Lions manager remains on alert after reports Tammy Abraham was considering switching allegiance to the Super Eagles. Swansea's on-loan Chelsea striker Abraham quickly denied the claims last month and reiterated his commitment to England, while Nigeria also made an approach for Liverpool's Sheyi Ojo last year. Arsenal's Alex Iwobi elected to commit to Nigeria in March 2016 and - ahead of Friday's Euro 2019 qualifier against Scotland in Middlesbrough - Boothroyd conceded the country may try their luck again. "They still might be trying - you don't know - but you can't blame them because they're good players," he said. "These are lads who have played for England who have an affinity with us and a relationship. When it happens with Sheyi I can pick the phone up, the same with Tammy. Alex Iwobi began his international career as a youth with England, but later switched allegiance to Nigeria "It's a hard one. I can't guarantee they are going to play because the group is so good. Tammy didn't start the game before last but that's just one of those things. Perhaps other countries will see that and get into him, promise him the world and get him in the first team. "It's an interesting one [with Abraham]. I saw like you all did on the TV. The good thing is we have a relationship and I can pick the phone up and say 'what's going on mate?' "He laughs and says he doesn't know where it came from but it certainly didn't come from him. Twenty minutes later it comes across in yellow again: 'Tammy Abraham says he's going to play for England'." England U21 face Scotland and Andorra next in their Euro 2019 qualifiers Abraham could spearhead England against Scotland at the Riverside Stadium as they continue their Euro 2019 qualifying campaign, after drawing in the Netherlands and beating Latvia in their opening two games. They play in Andorra on Tuesday in Group Four but Boothroyd is wary of Scotland, who are a point and a place behind his second-placed side. Boothroyd added: "It's not a six-pointer but it's one of those you're desperate to win, and so are they. One, because it's Scotland, and two, because it's the group which won the [Under-20] World Cup [in June], they'll be wanting to get one over on them. It's a bit like 1966 when we won the World Cup." SPORTS Zambia young strikers worry Rohr, Moses warns Eagles Published October 6, 2017 Gernot Rohr Festus Abu and Etim Ekpimah Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr admits he is worried about the plethora of young players, particularly strikers, in the Zambia side scheduled to play the Super Eagles in a Group B Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Saturday. Chipolopolo manager Wedson Nyirenda boasts three young forwards in his 23-man squad for the encounter, which they must win to stand a realistic chance of making it to Russia. The Eagles are in a commanding place to qualify for their sixth World Cup after amassing 10 points from four games to sit atop Group B. Chipolopolo are second in the table on seven points while African champions Cameroon are third on the log with three points. Algeria are last in the group on one point. And Nyirenda, who is attempting to make history by becoming the first coach to steer the East African country to their first World Cup qualification, arrived in Uyo on Thursday with Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka (18), Spartak Moscow forward Fashion Sakala (20) and Orlando Pirates attacker Justin Shonga (20) ahead of Saturday’s clash. Although they are unproven talents, Rohr believes the youngsters could spring a surprise against the Eagles, who need a win to land in Russia. “Zambia has a team with young players, who are quick strikers,” the German coach, who promised that his team would win the clash, told reporters in Uyo on Thursday. However, Rohr, who said he had analysed the opponents, said he would change his tactics when the need arises during the game. The former Burkina Faso manager said, “The style of play in the game against Cameroon is a reference point for us. “We are trying to adopt the same style to some degree for this game, but we know it will be much difficult against Chipolopolo. “When we played in Zambia (Nigeria won 2-1), they watched us and know us too. So, we need to have creativity to change the way we play to be able to surprise them.” Meanwhile, Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses has predicted a tough game against Zambia, saying he can’t guarantee that the Eagles would win the encounter. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, who represented Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, says he expects a tough test from 2012 African champions Chipolopolo. “I can’t guarantee if we are going to beat Zambia or not. To be honest football is sometimes very tricky, you win some, you lose some,” the Premier League winner was quoted by SCORENigeria as saying on Thursday. “We have got quality players who can win us games. As I said before, we are working collectively as a team and as you can see right from the very first day we have shown strength and passion. “We want to make the nation proud, which is very important. http://punchng.com/zambia-young-strikers-worry-rohr-moses-warns-eagles/ 2 Likes |

The need Our support come Saturday... No matter what happens. WE WILL NOT MISTAKES AGAINST ZAMBIA – MIKEL We will not mistakes against Zambia - Mikel We will not mistakes against Zambia – Mikel Posted By: BTEditoron: October 06, 2017 Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel John Obi, has declared that the players have no need to say too much before Saturday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zambia’s Chipolopolo. The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations champions visit the 2013 winners in a match of high importance at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, which should determine the swing of Africa’s Group B ticket to football’s biggest house party in Russia, next year. “We know how important the match is; that is enough motivation to go all out and give our very best. There are several players in this team who have not played at the FIFA World Cup. They want to be there in Russia next year. “The talking will be done on the pitch. I have no doubt we have the quality to achieve victory, but we will not make the mistake of under–rating the Zambians.” The former Chelsea FC of England enforcer said that a good run in the qualifying campaign has been down to focus, determination and massive support of all Nigerians, and believes the same indices are in place for Saturday. “We have played four matches in the campaign so far, but this one is the match. We are fully focused and ready. All we want is the usual support and encouragement by everyone involved, including the fans who will turn out at the match venue http://www.thebreakingtimes.com/we-will-not-mistakes-against-zambia-mikel/ 2 Likes |
