It would be nice to have him as a back-up for Leon but we also need J.Torunarigha and Dominic Iorfa Jnr before the WC.

We don't need all of them.

Rohr will limit his selection to a pool of 30-35 players.

I pray and hope things have changed I remember very clearly that match bonuses were being paid in cash not into the specific bank accounts of players.

I wonder why These practices are clearly indicative of the rampant culture of corruption and other sharp practices.

Even settling flight costs to players was rife with problems.

These intended problems are wilful and not just coincidental negligence.

IT HAS TO STOP players should be motivated, appreciated and an environment devoid of sharp practices and with open accountability is a first step.

Our qualification has galvanised the whole nation and I just pray we surprise ourselves by preparing well for the tourney in accordance with international best practices - hotels, flights details and ticketing, friendlies, beefing up the support staff, pr, more lucrative sponsorship and partnership deals etc.

We need to strengthen our back-line with good back-ups who will compete for starting Shirts.

Modified:In 2014 France came-up with a plan after watching our previous game, which was to pay "special attention" to Onazi. When Onazi got injured there was no capable replacement for him, which cost us a quarter-final finish.

I think oga michael took the criticism too far though...
I am not just too comfortable wit rohr conservative approach...
...had it been he gets to start aina against Zambian...just imagine how many passes of that kind he flipped to Moses....our frontline would have enjoyed...

elderson with all due respect, nothing personal....could not make one of such pass....

No blame me o.

I have just seen someone that understands the challenges of playing in Africa not some that think we are Manchester City playing in the EPL.

I think rohr will move mountains with super eagles..

Come to think of it. .has any of our former coaches stayed this long without one or two rifts, beefs with the players or board??
I know definetely he will move mountains...for the first time...nff hire a foreign to qualify us for the world cup and not after we have qualified....
that's a plus...back then I had wished lagerback stayed wit us for like 2-4 years to build the team...
now we have a respected and committed coach...

that's good....I am only not too comfortable wit his tactics which greatly manifested against RSA...and conservative approach...
but every other he is a plus...

My belle the sweet me. He plays CB and LB. They should launch a drive for the Torunarigha guy, maybe his Dad will have a change of mind. The truth is that those boys stand a better chance with us than the German National team. Once we get them and since they are quite young o mehn, our defence will be solid for a long time to come.

I agree. Jordan Torunarigha's dad does not want him playing for Nigeria.

With Uduokhai and Awaziem, we have CB back up. Uduokhai can also play on the left. With Aina and Ebuehi, we have cover on the wings.

Even though this Site is known as a Faceless Forum, I think this Thread is known and appreciated for mostly intellectual Discourse and up to date Information on the Eagles Players.

You do not need to lamely and childishly tackles another Person's Opinion simply to get Likes and Shares from the Bird of a Feather.

When Aiyenugba was plying his Trade in the Nigeria League, he won the Titles 4 Times, won Africa Champions League 2 Times as well as Africa Super Cup 2 Times.

Did he achieve these Feats by Luck?! What Ezenwa has achieved so far in the League as a Goalkeeper?! Seem you prefer Enyeama to be the No. 1 based on past Glory?!

Sentiment aside, Aiyenugba deserves to be the No. 1 based on the Present Form, if you get any contrary View - state and back it up with Facts. Knowledge has no Boundary, perhaps I can learn one or two things from any Point(s) instead singing a Lullaby.

Aiyenugba has been overlooked for long despite playing regularly for his team in Europe.

What is the criteria for choosing players into the SE team?

They said he fumbled against Guinea but if you ask them for evidence dem no go fit show am.

This is the same way they crucified Daniel Akpeyi for the 3 goals he conceeded against South Africa when we know he was never at fault.

Prior to the game against Guinea Aiyenugba kept clean sheets in 2 of our Africa nations cup qualifiers but dem no see those ones.

I see they waited for him to make the mistake because they don't want him in the team.

But how Aiyenugba was at fault for Siasia error still beats my imagination.

Siasia didn't do his homework well before he played that match because we could have qualified with just a win but they were searching for a goal at the dying minutes when we were already leading with two goals.

They left the defense and exposed Aiyenugba live and direct.

Some people who no sabi post think say to kick ball na anywhere belle face. grin

Dem know no sabi say you can make a keeper motionless with just a kick especially when he his very close to the keeper. grin

I don do am well well. Even the best goalkeeper in the world no go smell my balls when I am close to him. grin

The team is not an established one like the USA 94 team. I expect several changes especially with players on the bench before the world cup. There are places for grabs.

Germany has like 3 or 4 solid squads. All those young talented german boys are better off with Nigeria. I rate Uduokhai and i believe he will get into the german mix soon. Sweet left foot, has a eye for the pass and tackles well.
Which German mix? That of Germany abi our Oyibo wall with Leon?

NFF To Meet With Liverpool Sensation Seyi Ojo Over Switch Of Allegiance To Nigeria
October 12, 2017085

Top brass of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) will in the coming days arrive the United Kingdom for talks with on loan Liverpool and England U21 forward Seyi Ojo over a possible switch of allegiance to Nigeria.

Ojo was approached by Nigeria last year but the left footed ace turned down the approach from Nigeria, who were at that time offering him a chance to join their Olympic team for the Rio 2016 Olympic.

The forward asked for more time to mull over the issue as he was focused on establishing himself at Liverpool after several injury set back since he made the step up to the main team.

Presently out on loan to Fulham, the NFF are set to once again try for the forward who has flourished at Fulham and for the U21s of the English national team.

His international future alongside that of Tammy Abraham is still unclear according to England U21 manager Aidy Boothroyd, who admitted that the duo are among players targeted by Nigeria ahead of their campaign at the World Cup in Russia next year.

Rohr is an experienced tactically sound coach. He does not change things around too quickly, he prefers gradual but focused changes. Look at the way, the team has transformed since he arrived. We are more defensively sound than we have been in a long time. We defend set-pieces a lot better.

Hugo Bross is one of the most tactically astute coaches in Africa. Rohr was better than him over two legs. Infact, Cameroon were lucky to score.

Icon4s said it best.. The man is conservative in his approach, he moves gradually.

Thank you.

My man u relayed d match live and God bless u.

I want Rohr to use d match as a case study for his boys,we lost that match due to a lot of factors,i w never say conspiracy coz we have seen other Africa countries progressed to quarter final and Ghana even had d opportunity to reach semi final

A lot of things happened in eagles camp before Italy match and Mutiu Adepoju should able to tell u much, this is one of d reason am happy for d unity in this present team.

Prior to that match there was a serious brawl between Siasia and Olishe, this made Westerhoff to axe Siasia from d team list and brought in Okocha. After injury to Daniel Amokachie, naturally Samson Siasia should have replaced him and d rhythm of d game w continue coz Italy were under pressure.

We had d game under our control till d tail end but Olishe messed up instead of simple clearance,Olishe decided to win d ball and lost it,this resulted to Italy equaliser.

The penalty given to Italy was disheartening coz Eguavoen just act ignorantly and got punished for it,is a match i hate to remember, winning that match was straight to d final.

Oh Emenalo pass to Yekini, just simple tap in would have done it but Yekini messed it up.One of d worst outing for Yekini in eagles even i w say US 94 his worst outing.

We lost d match due to lack of WC experience and it was glaring we have d best team in d world after Brazil, rating d best entertaining team in d world and 5th best in d world.

Hope this young team w supercede this great performance, they have everything at their disposal to achieve it,depends on d coaching crew ability to approach every game tactically.

My good man, let us talk privately. I'll send you an email.

no one gets angry sir...it's just your opinion...
It only draw my attention whenever epl or championship league is being used as a yardstick to judge SE players...because England that have been using same league players since ages have not won any world cup for years....the only one they've won was in 1966 during the time men still wear pants to play football..a tournament of just 8 teams...

so let England thrive wit those players first in the world cup, Euro nations cup...
beat Brazil,Spain,France and Germany...
then I we all can join in canvassing how good the championship is....

moreover....take a look at all the winning teams in the world cup and Euro nations cup....their players are scattered all around Europe they have those playing abroad...and lots more...e.g France...I think a player from the MLS was invited last time during their Euro quest...and they beat hell out of the lowly Iceland that whipped England.

lastly if shehu playing in backwater league...could develop so much guts some he displayed in the last olympics and presently in the colours of the SE...then the epl and it's kind Should never be used to judge our players....
moreover this boys potentials are never in doubt...but just that not everyone got the opportunities those borough players enjoyed...
well trained, groomed and cultured and happen to play in an organised league unlike here in Nigeria...I can tell you talents abound in Nigeria...should Nigeria have a league as organised as the south Africa or Algerian league.....we will likely win the world cup..

despite the organised league England has...at their disposal all they could get from it....in senior men's football is world cup qualification and nothing more.

Sixteen Nations qualified for the 1966 World Cup not 8.
That Shehu has really pushed himself and has turned out good for the RB position. The thing I love about him is that he is very comfortable with the ball on his feet. I guess that comes from being a Midfielder. It's early days but walahi I don't think Ola Aina can edge that guy off but ultimately it's best for the team cos we would be brimming with so much quality and this guys are young.

Why England are perennial underachievers is a mystery to me. In this modern era of the game all the power houses of Europe have given a good account of themselves. Italy won it 2006. France was in the finals in 2006, Spain won it in 2010, Netherlands was in the finals in 2010, Germany won it in 2014. England to my chagrin always under perform.

I wonder if he is Ajagun's brother or Agent. grin

If the guy isn't doing well I understand.

Remember, he was mocked here when Panatiakos loaned him out when one yeye coach came from Italy.

They said if he's good enough why was he declared surplus to requirement? Why was he sent on loan to a lesser club? Even when I tried to explain that the coach didn't like him because prior to the coach employment Ajagun was the main man for the biggest club in Greece.

They kept insisting if he's good enough.

But when Guardiola declared Kelechi Iheanacho surplus to requirement, nobody talk say if he is good enough..... they rather rained curses on Guardiola and even tried to bring down Gabriel Jesus. grin

But now, in their very eyes Ajagun went to the Eredivise. When he was there you personally claimed he's good enough because you assumed he wasn't playing regularly until facts began to show your face.

When facts began to role for face, the story was no longer if he is good enough nor he's not playing regularly in the Eredivise but he's playing in a poor League. Bhuuuhahaha! grin

Some people were even mocking him here when they claimed his mate is going to Belgium but he doesn't have a place to go.

Behold, Ajagun landed in Belgium. grin

Now, another stori don dey show face. grin

more often than not, the most OBVIOUS team to win, usually doesn't.

A lot of things go into winning a game, sometimes you can have a team of the best players in a competition. It's a perfect team and all, but one day, they will play a game with a lesser team and luck will evade them.

No need to talk too much on it

So because Hazard and William are forwards then they should be made to start featuring as CFs? will they perform better there?

it doesn't make sense that when these promising Nigerian players get other positions forced on them when they get to Europe. Iheanacho, Success, Yahaya, and even Mikel, and the sad part is that they don't seem to be performing well in those positions, and yet you keep defending such horrendous decisions. A fish is made to thrive in the water, not on the field, no matter all efforts to make it thrive on the field, it can only thrive in the water. Iheanacho have had his best games playing as SS and other attacking positions apart from CF.

And enough of these “Iheanacho should study Firmino and that.” You can't force him to be someone he is not. You can't force Messi to play Ronaldo's style of football and vice versa, else you may not be able to bring out the best in them. Iheancho should be made to focus and develop on his own unique style, that is how you get the best out of him. He was doing that under Pellegrini and getting good results until Guadiola came.

Iheanacho has played the center forward role and done well. An example was his days in the academy of City when he played under Patrick Vieira. Another was his hat trick game against Crystal Palace.

Hazard has played the Center Forward role and done well for Chelsea. Aguero has played multi multiple roles also. It is the way the game is played today. Look at CR7 who excelled on the side and is also making good account for himself as a center forward.

Look at Danillo at City who this season has played as a right back, left back, Center back and defensive midfielder. The game today requires more than being restricted to one wing.

Delph recently put in a brilliant performance against Chelsea playing an unfamiliar left back role and we see Shehu perform brilliantly on the right back when he can also play as a defensive midfielder.

So when making a selection, we look for our best set-up with where we can make the most effect offensively and defensively.

For now, Iheanacho is our best option up front if we weigh in all the factors like mobility, pressing, skills, holding up play, passing, finishing etc. That is why he gets the nod most times when I make my list.

Pellegrini plays two center forwards and that makes it difficult to hold the Attacking pair. It is always more difficult playing as a one man striker.
