SalamRushdie: exactly! if the matter was presented at FEC, it would have been Kachukwu that would have made the presentation on behalf of his ministry. so why would he present something to the FEC & turn around to condemn it? these APC goons are just trying to muddle up the issues. first it was $4b within 6 months of this regime. now another $26b with stories... that's $30b within 2 years that has 'comma' attached 2 Likes |

Sammiejokes: I have read well, have you? There is no way contracts of this magnitude will not pass through the office of the Minister of State of Petroleum. If it doesn't then the so called reforms being done in the Petroleum sector has been just a sham. But if it did, then the head of that office is telling you that due process wasn't followed! Him being his boss is not even the issue. Tomorrow if another party takes over and then the contracts worth $26 b couldn't be substantiated, guess who the then Deziani will be. Let me help you answer, Ibe Kachukwu. Why? It's still folks like that will be quick to answer "because he was minister of state of Petroleum" and guess what? You will be right #Think 1 Like |

seunmsg:This entire saga is not unrelated to the absolute powers Buhari has given his almighty chief of staff. He appointed him to the board of the NNPC for nepotic reasons. This contract scandal has just exposed the breach of due process and conflict of interest inherent in Abba Kyaris membership of the NNPC board. From the looks of things, Baru sidelined the Minister of state and went directly to Abba Kyari to seek approval for those contracts. Kyari tabled them before the FEC and claimed "The president has approved" when the President was on his sick bed in London. Those 2, Kyari and baru are collaborating to undermine due process and the rule of law. 3 Likes |

datola: Baru is a technocrat with far more hands-on experience in the oil industry than Kachikwu. He is an engineer with Ph.D in mechanical engineering. The problem is that Kachikwu has realised that the GMD's role carries more weight and more decision-making powers, than the Minister-of-State's role. That is what is causing this bad belle. If I were Buhari, I would replace both of them for causing this fiasco. Dr. Maikanti Baru was GED, Exploration & Production of NNPC, Managing Director of Hyson, Executive Director of Nigerian Gas Company (NGC), General Manager – Gas Division of NAPIMS, Manager – Operations, Procurement Management Services and Manager – Engineering for National Engineering and Technical Company Limited (NETCO). During his initial stint with NAPIMS which spanned from July 1993 to July 1999, Dr. Baru executed several Gas projects which are utilizing billions of standard cubic feet of gas per day. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Yusman316:Kyari has not a member of the FEC. He only observes proceedings as an appointee of the President who is the chairman of the FEC. Just like the Secretary of a CEO that attends board meetings and sits on the table but is not a member of the board. Kyari does not have any constitutional right to present memos to the FEC. If the President is too sick to present or approve memos, his Vice is constitutional empowered to take his place, not his chief of staff. 2 Likes |

A Near-Perfect #Chronology Muhammadu Buhari started his anti corruption crusade with $2.1bn Dasukigate, Sambo Dasuki was arrested, Raymond Dokpesi, Fani Kayode, Musuliu Obanikoro, Olisa Metuh, and Reuben Abati were also arrested in connection with Dasukigate. While the government was busy wanking and masturbating with the gale of arrests and media frenzy that trailed the episodic drama, Dasuki opened up that Buhari also benefited from the $2.1bn arms fund, Dasuki reveled that he bought 2 bulletproof SUVs for Buhari from the money, he also gave him $300,000 from the same money. But Buhari denied collecting any money from Dasuki, he said he only got 2 bulletproof SUVs form him as his entitlement being a former head of state. Muhammadu Buhari forgot that former heads of state entitlements have never come from the office of the NSA before but office of the SGF, they said those accusing Buhari are the corrupt people fighting back. And that was how Dasukigate died a natural death. The allegation of MTN N500m bribery scandal involving Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari popped up. Tukur Buratai's multi million dollars Dubai mansions were uncovered. Abdurrahman Dambazau arms procurement fraud was reveled. Rotimi Amaechi's several attempts to bribe Supreme Court justices to give APC favorable election judgment were exposed. Kayode Fayemi's corruption allegation also came up, but Buhari shamelessly told the whole world that all the corruption allegation leveled against people in his government are false because he checked them before appointing them. Then the Senate exposed how the then SGF, Lawal Babachir used N270m to cut grass in IDP camps, Buhari's government cleared him of any wrong doing, the government also cleared Ibrahim Magu of the weighty corruption allegations leveled against him, in fact, Muhammadu Buhari officially wrote the Senate that both men are clean. Then when Ikoyi orphaned money once again exposed how corrupt this government is, he suspended Babachir that he cleared twice of the same allegation. Up till this moment the report of the probe panel is not known to the public. A witness told the court that Buhari's lawyer who was representing him in the certificate suit gave the presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola N500,000 at the period the case was still on but they said it wasn't a bribe but a gift. Just recently one of Buhari's ministers, Ibe Kachikwu tactically exposed the biggest single corruption case in the history of this country, a whooping $25bn fraud in a government of saints? If Buhari that is the petroleum minister can approve contracts worth $25bn without due process and transparency, then why are we still talking about anti graft war under this government? There is a whole lot of looting massively going on in this government but the only corrupt people they know are Jonathan's men. By Calito Felipe 1 Like |

SBG04: It will be procedurally wrong for the COS to table such memo before FEC when there is a supervising minister in the ministry. Even if that is the case, Kachikwu should be aware of the FEC approval and he wouldn't have written about the lack of it in his leaked memo. |

Some of the awarded contracts would not even be executed after money is released. Or are you saying you don't know this? Whether it takes 20yrs or more for contract execution to be completed, the fraud also takes 20yrs to run its full cycle. |

I hope everybody can see that there are no real patriots on nairaland, and most are just compromised lackeys. Somebody called deji brings a report from an unknown reporter and bears it as fact with paid lackeys rising to the defense. Given the obvious ethnic cum regional slant of the ensuing fracas in the NNPC, how can anybody with a brain just believe any nonsense from unknown sources.? We have a seasoned oil and management professional who is the minister for state deliberately side-lined in the awarding of a 25billion dollar contract- and some people find nothing wrong with that. The fact that he was effectively demoted from a position of effectiveness does not ring bells at the obvious conspiracy at work here.? Unscrupulous Yoruba animals on nairaland (most of whom are utterly wretched) defending corruption- And these useless people will open their rotten mouths to accuse others of corruption and defending corruption. na God go punish all of una. With patriots like these Yoruba clowns, who needs traitors? |
