Aina is a temporary fix for LB. we've seen someone better than fry pan (Echiejile).
As regards scouting, we already know our options. All we need to do is make the move, get them, and let's see if they can even beat Aina at LB. if not they are not good enough o.. Aina for now is our wing back -- both left and right. With the little i've seen of him, I rate him higher than "you know who"

Aina can be a permanent solution on the left. He is young and is comfortable playing there.

Ben Iroha was a natural right footer but was Nigeria's left back for a long time.

"Rohr must invite only players who fit his world cup plan" --Seconded

Amuneke: Rohr Must Invite Only Players Who Fit His World Cup Plan

Peter Oriaku

By Johnny Edward:
Former Super Eagles assistant Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has called on Gernot Rohr to call up players who only can adapt to his football philosophy to boost his squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.‎com reports.

Several players who didn’t feature during the World Cup qualifiers have been rumoured to make a return, but Amuneke advises that the new players must offer more than what the players in the current squad have.

“Anybody can play for the Super Eagles, but the players coming in must be able to adapt,” Amuneke told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Amuneke who will attend the FIFA football awards in London next week praises Rohr for the success of qualifying for the Mundial but charges that his team must be ready to take on the World next summer.

“The most important thing is that Nigeria won,”he told Completesportsnigeria.com shortly after his arrival from India where he was on a FIFA assignment.

“I saw the game and I think they did well. In a game like that, you just need to win, and that was why the aesthetic of the game was obviously missing.

“Now that they have qualified, the team must be ready to take on the World. The likes of Italy could not qualify automatically, that shows you the gap between the small teams and the big ones is closing gradually.”

43' - Ighalo with a half-chance under pressure from Tembo, but he volleys off target.

71' - A great counter attack for Nigeria, but Ighalo opts to try and cut back rather than shoot first time and the move breaks down!

Unfortunately, I do not rewatch matches to start highlighting times of incidents. However, this will give you a clue.

How is that chance an half-chance??

There's no way ighalo would have scored that goal without trying to cut back.

I strongly believe that Rohr has an idea of what his final 23-man squad, or 30-man preliminary squad will look like.

These players: Osimhen, Ebuehi, Joel Obi (if fit), Nwaekaeme, Akpoguma, Ajiboye, and Onyekuru; would be added to the 23 players called up for the Zambia game.

I don’t see Enyeama returning to the team, although if he plays at the World Cup he will become the first Nigerian to play in 4 World Cups.
The 3 keepers would be Ikeme, Ezenwa, and Alampasu. If Ikeme doesn’t recover on time, then Ajiboye gets the nod.

I feel good about today's game. The Zambians have no chance whatsoever to take away even a point from this.

At the 2013 nations cup the Zambians came in as defending champs, all pumped up and very boastful against an uncertain Super Eagles side, they only managed to pull a draw courtesy of a free gift from the referee. It must be said at the time, Kalusha Bwaya was a strong man in CAF.
Anyone who follows African football knows how muddy the CAF political climate can be.

These days, Kalusha's influence have weaned, we have seen the rise of Amaju Pinick to the CAF high table. Our last game against Cameroon, I saw more than a few 50/50 calls go our way. Today won't be any different.
We are beating Zambia by a 2-3 goal margin qith Victor Moses opening the floodgates from the penalty spot.

Someone bookmark this. I will be happy to be called out if this doesn't come to pass (very much unlikely).

my people won't like it if i dont quote this

but not the way you do nacho

I believe our nine role will fall to Osimhen in the future and Nacho will play behind him. I hammer in Nacho because for now, he is our most lethal finisher and I do not fancy leaving the most lethal finisher from the squad or playing a system that does not fit him.

At least I still made reference to Nigeria in that post.

You cannot be playing against teams like Brazil, Germany, France, Spain etc and come all out offensive. You'll get punished.

We do not have the equality to match there's so we have to remain compact and avoid being over-run and then hit them on the break. That is the way to play such teams.

We have the quality to match them but we have chose to neglect developing our players to suit the system. That is why I am always against Conservative play because it defeats the ability to grow as a team.

Your first three paragraph are a gem. Mikel Agu will come good in that role as a direct replacement for Onazi in the future unless perhaps a better replacement is found.

On Onazi the question is how is it that he keeps retaining his place? Doesn't the Coach see what you see? He bombed forward against Cameroon and we scored. I think he's doing something right based on the instructions of the coach which you ain't privy to.

I have always had same sentiments with Goodjoe as regards having that defence shield whose job description is basically restricted to shielding the defence.

Onazi can't do that, he'd rather be offensive (not that it's a bad thing though) bit we need someone like Wanyama of Tottenham, Calvaho of Portugal.

Ogu would have fitted perfectly into that role, the only problem is his lack of pace. We have Agu whom we all agree still has wet ears.

Honestly, Onazi playing that way and keeping his shirt is something I find baffling. I would have said may be that is what the coach wants but Mikel Obi scolding Onazi on the field in the friendly game against USA showed it is not just following coaches instructions.

When Mikel Agu got it right, the Zambians lost gaps to mount a credible attack. We were more solid at back compared to when the defence had no shield.

We need to sort it out if we are to make an impact in the World Cup.

Busquets, Fernando and Mikel Obi play the Shield role without relying on pace. With intelligence to read game plays and good positioning, a DMF without pace can still do a solid job. However, the less pace requires a heightened intelligence.

If Tammy is that good why is he not banging in goals?

We have many good upcoming strikers who need this chance than Tammy. The best for him at the moment is England U21 team, A choice he has made which should command our respect. It is not as if taking Tammy to Russia 2018 will guarantee a Quarter Final Stage for us. We need go with those whose hearts are 100% with us. Besides, I rate Dressers, Osimhen, Kayode and co highly. If you don't give them the chance, you won't know how prolific they are.
I am so sure that before the World Cup begins, a good number of our forwards would have done a lot for us to forget about Tammy.

We keep attacking Onazi unnecessarily here. The whole team was jittery earlier in the match not just Onazi, even Balogun was exposed for his lack of pace on 2 occasions.

If you watch the Cameroon match in uyo again you will notice, we also did not start well but settled down as the game progressed. We ended up defeating them comfortably.

So forget, our improved performance in the second half was not down to anything special from Agu.

On the website you are copying the story from, right click on the picture and click on "open image in new tab" (may vary depending on your browser). when the pic opens in a tab, copy the url. Paste on Nairaland where exactly you want it. then wrap it with the img tags..
(select the entire pasted url and click on that image button on the menu above), or you can do it manually. Just type [img] to open, and [/img] to close it.. DONE
