You can not compare the system the Spaniards play to that of Nigeria. Our team plays in a more disjointed way. We also play with pace, so you can make a harsh tackle and get away with it. The Spaniards are highly positional. That is why even the lightest touch can earn them a free kick.

Onazi and Ambrose were not the first injured in that game. These are two physically strong players.

If Spain and France met then, who will play for them apart from the ones we know are playing in the la Liga? grin

The game was too physical. It might not be appreciated but going with a physical option was the best choice. Deschamps turned those guys to monsters. Remember, Onazi and Ambrose attacks were not single attacks. Unless a change in system. The physicality was too much.

Blame the referee for not protecting players with his cards.

Keep in mind Ambrose never recovered.

You are funny. Instead of you to say explain.

The Spanish style of play relies more on movement off the ball more than movement on the ball. You will hardly find Iniesta or Silva running with the ball to go past players. They do soft tricks if they hold the ball but most times pass it.

In such instance, a physical side will be cautious of tackling because a harsh tackle can lead to a send off.

So the will use the same players. Even a player like Xavi but the style of play will make fouling Xavi difficult, let alone with such malicious intent as Matuidi.

This is one of the reasons why we need good back-ups.

Then,it was eliminate Onazi and control the mid-field.

we lack good back-ups for our CBs, and
Leon is injury prone.

This is what I am talking about. Performance like this will put pressure on some players who are redundant in their various clubs. grin

Now that Rohr has set it straight that he wants players performing regularly in his team, nobody go tell them make dem buckle up. grin

The pressure to do well this season has just began. grin

Onyekuru, you are doing well, you deserve to go to the world Cup if you maintain your form till March. grin

Rohr is a far better manager. He knows more about the game outside tactics. Especially keeping the team together. See how he shielded Akpeyi even when he was about to drop him. Or how he kept Alloy Agu in the coaching crew despite his limitation.

His management of Victor Moses needs a book for coaches to learn how to manage an egotistical player. Even his dropping of Awaziem, Onyekuru and Osimhen because he did not want them in camp and disappointed when they did not make match day squad.

Rohr also reads teams very well. He is the better manager. However, when it comes to tactical set-up and play, Siasia trumps. It is not even a debate.
siasia has only excelled in coaching age grade teams... ND has failed woefully wen it's on d bigger stage against actual senior teams with the super eagles... Is everyone forgetting dat?.. It's just like saying Nigeria is a footballing powerhouse because we have won 5 u-17 world cups, or dat we are like Brazil since Brazil has 5 actual world cup... Rohr is still better in my opinion

Better in what aspect. We have hammered that Rohr is a better manager. We are talking of tactical set-up and plays. Not who is a better manager.

Spain is more of a teamwork. Who in our team apart from Mikel Obi would have been coordinated to play Tip tap game. We were playing with pace and under lots of pressure in that match. Azeez coming in woukd adjust to the team. Not the team adjusting to him. He would have had to play a more defensive role, taking away his control game.

In such frenzy, he would have been an easy target. From your above statement, you can see Azeez was not a good fit.

You quite obviously do not understand how the work permit system works.

Homework, do a bit of research and you will then be conversant and updated.

Countries like Brazil are in the uppermost echelon of the FIFA country ranking an entire different set of parameters are used to assess thier players. With regards to work permit requirements.

On the other hand Nigeria is ranked 44 Brazil is mostly ranked number 1 or thereabouts and has been for over 25 years.

Why was Onazi a pain in the neck for the French?
Why was he wanted out? grin

Was it his attacking and running attributes or his tackling and dirty work attributes? grin

Don't mix the two?

If it was the former, Onazi was never a threat because the French had marked out our major threat in Ahmed Musa. grin

The later was the reason he was kicked out and as soon as he left, the French had a free ride onward. grin

So, my point is, Azeez would have offered both perfectly. Go and check his tackling statistics in the la Liga. grin

We needed someone who could control the game, give passes and at the same time tackle wella. grin

you blame him for two nations cup failures where he took over for the last two games but if I blame Rohr for our woeful performance against SA you will say it is part of the rebuilding process? That he is just new to the job right? Fear God.

There are two things you should do, go and watch the match we played against Guinea, the draw and tell me if it in anyway compares to the woeful performance against SA, we had the chances in that game but the players missed them, it's just like blaming Pep for City's lack of a true finisher last season.

Then watch those two friendlies against Argentina, even the one we lost and see just how good tactically he is. We are not saying Siasia is a better a manager but better tactician? It is not even close
Take away Simon Kalika, Siasia will be exposed as a mediocre tactician.

That's what I'm talking about. If your team does Not play to your strengths then you try and adapt to their style. Iheanacho is a good player but he needs to vary his game so as to score and play for Liecester. From the way this Leicester plays, it'll be hard to see goals coming for him a lot. They don't pass cleanly hence he has to work on becoming tough and use this as a chance to improve on his hold up play. I had feared that this Leicester deal would either go smooth or awry for him. It's October and yet he's not playing as frequently as expected cos he's been back from injury for a while, I'm scared for him cos this is a true talent that has not really exploded as anticipated. After the WC if he's gotten his citizenship he should take his skills to Italy, Spain or Germany where passing is a key focus in every player. The teams in EPL that he fits their style is so competitive to get a shirt and Iheanacho of late has not been doing too well when faced with determined competition. He needs to leave England fast.

I had made this observation donkeys ago and some took serious offence, because KC the untouchable can do no wrong.

I said this will be the true test of his ability, not when you are surrounded by world class players making it relatively easier for you to score and look good.

Now he will have to battle, fight and compete for the ball before anything happens. That's why the EPL is the most competitive league in the World.

Many top European players come in and struggle and ultimately fail.

Absolutely 100%.

However, he came to Liverpool and couldn't cope with the speed, intensity and the physicality.

Yes I did see him when he first came, to us it was obvious he was light weight. He was promptly sent to the gym to beef up.

He was use to playing pretty tip tap football in the Portuguese league. He couldn't cope and never played one game for Liverpool in the premiership after near 4 years. That in my book is sadly a failed project and an indication of very limited ability. Or alternatively you could say good for the Portuguese league but woeful for the EPL.

The EPL is not for everyone it's the most competitive, physically intensive and fastest league in the World. Not everyone can cut it, unfortunately Ilori is one of those that couldn't cut it.

Not only good for Portuguese league because he was also good for LA Liga and Ligue 1.

If you flopped in team in EPL doesn't mean you can't excel in another team in EPL.

Lukaku fumbled at Chelsea with all the game time but today we are singing a different note. grin

Tiago Ilori is better than Dominic Iorfa Jnr in my own opinion. grin

everybody(well except theGoodJoe) knows that Mikel and Keshi goofed big time, that was the wrong move any day of the week. In fact it would have been better if we subbed in another CB and pushed Omeruo to the DMF position because he can hassle and has the physicality to cope instead of throwing in the tall snail, this is not even a debate

Bro coaches don't check the history of a players playing position before they deploy them. They simply test them during training and study their qualities.

Coaches decide based on their playing philosophy. Mourinho at Real Madrid for example wanted forwards that can all switch between CF and the wings at any time during the match. If you are a CF for example and you can't play the wings, u won't suit his style.

Oga coaches look for different things.

In Ajax, Louis Van Gaal desired midfielders that can both attack and defend. That's another philosophy based on the style he wanted to play.

Most coaches will not deploy kC as a LB because he can't defend nada.

VicMo for your info can defend which is why Conte tried him there. And he does that for Chelsea. He is a wing back. He can play from defense to attack on both wings.

forgiveness:

Oga! Ajagun don dey play everywhere for field since he singlehandedly led Dolphin to win the league. He continued at Greece and Eredivise. grin

Why did Yannis-Anastasiou deployed him in the RM position? It is because he has played him there before . Simple. grin
Meaning, he has been tried, tested and approved with a rubber stamp. GBAM! grin

Unlike, Joel Obi who has never been played as an AM in his whole career save one. grin

Abi, how many times did Joel Obi played as AMF over his career and when last? grin

If it's not necessarily about versatility then we should put Iheanacho on the LB position since he's left footed and since we need an urgent replacement. grin
He should have come in for Echiejile immediately he got injured. Don't you think so? grin

The point still remains that Ajagun is versatile and he continues to play in various positions regularly from season to seasons unlike Joel Obi who never played the AMF for 7 years. I am not saying he should not be tried but I am saying you don't just assume he can without been tested prior to the world Cup. grin

Point of correction, Vicmo is not playing as a wing back in Chelsea, he has so far played as the RM. grin

No bi transfermarkt or Google you take know Ajagun played for the same coach because you were never aware? grin

p...
at least that should serve England...being that all their players play in the epl....even though it may not be among top 6 place teams...
but still in the epl...you believed to be the best league in the world...

I stand to be corrected the EPL IS THE MOST COMPETITIVE LEAGUE IN THE WORLD

When it comes to best that's just very slightly arguable it depends on where you stand. The EPL is not the best technically speaking but physically tasking intensive and fastest, a resounding YES.

Using outside assessment the EPL has always been rated in the last ten years within the top three. Currently UEFA have Spains La Liga number 1 and the EPL as number 2. Other independent think ranks have the EPL as number 1.

But at this stage it becomes subjective preference. Its's like saying which teams best Real or Barca or player Ronaldo or Messi we can argue for year without agreement.

You are misrepresenting my very clear and precise comments and view.

Some of the best players in the world play in the EPL no doubt. There is no team in the the top 5 FIFA rankings that will not have a good number of thier too players in the EPL. For some of them it will be larger bulk of thier team play in the EPL.

With regards to the championship it's a stepping stone to the EPL and in some regards a proving ground for EPL competency. With this in mind I place UEFA leagues with a rankings of lower than 7/8 as being on the same level as the Championship and or even lower.

That's my well though out view and I do not consider it be unjustified or just plain blinded bias.

great, so why didn't we just hire Kalika?

Kalika was the tactical brains while Siasia was the figure head. Sometimes you need such a set up.

As a matter of fact we were on the verge of being booted out of the U20 championship in 2005 after drawing the first game against Brazil and loosing the second to South Korea. The Nff at that point booked the teams return ticket in advance prior to our last group match against a star studded Switzerland team with guys already playing at top level like Djourou and Senderous (Yes, he was highly rated at this point. Arsenal fought off Real Madrid to sign him).

At this point, Kalika hooked up with Siasia. We won that game 3:0. And subsequently, Kalika was detailed to scout and analyse opponents and suggest tactical formations to be applied.

I found it astonishing to learn that Siasia had no idea about the teams we were to face prior to that tournament. This much was revealed by Kalika in an interview I read years back.

Siasia is overrated, I'm sorry to say.
