Name a better striker Nigeria should take to the world cup since both are not good and according to you have failed
Also explain what you mean by both have failed, how do you define a failure.
If u have a mid-field with the likes of Mikel,Ndidi,Etebo,Ogu and Onazi and still fail to score as a nine you have failed.Ighalo's goal drought sent him out of watford.Iheanacho benched at City because the two other strikers are better than him.

He(Nacho) is even finding it difficult to score for Leicester.

Forget all those "off-the ball movement".If u fail to score as a nine for your team u have failed.

But the "failure" I mean here means that the both of them are not suited for the lone Striker system.

Hence,we should give others (Dennis and Cyriel) the chance to see what they can offer.Getting Tammy will also be nice.

Add Peter Olayinka to the party.
we have a lot of wingers in the team presently, including Onyekuru.

We only need back-ups to our CB's and Echiejile's replacement.

While watching the France VS Nigeria match, when Azeez was to come in to replace Onazi, I exclaimed. "They will kill him."

Luckily, Mikel Obi yelled to Keshi waving his hands that he should not bring in Azeez. I guess Mikel Obi envisioned what I thought. Deschamps set his boys to go for blood. Ambrose and Onazi were at the receiving end. That game was not one for Azeez.

Messi List Game Against Nigeria Among His Favourite Games For Argentina

Argentina and global football icon Lionel Messi has surprisingly picked one of the games he played against Nigeria as one of his favourite for his country Argentina.

Widely regarded by some as the greatest footballer of all time, the five time winner of the Ballon d’or made this known during an interview shortly after his hattrick against Ecuador powered Argentina to the World Cup.

Messi has come up against Nigeria twice at age grade level, namely the 2005 World Youth Championship and also the 2008 Olympic in Beijing, and on both occasion he lead Argentina to victory.

At senior level he has scored in three times in the three games he has played against Nigeria, a brace at the last World Cup in Brazil and a goal in a friendly game played in Malaysia in 2012.

Speaking to Sky Sports Spanish journalist Guillem Balague who has written books and documentary about the 30 year old revealed the favourite games Messi said he has played for Argentina.

” He was speaking after his hattrick for Argentina against Ecuador, he was asked his best games for his country and he picked his debut at the World Cup against Serbia which Argentina won 6-0, and also the final game of the Olympic in Beijing which they won 1-0 against Nigeria, then the game against Ecuador “, Balague said.

Onuachu leads Midtjylland to victory

The Nigerian forward was on hand to score the only goal of the game as the Wolves handed defeat to Claus Nørgaard’s men
Paul Onuachu was the matchwinner as Midtjylland secured a 1-0 away victory over Soenderjyske in a Danish Superliga encounter on Friday evening.

The lanky forward’s goal came in the 73rd - after he benefitted from a Gustav Wikheim assist - to lead Jess Thorup’s side to their fourth consecutive win in the division.

Onuachu’s effort at the Sydbank Park was his seventh in nine league encounters, 11th in 15 appearances in all competitions this season.

The 23-year-old was taken off in the 89th minute while compatriot, Rilwan Hassan was replaced by goal provider, Wikheim in the 20th minute after he was at the receiving end of a hard tackle.

The Wolves are top of the Danish topflight log after garnering 25 points from 12 games. And they welcome Horsens to the MCH Arena in their next league encounter on October 20.

PERFORMANCE: TALKING TACTICS AND POSITIONAL PLAY

Angel Di Maria: The art of wing play
PSG's Argentine wizard Angel Di Maria shares the secrets of bossing the flank
Sid Lowe

Always be inventive

“When teams are defending deep – ‘parking the bus’ – it’s important to stay relaxed and focus on keeping the ball moving and searching for the gaps. As a winger you have to keep doing what you’re there to do: run at someone, create a chance or draw a foul and deliver a cross into the area for the strikers. For wingers it’s important to try to be inventive: to do something different to beat the defenders and create a chance for your team.”

Creativity is why you're in the team

Drop in when you can

“At Madrid the three forwards always have freedom of movement. We can swap places and look for spaces whenever we want. If you’re out wide, you watch what the others are doing: if one player goes outside, try to drop inside to fill the space. You’re always looking for room. Me, Ronaldo, Benzema, Adebayor – whoever plays, Mourinho asks us to do the same thing: to be mobile and when near the area, to take people on and take our chances.”

Seek space when your team-mates move

Remember: track back

“Mourinho wants us to be aggressive, with and without the ball, so I’ve had to adapt defensively to what he wants from us. I knew if I was going to be in his team that I’d have to run and put my foot in. It’s because of this that I’m playing and getting better. My position is different now [to when I was at Benfica] so my mentality is a bit different. I know the coach wants us to run and pressure but still have ‘air’ left to attack, so I have worked with that in mind.”

Get your foot in and help the defence

Creating chances is key

“Some wingers may be happy with dribbling past a few players but it’s important to remember you’re in the team to make chances for your team-mates. If you can make space for the forwards or play a pass for them to put them one-on-one with the goalkeeper, that’s when you’ve really done your job. Fast wingers can beat defenders. The best wingers make goalscoring chances.”

It's not all about beating your man

Accept you’ll get kicked

“At one point this season, I got kicked so often that I got frustrated. But after a while you realise that it’s something you have to endure when you’re dribbling past players. Some kicks I can accept; when it’s one of those that the defender has no choice because otherwise you’re through on goal, that I can understand. But when it’s a foul that’s unnecessary and can really hurt you, that’s still difficult to take.”

Getting kicked: It's in the winger's job description

Keep evolving

“Every year, you grow in all ways – in a football sense, in a mental sense. And the older you get, the better you understand football; the better you know it. You come to learn things that you did not know before and I’m still trying to evolve now. For example, I’m trying to improve my positional play: when to pressure and when to back off, when to open up the pitch, when to close it. As an attacker, you can’t just be happy to beat players. You want to make an all-round contribution to the team.”

Certitude:

On what basis is Siasia a better tactician... Is it on his performance with age grade team or ...? ain't getting u n d sir thegoodjoe. Siasia's success is due to the fact he plays inferior team...You never wonder why he usually flops when he plays a decent team..cos no tactics...It's all attack n attack... It seems beautiful football is the only tactical stuff to you...That nigg. couldn't take us to the nations cup twice because he is tactical...
.

you blame him for two nations cup failures where he took over for the last two games but if I blame Rohr for our woeful performance against SA you will say it is part of the rebuilding process? That he is just new to the job right? Fear God.

There are two things you should do, go and watch the match we played against Guinea, the draw and tell me if it in anyway compares to the woeful performance against SA, we had the chances in that game but the players missed them, it's just like blaming Pep for City's lack of a true finisher last season.

Then watch those two friendlies against Argentina, even the one we lost and see just how good tactically he is. We are not saying Siasia is a better a manager but better tactician? It is not even close

Just seeing this.. I actually meant to say AM not CMF. we talking #10 now

Good. So Yannis Anastasiou deployed Ajagun at RM, although he never played Ajagun there for an entire season at Roda. Why did the coach do that? It's not only got to do with versatility, but also the strengths of a different set of teammates. Also buttresses my point. Did Ajagun need 4 to 5 games to adjust back to a RM? What's the big different between RW and RM? A midfielder who is offensive minded can play as an AM (Attacking midfielder)

A versatile player is versatile.. How long did Victor Moses need to adjust to a wing back? grin

But you would have said VicMo is not a wing back prior to then, just because of what you saw on transfermarkt. My friend, listen to people who study players strengths.. don't just go by what one coach did.

Oga! Ajagun don dey play everywhere for field since he singlehandedly led Dolphin to win the league. He continued at Greece and Eredivise. grin

Why did Yannis-Anastasiou deployed him in the RM position? It is because he has played him there before . Simple. grin
Meaning, he has been tried, tested and approved with a rubber stamp. GBAM! grin

Unlike, Joel Obi who has never been played as an AM in his whole career save one. grin

Abi, how many times did Joel Obi played as AMF over his career and when last? grin

If it's not necessarily about versatility then we should put Iheanacho on the LB position since he's left footed and since we need an urgent replacement. grin
He should have come in for Echiejile immediately he got injured. Don't you think so? grin

The point still remains that Ajagun is versatile and he continues to play in various positions regularly from season to seasons unlike Joel Obi who never played the AMF for 7 years. I am not saying he should not be tried but I am saying you don't just assume he can without been tested prior to the world Cup. grin

Point of correction, Vicmo is not playing as a wing back in Chelsea, he has so far played as the RM. grin

No bi transfermarkt or Google you take know Ajagun played for the same coach because you were never aware? grin

A good national team keeps on searching for the best.

Even Baxter said "Nigeria front three lack quality".If I could recall then Iheanacho sits on the bench for City,Iwobi hardly gets playing time before the match and S.Moses with problem of poor crosses.

To instill the spirit of hard-work,improvement and consistency in a team you need competition, and this will be better offered by new invitees who want to claim a shirt.

Modified:If Iheanacho is as good as you said, why did Rohr leave him on the bench for 3 games.

Even Rohr keeps on searching for a "good" nine.

You can not compare the system the Spaniards play to that of Nigeria. Our team plays in a more disjointed way. We also play with pace, so you can make a harsh tackle and get away with it. The Spaniards are highly positional. That is why even the lightest touch can earn them a free kick.

Onazi and Ambrose were not the first injured in that game. These are two physically strong players.
