LagosismyHome:The main reason outside world have negative thoughts about Nigeria specifically is they know the country is messed up big time. In every embassy or consulate, there are multitudinal visa applications. US alone is 4,000+ everyday. Then multiply that by 64,000. |

Ubah1:Wait you have this GPA and you are not getting it right on a 'straight line' you want to move 'zig zag'? Ah..You better go and write GRE and apply to top 20 schools in Chemical Engineering and by the way, Writting Gre in Dec might be late for good schools, except you are planning for fall 2019. i just googled the school now and I cant really say its a good engineering school or not. If your dream is chemical Engineering and not aeronautical, please go and write GRE and apply to a proper good chemical engineering school. Many people missed it in life because of wrong step which takes years to retrace. Dont allow your village people to win this war. The school might be good in aeronautical but I cant say the same for chemical engineering. 4 Likes |

femi312: My point exactly! It pains me when I see great profiles (GPA and GRE) applying to lowly ranked schools. With good admission packaging, a Nigerian with 3.7/4 should join a top 20 school. 1 Like |

Sanctus1:All you need to do is make sevis payment in the next link after receiving your i20 (https://www.fmjfee.com), note that the SEVIS cant be paid in Nigeria, someone abroad has to make the payment for you after you have filled the sevis coupon in that link, then fill the Ds 160 form ( https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/) and lastly schedule for visa interview here https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=Nigeria 7 Likes 2 Shares |

PrinceDekunle: I totally relate bro; so true. And let me say this to all applicants, if you want to succeed here academically, you need to be prepared to work harder than you have ever done. Schooling here (if it's a good, well-ranked college) will test your limits repeatedly. In Nigeria 70 marks is A. In the US, 70 is a C. 90 is A (in my school at least, I'm guessing it's so for other US colleges). No, nothing is watered down. And there are no corners to cut - you either know your stuff or you may have to drop the class. The only preparation Nigerian schools give one is the ability to endure large amounts of stress without imploding. So in a place like US where there is order and decorum, things work out better when planned. Now, If this sounds like discouragement to you, then you are not ready. Nigerians here and in many parts of the country top their various classes. Decide now to become part of the trend. 12 Likes 1 Share |

DeeTus: A country's evaluation is different from that of an arbitrary individual. That some people in our govt are wallowing in corruption and incompetence and pulling the honest efforts of others down with it, is no basis for someone to imply that ALL Nigerians are crooks or dishonest folks. No country's govt is actually perfect. Besides, many people of other nationalities here wouldn't want to relocate to their country too, developed or not. So again, it's not a Nigerian thing. It's a highly subjective and discretionary decision per individual. 8 Likes |

I have flown Ethiopian airline twice to Washington dulles. Aircrafts are new and okay, hostesses are polite, airport at Addis ababa ain't fantastic (slightly better than Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport Abuja or on the same level), food isn't nice (in my opinion ) . But you can ask for soda, tea, juice and alcohol as many times as you want (for those who want). imperiouxx: |

femi312: Thanks for this awesome reply. I planned switching to chemical engineering with the tops schools. But I want to enter US, then switch. Fall 2018 is still very far to keep staying here in Nigeria. That's why am asking if it's easier switching over there if one travels with another course of study. Ogas in the house, please enlighten me. Thanks |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by femi312: 5:35pm On Oct 13, 2017 |
Ubah1:No its not possible, Even if that is possible, its more stressful and not economical. You still have to apply the same way you would have applied from Nigeria. Your best bet is to apply from Nigeria, the time you used in applying to the previous school, you should have used it to chase what you really wanted. If you cant write GRE before November ending, then forget top schools for Fall 2018 and start planning towards Fall 2019. There is no short cut to success, it requires planing and handwork. |

I flew from Enugu to Washington dulles both times. Flights was Enugu - Addis ababa (layover) - Dublin Ireland- washington dulles. Total flight time was about 25hrs. The stop at Dublin was to refuel the aircraft. We didn't disembark from the aircraft. On the return leg, we didn't stop over at DUblin. It was just Washington dulles - Addis ababa- Enugu. Total flight time was an out 19 hours, 40 minutes. (quote author=imperiouxx post=61389225] Thank you. Round trip from U.S that I see, they will go through Lome, Benin.[/quote] |

Ubah1: although tight if you write GRE in December you can still make funding for some schools for fall 2018... you just need to do all the background work now and know all your waiting for is just to send the GRE scores regarding switch scratch that and try to get it right from beginning. nice GPA bytheway |
