My test comes up on Saturday morning. I see no big deal in this whole EPT stuff, no big deal at all. But, why are many material things/services around the UniBadan campus so expensive to buy compared elsewhere around Ibadan? It ought not to be so in a university with strong and disciplined SUG and/or Student Affairs department.

There were 4 comprehension passages very long. My advice leave the comprehension and do other parts then come bk to it. You need to read it very well to be able to understand. The other parts are quite easy to answer, some are just a bit confusing. And read your concord.

Why? Have you seen your result? NO,they don't . Social work have seen theirs because of the oral test.

I believe the aim of the many/plenty Comprehension passages and questions in the ongoing EPT is to test how "FAST and accurate" the postgraduate candidate is able to read and UNDERSTAND a passage within a given time. In other words, they expect the candidate to finish reading and understanding a passage within 2-3 minutes. That is just the trick.

My exam comes up tomorrow morning and I can only hope for the best. I no go kill myself.

This exam was hot. The comprehension part na setup.

Thanks guys for all the help. I actually skipped the comprehension, to other sections then came back to attempt the questions. This gave me a lot of time to attempt the comprehension questions

I don't know about others who claim they had up to twenty (20) Comprehension passages in their English Proficiency Test yesterday and Thursday, but my English test today at the DLC, UniBadan did not contain even up to six (6) Comprehension passages, likewise with those that took the test yesterday. There were just four (4) Comprehension passages with one question from each, then the passages are repeated but with a different question for each as you proceed to the next question.

In other words, the Comprehension passages are THE SAME all through - they are only REPEATED, therefore if one is able to FASTLY read accurately and UNDERSTAND each passage within 2-3 minutes one is expected or should be able to answer the rest questions (whether they are 25 or 50 in number) within 25 seconds or 1 minute maximum. To make it clearer: they do not expect one to read ALL through the passages again in subsequent questions since one might have understood what it is all about, rather they want you to just glance at a line or two (especially in the middle/bottom of a Comprehension passage) and pick the answer from it.

Someone on the other UI Postgraduate thread said the many Comprehension passages is to see if one could make wise decision in any circumstance. No, it is all about reading FAST and UNDERSTANDING, not really making a "wise decision" in any circumstance. If you do not UNDERSTAND after fastly reading the passages you can't make any wise decision because any (wise) decision taken might still lead to a failure! Anyway, I wish everyone the best.

I had the worst experience today. My system went off. Took them over 5mins to restore it back.

They changed it bro. In the nearest future,I hope the question will be available to see what exactly we are talking about. The passage for one question was long but Glory be to God,I passed and did my oral interview same day. It went well. Hope to see you guys in class #Irepsocialwork

I believe they did not change the Comprehension passages, at least not for those that sat for the English Proficiency Test yesterday and today. The four Comprehension passages centred on the following topics:
1. History on the Introduction of English language into Africa (i.e. Nativization, acculturation etc).
2. Education and Gender Inequality against Women in Africa.
3. The Niger Delta and its Socio-economic Problems.
4. The Oduduwa or Yoruba Factor since Precolonial times in Nigeria.

Those were the four passages set yesterday and today, and each had series of questions to it but in a REPEATED pattern; that is, the Comprehension passages were repeated as one proceed with the answers but with DIFFERENT questions to each.
I will be glad if you can tell us the topics on your Comprehension passage, whether they were different and/or more than the aforementioned four topics. My course also falls under the Sociology Department just like Social Work.

I scored above 50% and that is fair enough for me.
