Suppliers/Dealers/Engineers etc in the house.

I am in need of a Pure Sine Wave Inverter (inverter only). I do not need the charger as I live completely off-grid and charge my batteries with my PV arrays only. I have a backup generator, but I do not charge the batteries with it. It is purely for backup. The capacity of the Pure Sine Wave Inverter only should be between 6KW and 8KW, and able to power submersible pumps, refrigerators, air conditioners, pressing irons, washing machines, dryers and other household appliances and office equipment. It should also be able to power small power tools such as drilling and cutting machines

The inverter should be a low self-consumption inverter.

Cheers

Further information

The system is 48V.
The battery bank is made up of two (2) strings of 370AH each connected in parallel to give 740AH.
The PV Array is a total of 5.3KW in two strings connected to two charge controllers.

The loads are merely a description of what would be powered by the inverter, rather than what would be powered simultaneously.

Cheers

for 48 V you can have a look at Victron Quattro 5kw - 1 million or 8 KW/10 KW ( almost space price) - 1.8 million ,
SMA Sunny island - 8H - 1.6 million

Something cheaper is ipower /gennex 5 KVA ( 4 KW) x 2 = 8 KW /10 KVA approximately 6000 K including parallel kit - Can be expanded upto 24 KW single phase

I have no personal experince wityh Magnum but i think one unit is max 4.4 KW

All the inverters have chargers built in . Inverters without charger cost approximately 100 K less but it is better to buy with charger ( easier to resell or charge in emergency)

cheap alternative is china made inverters but for a such a serious system I would advise against it

Electricity tariff may increase by 61.5% soon

Okechukwu Nnodim, Abuja

The tariff payable by electricity consumers may increase by 61.5 per cent any time soon following the latest revelation by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission on Friday that it was waiting for a final approval from the Federal Government before implementing the new rate

According to NERC, the actual tariff for one kilowatt-hour of power is meant to be N51, as against the current unit cost of N31.58 for which electricity distribution companies are selling the commodity.

NERC explained that the actual tariff of N51/KWH was arrived at based on the economic fundamentals considered when carrying out minor tariff reviews, adding that the commission had completed the process for the new tariff but had yet to receive an approval from the Federal Government to announce its implementation.

It disclosed this at a training programme in Abuja.

I run a 12V system
On a bright sunny day, i can use the refridgerator, 42” led tv, dstv , rechargable fan
a couple of intermittent led bulbs
and battery hovers from 13.0 to 13.3
When there is intense cloud cover, battery
hovers between 12.7 and 12.9
Can someone pls explain
Thanks

Hello my ogas in the house, I have a question, I have a zenith 200ah battery that I have been using since last year, I built a charger for it myself as I can't get a smart charger here in akure, my question is can I connect a solar charge controller with an 18volts charger so that the controller can regulate the charge that goes into the battery, can the charge controller work without a solar panel?

This is gonna be interesting...
At about 20 units daily, that's like 30k monthly.
This will definitely reduce the payback period of my renewable energy investment. Way to go PHCN! grin

If Bolded above is true, why then do you need CC since have made us proud by building a smart charger urself

Yours above is sign that your enjoying ur investment. Keep it up @ 12.7 and you'll be fine even at the threat of N51/kw you have nothing to fear!

Yes, ensure the cc current is rated at 1.5 to 2 times the charger current,

in addition to what Pranil suggested, if you can't go for those high end inverters he suggested due to price, you can go for Sukam/Mopower 5kva/48v. they're both Indian (manufactured by same company)

But please note that though the aforementioned Indian brands are know for their ruggedness, you can consider them if you know that you're actually going off-grid. they don't have the capacity to charge that battery Bank through mains supply.

Nevertheless, with your Solar capacity, I believe you won't have under charging issues

just my contribution.
thanks
cheers

Ipower / Gennex all use voltronics with rebranding ( links earlier on the forum) It is a Taiwanese company with a very good reputation in the budget market. Sold in SA as Axpert in Australia as giant power , worldwide as MPP Solar etc.

their factories are also in China but so are the iPhone factories http://www.voltronicpower.com/oCart2/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=123

you may need a forklift or crane to lift each battery if really you're looking
for 12v 2000ah. besides, it would be a very costly proposition.

smiley smiley a 2 V 2000 AH weighs 130 KGS and almost 04 meter x 0.4 metr - A 12 V will be almost 1 Ton in weight if you can find a supplier . Imagaine the shell thickness of plastic container to handle that weight

L;OL I DONT think such a battery exists............doesn't make any sense, 2v 2000ah might exist, but not 12v
