I am not sure if this is in the code book, but the small car in this pic is commiting a ticketable offence. Can anyone spot the offence? clue: This is a very common offence in winter. 2 Likes

salford1: No registration plate number displayed on the rear of the car |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by salford1: 9:46pm On Oct 16, 2017 |
Rebarobyn:Very very close just like teatop.. There is actually a registration plate attached, but it is all covered in mud. The key word here being "mud". The driver may have left the mud there deliberately to avoid speeding ticket from speed or red light cameras. It would also be difficult to identify the driver or owner of the vehicle if it was used in a crime scene. In winter, there are lots of snow and mud. A police car driving behind the car would have pulled him or her over and promptly issue a ticket. Other common ticketable offences are: -Burnt out tail lights/signal lights. -Not properly clearing the snow on your vehicle (unsecured load or driving a motor vehicle with an obstruction on its windshield/tail lights). 12 Likes 4 Shares

Uglyduckling:Well. I guess that is how they have been able to keep the rate of accidents low. The above are just 2 out of some not so obvious infractions where a driver can get fines and possibly demerits points on. One has to be aware of such little things especially if working in some technical/scientific roles or government jobs. e.g some employers would sack employees or not interview a candidate if he/she has more than 5 demerits on their license. I have a friend that got 6 demerits in a single day and it could take up to 3 years to clear from the record. 8 Likes |

It was smooth and straight forward. Luckily for us, my wife had approached @freeradical's wife for "expo".The same officer attended to both of us and fortunately for us, he asked the same question and we answered like a "Boss". We landed safely in Calgary the next morning and no immigration check again. A week and few days here, SIN done, got phone lines (freedom mobile) accounts (checking, savings and credit card) opened, alberta health card was delivered to our address today. Getting kids registered for school on Wednesday( you make appointment in advance in this school close to our home). So far, So good... GlitteringStar: 25 Likes 6 Shares |

kun1: Hi, you can find accommodation via kijji.ca. What most people do from Nigeria is to secure a place through AirBnB, land and live there for a while and look for permanent accommodation. So you are initially able to live in some comfort and are able to take your time to find a suitable place. 10 Likes 5 Shares |

Please is it true that it is risky or illegal to post permanent residency cards through DHL or otherwise...for those that plan doing a short stay. May be the best option is to get ETA if you want to come back to Canada without your PR card, highest you pay like 50-70$. Just want to confirm if you can DHL PR card to someone. This is specific to outside Canada ..cos mine was sent to me from Saskatchewan and there was no P |
