It is simple and clear. Scammers want to get cash for a stolen card they have. They will offer a cheaper ticket in Naira to unaware traveller. The ticket will be purchased with the stolen card "at no real cost to the scammer". Once the theft is reported by the real card owner, the traveller will be the only person available for pick up.
Gurus can correct me if I am wrong, tickets are not cheaper in America. Every airline quotes there prices in Dollars. It is the exchange rate that matters, and in Nigeria, rates are cheaper for Airlines.
So buy from Airlines, trusted sites or ticket agents you know very well.

You are right, ticketing is part of the global economy. Sometimes though airlines have country specific promos: but it is rare that those promos affect tickets originating from a different country. Some airlines will not even allow you buy a ticket online for travel originating from a country other than that from which you are booking.

Thanks alot, we are actually going to Deseney world in Florida but due to fair of unknown we are just contemplating on my going with my boy of 11yrs around early December while my second boy of 9yrs can go with his mother next year. Your explanation is clear. Thanks.

Most airline will even inform you to bring the credit card along just for verification.

Since it's vacation I see no problem here, the secret is explanation and if you have any evidence to back it up the better...

As I have shared my opinion, that also is your opinion, you won't be there when they are asking him what he will do if there's an emergency with only 800 dollars in hand (this is assuming that he has no money in cards, equivalent to 1000 dollars at least). The CBP officer will want to ensure he has enough money, if you go there with just 800 dollars, its risky. Better to hold 1000 dollars in hand, and at least the equivalent of 1000 dollars in the card. If you can't get that amount, maybe you should chill till you do.
$800 is not "Only" it quite a sum, and u said he should hold 3000 dollars , that's what got me alarmed , I held 1200 dollars in cash for a family of 3 and when CBP asked how much I had with me and I said 1200 she was impressed , very impressed in fact , 1000 dollars is a lot of money even in America

So much that can cover for expenses through the duration. No standard amount. The ideal thing is to research living expenses as it relates the state you intend to visit and draw your budget. Also include miscellaneous/emergency (we call it in case of incasecity)

Thanks bros, may God help u, so am good to go with 800$, thanks.
dont let anybody scare you , $800 is sufficient, if CBP asks just say u have $800 in cash and access to much more via your MasterCard .shikena

Bros, hold at least $1500. I generally travel with at least enough money to buy me a one-way ticket back to Nigeria "in case of emergency". Of course, it is your money, you bring it back if your don't spend it and you can change it back to naira when you are back, or return it to the owner, if you borrow the extra cash.
However, if you don't have more than $800 and it conveniently covers your visit, no sweat. Just be ready to explain it at the POE, and pray not to be held for that reason. Some European visas come with a note explaining that you need to carry a minimum amount, without which their border police may choose to send you back.
how do u buy a one way ticket? If u are travelling on a B1/B2 u must buy a return ticket from Nigeria so which emergency warrants buying a ticket again ?/

Sir, feel free to reread my post. I know someone who went to the US with Emirates return ticket but chose to return by the most direct route buying another ticket, as that was the fastest way back home. No one prays for such emergencies, but as the Scouts say "Be prepared."
Besides, I have done ticket changes many times over the years with different airlines and know that change fees and fare differentials can amount to much.

No official No standard. You are only required to prove that you have sufficient plan for yourself and others.

Honestly, I don't know. Just consider drawing up a budget. Plan for everything you may need to pay money for and little extra. You may not be asked.
