Joebie: Aina can be a permanent solution on the left. He is young and is comfortable playing there. Ben Iroha was a natural right footer but was Nigeria's left back for a long time. 1 Like |

I strongly believe that Rohr has an idea of what his final 23-man squad, or 30-man preliminary squad will look like. These players: Osimhen, Ebuehi, Joel Obi (if fit), Nwaekaeme, Akpoguma, Ajiboye, and Onyekuru; would be added to the 23 players called up for the Zambia game. I don’t see Enyeama returning to the team, although if he plays at the World Cup he will become the first Nigerian to play in 4 World Cups. The 3 keepers would be Ikeme, Ezenwa, and Alampasu. If Ikeme doesn’t recover on time, then Ajiboye gets the nod. |

do4luv14: I believe our nine role will fall to Osimhen in the future and Nacho will play behind him. I hammer in Nacho because for now, he is our most lethal finisher and I do not fancy leaving the most lethal finisher from the squad or playing a system that does not fit him. 1 Like |

Icon4s: We have the quality to match them but we have chose to neglect developing our players to suit the system. That is why I am always against Conservative play because it defeats the ability to grow as a team. |

Mujtahida: I have always had same sentiments with Goodjoe as regards having that defence shield whose job description is basically restricted to shielding the defence. Onazi can't do that, he'd rather be offensive (not that it's a bad thing though) bit we need someone like Wanyama of Tottenham, Calvaho of Portugal. Ogu would have fitted perfectly into that role, the only problem is his lack of pace. We have Agu whom we all agree still has wet ears. 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:00pm On Oct 10, 2017 |
Mujtahida: Honestly, Onazi playing that way and keeping his shirt is something I find baffling. I would have said may be that is what the coach wants but Mikel Obi scolding Onazi on the field in the friendly game against USA showed it is not just following coaches instructions. When Mikel Agu got it right, the Zambians lost gaps to mount a credible attack. We were more solid at back compared to when the defence had no shield. We need to sort it out if we are to make an impact in the World Cup. |

junnyjake: Busquets, Fernando and Mikel Obi play the Shield role without relying on pace. With intelligence to read game plays and good positioning, a DMF without pace can still do a solid job. However, the less pace requires a heightened intelligence. 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: We keep attacking Onazi unnecessarily here. The whole team was jittery earlier in the match not just Onazi, even Balogun was exposed for his lack of pace on 2 occasions. If you watch the Cameroon match in uyo again you will notice, we also did not start well but settled down as the game progressed. We ended up defeating them comfortably. So forget, our improved performance in the second half was not down to anything special from Agu. 3 Likes |

if someone has not already told you, let me show you the trick. On the website you are copying the story from, right click on the picture and click on "open image in new tab" (may vary depending on your browser). when the pic opens in a tab, copy the url. Paste on Nairaland where exactly you want it. then wrap it with the img tags.. (select the entire pasted url and click on that image button on the menu above), or you can do it manually. Just type [img] to open, and [/img] to close it.. DONE soetanoreoluwa: 2 Likes 1 Share |
