My people lemme not lie ehn... grin grin. It was a tension soaked game grin. I missed a large part of the first half cus it was raining and DSTV signal dy f**k up.. ;
Here's my thought on the game..

1) The Zambians were good. I must confess, they gave us a run for our money. speed everywhere. grin That goal they scored might not be an offside though (But I don't care grin). If they keep it up,they might make it to Qatar 2022

2) I never knew that Iwobi had that much speed oo.. grin. . the way he ran at the ball after that Zambia corner gave me joy grin .. His goal was class!! his celebration was wow grin. To be honest he is a sure starter in the team.. he has more footballing brain that Simeon Moses

3) We were wasteful today.. We could have been 2-0 up by half time had we converted our chances.. If not for Onazi injury, Rohr would have brought in Nacho. we can't rely on Ighalo all the time.. he has shown that he is an unreliable striker..

4) Apart from Echijele, our back four are quite solid..Balogun and Ekong are the real deal,no argument grin. And that Shehu should get the hell outta Cyprus grin, I might be wrong tho,but he seem too good to play in that kinda league..

5) Aina got his chance, and he made good use of it . Too bad Moses couldn't convert his cross.. Moses was kinda selfish today though with some unnecessary dribbles. I hope Aina get his chance in hat role against Algeria

6) Mikel is the Igwe grin grin. .I used to be a proud member of the "Slowobi" crew but Mikel's recent performance in the team since Rohr took over has proved me wrong..Currently I don't see any player that can replace him in the SE team.. his leadership quality is another great motivation in the team.

7) I'd like to see this lineup vs Algeria next month..
Alampasu.. Aina ... Awazeim...Agbo...Ebuehi
Etebo.. Ogu...Agu
Onyekuru... Iheanacho... Iwobi

An invitation should be extended to Cyril Desser and Dennis Bonaventure..

I almost slipped on my way back from the viewing center today grin the ground was too slippery..

*Modified*

I think an invitation should be extended to Tiago Ilori too for the Algeria game...Otherwise Baba Ilori(forgiveness) might vex grin grin
We can't rely on Ighalo and Iheanacho. We need to try Cyriel and Bonaventure. Those two have had their chances. We also don't need an Iwobi against Algeria because he has proven himself.

Oh, CAF doesn't like synthetic pitch? So how could the North African countries like Algeria, Tunisia etc host anything? Shebi na only synthetic pitch they have up there because of their weather?

O pari

Icon4s:

Naa...pitches or pitch? Cos they have only one.

Besides that is an astro-turf. Not CAF standard.

Joebie:
Make una no dey use only one match judge. Balogun was beast yesterday, today "he is not good enough."
Shehu nko? Will we not change our opinion again in future?
The fact remains we played under more pressure than the Zambians and it told on many of our players.

With grade A friendlies we will continue building. Now let's see what our bench can offer agains Algeria.
I'm sure Balogun has not played under such pressure today. Pressure from our own expectation and pressure from the Zambians. That's why I feel Iwobi coming in at that time was perfect. He wasn't under pressure at all but I don't think if he had started that pressure would not have gotten to him.

Igahlo does not have any business in that team, I hope rohr give nwekeme chance against Algeria
I sort of disagree.
Ighalo has at least 6/10 to offer.
He was unlucky with has shots. And he wasn't fast for the tap in.

But did u see that dribble? I like that in an attacker, one who isn't afraid to take on defender(s). That's why i like benzema

Like Joebie said, I think it might be good to try out a midfield combination of onazi/ndidi with mikel and iwobi. To be honest Mikel isn't young anymore I don't think he can be running around like the young boys. Probably he should become like a pirlo for us, orchestrating things from a deeper midfield role but with another tireless dmf beside him to do the ball chasing and harassment of opposing team members.

Just a thought.
Very on point. A dmf that has an engine in his chest

Yes I know but you can be sure if it was the other way round they will be all over this place jokes apart the ghanaians have a very good national team africa will be poorer for it if they don't qualify for Russia next year
FIFA should increase Africa's slot to seven. Even these Zambians are good.

At least I gave one chance and you changed the goal post by saying be was still settling. How many years he wan take settle.
Yes he improved as the game wore on but based on the performance we saw, Onazi is still ahead of him head and shoulders which was why even when it was obvious Onazi couldn't continue, Rohr still hesitated to take him out.
Let's give Onazi the respect he deserves and no one should say Rohr isn't a top coach. He isn't a top coach yet he qualified us from a group including Cameroun and Algeria with their better rates coaches with a game to spare.
Winner oooooo, eagles you don win o., winner ,,,,,,,??,,,,

right from the start I said two good chances and you gave only one which was a fortunate shot from distance but still no problem. I also gave much respect to Onazi when I said he is better than Mikel Agu but the simple truth is that in the second half Mikel Agu totally replaced Onazi without any difficulties

Congratulations Nigeria. It is indeed heart warming to see our plan to qualify with a game in hand come together in the end.

I want to also congratulate the Zambians. They made a fist of the game and gave the Eagles a fight for their life. They were in our faces all through and refused to go away.
However, in the end our relative superiority saw us through.

I hope we start making plans to upgrade the team with strategic planning.

Russia here we come.

Of course. But by your standards, is he a Starting XI material? Will you even buy such a player if you were the technical director of a club?
So why not want something better for our darling SE?

The last time Nigeria qualifier for the World Cup with a match to spare was in 1997, during the race for the 1998 World Cup.

We need to also learn how to keep the ball away from opponents to a frustrating point. we need to. If we had, i'm sure the Zambians wouldave gotten tired faster and our players that got tired wouldn't have. Well good acting from Ndidi at dying mins. It used to pain us way back @timewasting, but its sweet doing it for once.

Point of correction Ghana don't currently have a good national team..
I reckon they are going through the usual phase that's common in most national team. They impress then fall, and rise again..
we have seen it in Brazil Germany Spain, Egypt, Nigeria,Cameroon and now Algeria and Argentina..

Breaking news!

I’m serious about this: The Ghana FA has lodged a formal protest with FIFA about the referee’s performance today. They want the game to be replayed.
