See all this DC guys should give it a rest. U know something is better u still come looking for quarrel. First the DC series has no connection to the DCEU which gives them liberty to any character even Superman. Same can't be said of the Marvel series but yet they still manage to shine through. And anybody who can call LukeCage and the Defenders a flop no offense got no clue. So keep coming back with the same cheesy line of excuses and we would keep crushing you critically and financially.

yeah, but that's still a poor performance for a spidey film after all the hype. Most analysts thought it would be in the ranges of 1.5billion.

poor performance? Haa! This the highest grossing Spider-Man movie and no, nobody expected it to gross up to a billion not to talk of 1.5billion.

Lol. If we ask him now to provide links/proof of those "analysts" that were expecting it to gross 1billion, he probably would start stammering.

I just checked sef. Homecoming(a Spiderman reboot o cheesy) grossed more than Man of Steel, BvS(by a few million), Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman(few million as well). But...but Homecoming had a poor performance..

I did not dispute the fact that it's the highest grossing. But if u consider the fact that the first spiderman movie of 2002 made 820M at a time when superhero movies were at a low and most international markets like China were negligible, u can then understand my point. Besides if u adjust for inflation, it's still below all the original spidey films.
It's even more disappointing that the studios had to lure in more popular figures like the Ironman and Captain America and yet still the movie struggles just to make it to 900M.

I still don't get how a movie that made over 800m is seen as poor and disappointing. This movie has been rated by critics and fans alike as the best Spider-Man movie ever. If not anything this movie proved the naysayers who thought war of the planet of apes and Dunkirk will crush it at the box office and also it showed that marvel knows what it is doing. Remember this is the 3rd reboot of the Spider-Man franchise in the 21st century, it's truly remarkable that this movie is despite all the criticisms and hate was both critically and financially successful. And iron man wasn't just there to beef up the bank account, he played a pivotal role in Peter's life just like uncle Ben.

No one said it was a bad movie, nor did anyone say it wasn't a financial success. It just didn't meet the expectations of most people. It deserved to be in the billion dollar club. Just imagine if the next Avatar movie only makes 900M total. It would considered a financial success but yet at the same time a disappointment. Spiderman as a franchise is more marketable that any other marvel character and as such, the expectations for his first solo movie under Marvel studios were huge.

no it wasn't expected to make up to a billion unless you got credible sources to back your claim up. Tracking the way marvel rolls, the 3rd part of the trilogy is usually the movie with the billion dollar expectations not the first one. You can't compare the avatar scenario to this since no Spider-Man movie ever has made up to 900 million not to talk of a billion dollars.

I dread the moment Thor 3 and JL come out and we start another war about which made more money, like who cares? All I wanna know is how come it took both Wonder Woman and Captain America to stop Hitler from winning the war?

Err...Norman4real... you're talking about a struggling 900M box office, what did BvS make again? Homecoming was never going to make a billion. Anybody that was expecting that was being either very optimistic or delusional. It's the 3rd reboot of a franchise that isn't even 20 years old.

Unlike BvS that was certainly expected to make a billion, with all the marketing, pre-booking, the fact that it's practically two of comics' biggest assets, plus the first film appearance of WW - making it the first live action appearance of the DC Trinity, it was expected to do wonders. So abeg, all this your talk ain't necessary.

Marvel is killing it! Thor Ragnarok is currently on 98% on RT. That's the highest for any comic book movie. Here's the Critic Consensus: "Exciting, funny, and above all fun, Thor: Ragnarok is a colorful cosmic adventure that sets a new standard for its franchise -- and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe"

They're calling it the best Thor movie, the funniest Marvel movie.... I didn't think I could get any more excited. I think we'll all look back at this period as fans and realize how incredibly lucky we were.

My only question is does anyone know the release date in Nigeria? I tried searching Silverbird's site but couldn't find anything

DC movies are not doing poor yet even with all the critics, would love to see a marvel movie get better ratings than the Dark knight, now that film is the gold standard and has a cult following
