she can easily mould the 750 blocks herself and she will save a lot.... And if they are places they can get used buildings material that is still solid it will help her a lot....... I'm actually doing this post on behalf of a young lady. The parents are having accommodation challenge. She has bought A land measuring 200 by 100 a while ago. The Dad is down with stroke.
Presently landlord is on their neck and rent is due. She has about 500k savings.
She approached me for advice but I can't give her so I'm running to the guru's in the house. The problem is, can her 500k put up a one bedroom apartment devoid of any luxury? Just blocks, ordinary zinc and wooden Windows?. No plastering, painting or tiles. Just the bare basics
The mum said she is OK with any type of structure- bedsitter(studio apartment), zinc structure, plank house etc.. just any kind of structure..
Pls help this hardworking young lady.

It can... With the highest level of economizing. But don't go and build what will collapse sha... Its better you build to the level you can... Even if its to roof one of the room... Let them manage there and then as money comes in you complete whateva that is left.

Or you rent one room apartment for them with 100k then start building with the 400k. Before the year runs out and the rent is up. You would have gotten them sometin decent

Mould the blocks by yourself it will be cheaper. If you are home based, you can used a labourer with wheelbarrow to scoop sand from gutters.
I think 100k can get you the all the blocks you need.
Budget 70k for cost of Labour to build the structure
Budget 200k for the wood and zinc for roofing
Budget 30k for doors
Budget 30k for windows

If you're very "tight fisted" you may have change.
Do not use contractors in this job.

I did a job few years back, the contractor billed me 650k via expert advise I supervised the job and used local bricklayers. At the end of the day I did the job with about 300k and a better and higher fence for that matter.

500k will go a long way but can't complete it. Unless u won't do a soak away . the roofing alone will take close to half of the money.I suggest the person should go ahead .God knows ur intention and will always help u.

500k can build one bedroom apartment going by your specifications. Just do your market survey very well and most importantly buy your materials yourself.

Yes, 500k can build you a bed sitter apartment.

You will need like 500-600 blocks. That should cost not more than 60k if you mould it yourself. Setting of the block to lentil level will cost like 30k at N60 per block but you can get it cheaper than that etc.

I believe you will have a really good apartment like you stated above with your 500k.

That sand will not be enough so I think she will buy more probably small tipper like 12,000#

Bricklayer will use just 2 days to build to lintel level.
The highest she can pay them is 20-30k

Lintel casting

She should buy gravel measurement In her area, tho I don't know how much dey sell it per bag but I don't think she can buy more than 20k gravel.

She can get rough iron from welders or Hausa ppl if they are close to her location, if No, her budget should be around 25-30k

This level shouldn't pass #200,000

I think even in 2013 ordinary roofing should take half of that money, not to talk of tiles and the finishing. How much will he use for foundation and structure self. I don't believe except you have done something similar yourself.

Can you please give the OP your cost estimate, because I think this is exactly what the OP wants. If 300k can do this, then 500k would do it better
