forgiveness:It's like there's somebody making sure that once you mention a foreign born that player never gets invited. So my advice is that you should not mention their names and I promise you they will be invited. 1 Like |

Ighalo was impressive yesterday, only that he didn't score. Did anyone notice, he was trying to pull off a similar thing that lead to our only goal in Yaounde. Coincidentally, it was Moses Simon again who was meant to finish it, but the latter's overambitious bicycle kick sent the ball wide. komekn: |

The other part am talking about is Nigeria government... Before you know now.. Money will be earmark for Super eagles for the preparation.. Will they release the money to appropriate quarters..? We don't know.. Dream team comes to my mind... |

Kog45: For the no 9 slot, Ighalo, Iheanacho, Martins, Kayode, Nwakaeme, Dessers, Dennis Bonaventure, Olayinka, Awoniyi, Osimhen, Ideye and Tammy Abraham are all in contention provided any of them do well this season. No favourism or sentiment should be attached to selection to the world Cup. You do well you are in but if you no do well you are out. 2 Likes |

Joebie:I've maintained that Ighalo played well only he wasn't clinical cos he wanted to do it fancifully rather than keep it simple like Iwobi. One thing worries me though: we don't score from outside the 18yard box. All our goals have come from within the box. Our rate of converting free kicks is zero, from corners just one. We need to improve on all these. |

Mujtahida:it come on us sooner than we expect if the team continues to impress. Did you see those flags..? Sincerely I was blown away. I was once again proud to be a Nigerian. Early last yr, most ppl I meet at the viewing centers for Nigeria matches are the elders(mostly in their 50s and above). But I couldn't believe what I've been seeing of recently. Yesterday's own was more or less like a Champions league game. Come see how people come shout for goal as if se we won a major trophy. To my suprise I left people seated still watching the celebration. All I did was SMILE. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 7:48pm On Oct 08, 2017 |
No I don't think he wanted to do it fancifully. I think he was under pressure, and wanted a sure sight at goal. He was not alert to convert half chances. The one Simon played to him, he should have anticipated it to go that direction, when Simon raced to lay the pass. Clinical forwards would have sprinted fast to connect it. Mweene would have been left helpless. Another case in point was when the ball fell to his left leg. He tried to settle to take the shot with his right, and a Zambian defenders caught up with him. Then there was this half chance he missed in the first half. I think he was not as daring for goals as he was against Cameroon in Uyo. And I will attribute that to the pressure he had to score. Ighalo is a very fine forward. He showed it in the EPL. But he somehow bows out to pressure when lots of expectations are put on him. I think he needs a special psychologist to work with him.
