Egypt's last world cup outing was about 3 decades ago? Quite a fascinating revelation!

Bro, not me! As for me, 99.9% of the blame belongs to Pinnick. I even tweeted him a few times on twitter (along with that naija BBC reporter) to keep his moves on the down low....we don't wanna alert the English FA so they go ahead and cap him right away. But he ignored me because he needs his photo ops.

And as for the Oluwashina Okeleji somebody (the BBC reporter), I got into a twitter shouting match with him sef. But he kept on doing his thing because he wanted to report his scoop. That being selfish! That's unpatriotic!

so nah to blame PINNICK abi,

what about that mugu reporter, who put a spinner in the works,
me and you both know, even here in this very thread, many of us will be asking for a prove that he was in a meeting with tammy,

and to me, PINNICK deserves respect and a pact on his back,

I wonder if Ghana will still go ahead with their appeal after Egypt's win...it's totally pointless now. A replay will only give Uganda more impetus to win and drag this to the last day

He who has no sin cast the first stone. I am sure that if we all got to see ourselves at 21 there would be a few embarrassing details. Now imagine adding 30k a week to that and we have recipe for disaster. Lets not forget that this boy does not have a known father figure in his life. Losing Ighalo really set him back because he doesn't have a mentor @ Watford any more IMO.

LAGOS WANTS SUPER EAGLES BACK

JUNE 12, 2017 6:31AM

BY BOLAJI OKUNOLA.

As Nigerians still feel the pains of a home loss to South Africa in the race to 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, opinions are being shaped on the future of the Super Eagles in the next assignments.

A somewhat crisis situation analysis meeting is scheduled to hold on Tuesday as the Nigerian sports minister, Solomon Dalung, meet with the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Before then, another meeting of the NFF Technical Committee will also hold with the technical adviser, Gernot Rohr in attendance.

Meanwhile, an official of the Lagos State Government, Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye who is a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on sports told Sports Village Square that the NFF should consider returning the national team to its city of birth, Lagos.
He re-echoed the voice of Governor Ambode who had earlier in year while inspecting the derelict Lagos National Stadium called for the return of the Super Eagles to Lagos and that his government was ready to acquire and repair the fast degenerating Federal Government facility.

Adeboye explained to Sports Village Square that a good team should be able to win anywhere, especially within its national borders, but conscious efforts should also be made to maximise home advantage.

To him, Lagos offers that maximum advantage to the Super Eagles, considering the large football followership that the city commands and the enthusiasm shown when supporting teams.

“I realise Lagos fans are all willing to see Super Eagles play in the city state. In those days, no major team challenged the Super Eagles at home and go scot free not to talk of minors. Lagos remains the slaughter slab of visiting teams”, remarked Adeboye.

“We have good soccer pitch here at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and I am confident the Surulere National stadium will soon be in right order to host the giants of African football like it used to be in those days.”
Lagos last hosted the full strength Super Eagles on January 13, 2001 when the team beat Zambia 1-0 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The other matches played in April 2004 were in the experimental LG Cup tournament in which Nigeria and the other participating team, Jordan and Senegal fielded second-string sides.

Based on your criteria, that means he is not good enough for selection because we must only select players performing in their clubs.

No I used the term "ceterus paribus " all things being equal.

Moses did not fit into the plans of Brendan Rogers and his style of play he was also got injured so it was a difficult period. Brendan in a sense messed up the careers to some degree of Balotelli and Benteke full fledged proven and tested top quality strikers.

So you have to put things in balance Moses had already proven himself a top player at Palace and Wigan and in brief moments at Liverpool and Stoke but was not getting enough game time.

There was nothing to prove he had already been accepted as one of the best wingers in the EPL.

Ighalo was also slow to the ball. He was behind the pace of the forwards. That was a big challenge yesterday. He is the kind of striker who does not attack spaces with his pace.

He does not make a good fit for an offensive strategy.

I have never regarded Ighalo as slow.

When he was at Watford he was often described as a pacy and very strong striker.

On the contrary KC has been described as being off the pace although it was in comparison to Sane Gabriel and Raheem who are arguably the fastest trio in the EPL.

Meanwhile I am not sure KC is actually faster than Ighalo. Unless you mean speed of thought and anticipatory reaction. I still cannot conclusively say who is fastest in all contexts.

The re signing of wilfred Boney has changed that.

Absolutely not, firstly nearly all games this season Tega has started secondly Bony is snail pace slow and slows the entire team down.

Tega combines with Jordan Ayew with Tega as point man.

Forget fancy footwork and tiki taka, this is the true beauty of football. The fans, the stadium, the atmosphere, that is what I find most attractive in the sport.

Congratulations once again to beautiful Egypt, that is the real blood, sweat and tears that deserves a World Cup slot.

Hopefully, Senegal will be next....but nothing can beat this Egyptian celebration

Blood of Jesus!

why isn't Iwobi on loan?

Tottenham midfield Sissoko, Lamela, Dembele , Wanyama, Dier, and Eriksen all of them are full fledged top level internationals. Who are all better than him in my opinion.

Arsenal Mesut Ozil, the only player clearly better than Iwobi. Cazola (injured), Ramsey, Wilshire, Elneny, Xhaka, Coquelin. Simply put there isn't much in Iwobi way.

I think Iwobi as a winger is better than Tega I think he may be faster as well.

However, as a unselfish midfielder that keeps the engine room running box to box, distributing the ball accurately with precision and no unnecessary show boating that can score. He Tega is very effective nit that pleasing on the eye but get the job done with very effective end product.

They ate different players to be honest.

When you look at money spent on all those players Sissoko was £30 million plus, Wanyama £10 million plus and Dembele £ 15 million plus. To be honest in today's market they will be all in the range of well above £25 million. Football politics in Tottenham will suggest he cannot overthrow those guys.

Going on loan is the best for him now, then he can prove himself and later fight for a first team position. Harry Kane went on loan everywhere and did not break in until well over 21 plus. Now he is England's number one striker.

Joel Obi is true tested and proven quality he should have been invited to camp ages ago. Now we are looking at essentially youth players to under study Mikel.

Mikel Agu and Nwakali are far behind Joel Obi in my opinion.

Iheanacho is faster than Ighalo. If you watch the counterattack combinations with Kevin De Bruyne and Sterling last season, you can immediately tell Ighalo can not keep up with that kind of pace. Ighalo is not built that way. In that game, Ighalo could not attack the spaces with pace.

So the judging with club performance is not best in finding out. Victor Moses was lucky Roberto Martinez, to some extent Benitez and Villas-Boas showed that Victor Moses was quality if he had met such brickwall earlier, he would have been dropped.

Select a large pool and do a thorough screening. Best way to limit the bias.

you seems to forget something else,

nothing wrong with sitting deep, with a lone man, or playing offensive, with your man attacking space with pace,

the most important thing in strategy, is playing to the rules spelled out, accordingly, and in so doing you have to bring ur man strength into consideration,

so wether we are sitting deep or not, any strategy withou considering the strength of our player is null and void

GERRIT grin

If that is the way Rohr chose to go by Playing compact and leaving a lone workhorse up front, it is okay. However, back to my earlier point, I will always pick a striker who attacks spaces with pace over a workhorse because I always favor and offensive strategy. Always.

This should be a motivation to our young players. Stay focused and work hard. Then you can achieve extraordinary things. There was a time Sane was a bench man at City. Now he broke an EPL record. That is the way to go. Not Baileys and Oloshos.
