Hello Everyone, I am new to this thread even though I have read from page 0 to a point. I recently passed my IELTS LRWS 8.5,7,7,7.5. I started my ECA with WES since september. LASU delayed the verification process and the status on WES currently is "in progress" I will like to know if; 1. Do i need to wait for ECA before taking any steps? 2. Using the CRS calculator my score is 416, Can this work? or what can I do to boost this point? Looking forward to your response. 1 Like |

Hello Chiobich, I will answer question one because I have experienced it myself. This excerpt from CIC confused me as well because my hubby who is the PA obtained his masters from the UK via distance learning. The excerpt applies to distance learning degree obtained from a Canadian school either from outside Canada or within Canada. If your degree was from a Canadian school, then this applies to you. But if it wasn't then you should not concern yourself with this and follow the below steps when completing your profile after you receive your ITA. 1. Verify your distance learning degree via WES. 2. When filling your profile, after you input your school name, put (by correspondence) in bracket. 3. Write a LOE (important) explaining that your master's degree was obtained via distance learning and attach your admission letter to authenticate your claim too. You must also state to CIC that you do not require a police certificate for your study period as you were not physically present in the country in the course of your study. Very important too. We have passed the R10 stringent check stage of our application and we did the above and all is fine. Good luck in your application chiobich: 4 Likes |

Jades27:You have good scores. and 1. YES, you need to wait for ECA before taking further steps 2. 416 is a bit on the low side but CIC can still surprise us with low draws. That aside, are u single or married? If married, your spouse may need to take IELTS as well and probaly also get ECA done to support your current scores. |

sleekysilk:The 3 points difference is most likely from one of the IELTS components she selected, that's where a band gives 3 points more than the previous band. cc: Jades27 |

Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by sleekysilk: 4:38pm On Oct 17, 2017 |
Jades27:Ok. But sincerly, there's little you can do to improve your CRS. you already maxed out the scores for speaking and listening. Even if you retake IELTS to gain maximum points for reading and writing it's just gonna be an additional 6 points. i.e from 419 to 425. And I cannot say it's economical to do so. Therefore, once your ECA arrives, enter the pool, sit on your 419 and keep hope alive that CIC will do 'christmas' for us and do lesser CRS draws hopefully before your next birthday. Cheerssss. 1 Like |

Jades27: Check if it was 7.5 you selected for your speaking and not 7 then 8.5 for listening and not 8 |

sleekysilk:Hard truth here. Though 425 looks more a comfortable zone, if the IELTS is retaken, how well can one guaranty that one or the two components already maxed out will not drop to acceptable base? Part or all the 6 points aimed for becomes lost. Other factors where points can be gained is somewhat a stretch - additional degree; OND, HND, MSc. If already enrolled in a Masters programme, how soon will you be completing? Sure you would not forget to claim points from sibling if you have a PR sibling. cc: Jades27 1 Like |

Jades27:A provincial nomination is the highest booster one can get, followed by LMIA backed employment offer. At this stage and while in Nigeria, probability of getting the latter is close to zero but not impossible while the former is a more expensive and time consuming route. Provincial nomination gives additional 600 points while the LMIA backee job offer gives maximum of 200 points which should get you ITA in next draw after receiving the nomination or the job offer. If you have the wherewithal for PNP and/or you are in a hurry to That said, CRS is expected to drop if the number of ITA issued is increased and sustained. The past few draws has seen ITA issued to about 2800 applicants from a previous 3300 plus. If the number of ITA issued can climb back to mid 3000s and sustained at that level, then it is expected to see CRS drop drastically. My opinion though. |
