goldfish80: Osimhen is operating on past youthful glory as an U17 player, which is essentially small boys football. That as it stands is archived history of plus two years ago. No longer tenable or relevant for current assessment. Currently, Solanke is the best player in the just recently concluded U20 World cup an accolade that is much closer to the professional senior game. Solanke was already a regular on the Eredivisie as a 17 year old. Add to that was winning cups for Chelsea as the best youth team arguably in Europe but definitely in England. Solanke is not just a bench warmer but a fully fledged senior team member for Liverpool. Osimhen is struggling to warm the bench at Wolfsburg this is the reality. As it stands has he played up to one hour of football this season for struggling and lowly Wolfsburg. This may be hard for some to digest but Osimhen will not enter the youth team of any top EPL club as it stands. If Indeed he could make the youth team of a Championship side that would be more probable but not certain. So let's have no doubt Solanke is far ahead of Osimhen in every respect. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Nationality has nothing to do with it. From my perspective if seeing Traore as a teenager for Chelsea. He just didn't have the physicality at that time to impose himself on the highly competitive and physically tasking English EPL game. But he has developed more so than Solanke in my opinion by playing in a more technically adapt league. That is suited to his style of play because in England he was getting bullied. Unlike Tega who was never bullied in a game. |

elyte89: This is why I will always advocate for a solid home grown solution for talent development. I mean, haven't we been embrassed enough by these foreign born players? From Patrick Owomoyela, Nedum Onuoha, Sidney Sam, Charlton Cole, Denis Aogo,, the litany is endless like a bottomless pit. I get ashamed when I see people listing players who aren't interested in playing for the Super Eagles in their dream starting eleven for the World Cup. The NFF should kick start a programme with a good 10 year plan to develop the talent pool at home. This was exactly what Belgium did after getting knocked out in the group stage of the Euros they Co hosted with Holland in 2000. Belgium used to be European whipping boys. They simply got to work and developed from grassroot and inculcated a playing pattern and 4-3-3 formation from the U12's.. Today, they go into the world cup as one of the favorites. If we can build a solid structure at home, our national team will be better for it and these foreing born players will beg to play for us. 4 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: TheGoodJoe: Is it also safe to say Liverpool doesn't rate Origi as much as you do going by ya words? TheGoodJoe: Is it also safe to say Liverpool didn't trust in Origi to do the task and called a poor performing Solanke to play as the third striker based on your last paragraph? TheGoodJoe: Can we say though Origi is brilliant player but Liverpool bought Solanke to fill his space and it shows the kind of faith Liverpool has in him based on your fifth paragraph? TheGoodJoe: Do you still believe in what you said in your first paragraph? I mean, Do you believe that Solanke getting games with Liverpool makes him a more rated player than Origi, Osimhen and Iheanacho? yeah! my head. *Takes cover* Don't forget to consider your last paragraph when answering this question. How time flies! |

forgiveness: Please, there is a difference in letting a striker go to the striker wanting to leave. In Dzeko's case, Manchester City made it public that they will accept offers for Dzeko. Pellegrini trusted Iheanacho to do the job. In Solanke's case, Origi himself orchestrated his departure because of lack of playing time. Not because of Solanke. Gerrit? 3 Likes |

UEL Wrap: Iwobi Not In 18, Akpom Benched, Gero Scores, Ubong Assists, Lookman Almost Scores Published: October 20, 2017 UEL Wrap: Iwobi Not In 18, Akpom Benched, Gero Scores, Ubong Assists, Lookman Almost Scores Catch up on the performances of players of Nigerian descent in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, October 19. It was end-to-end action at the Jämtkraft Arena as FK Ostersunds and Athletic Club battled for supremacy in a tension-packed 2-2 turn out. Alhaji Gero started and got on the scoresheet to pull his side level after they had fell behind to an Aritz Aduriz opener, the 24-year-old was booked in the 72nd minute for his troubles. In the other Group J fixture,Ukrainian side, Zorya pulled off a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the round of 32. German-Nigerian defender Jordan Torunarigha was an unused substitute for the entirety of the match. Konyaspor fell to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to group pace-setters Red Bull Salzburg with Moanes Dabour and Fredrik Gulbrandsen grabbing the goals. Patrick Eze started for the hosts but was replaced in 62nd minute after an ineffectual display while fellow countryman, Imoh Ezekiel came on for action fourteen minutes from time. Chuba Akpom watched on from the bench as his Arsenal side limped to a 1-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in Austria. Teammate Alex Iwobi wasn't in 18 for this one. Oliver Giroud's late acrobatic effort helped the Gunners establish a more complex stronghold in Group H. John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme could not help their Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva avoid another 2-1 defeat at home to Steaua Bucharest. The former was substituted in the 30th minute due to an undisclosed injury while the later went the duration of the game but failed to add to his solitary goal in the competition. Harlem Gnohéré hit a second half brace to down their hosts while ex-Barclona striker,Isaac Cuena scored a consolation for the Israeli champions. Zulte-Waregem and Vitesse shared spoils in a Group K showdown as they both maintained their bottom positions in the group log. Peter Olayinka started for the hosts and logged ninety while teammate,Kinglsey Madu stayed on the bench for the entirety of the game. Aliko Bala was conspicuously missing from the matchday squad. Over to Albania and it was an all square result as Skënderbeu Korçë and Partizan Belgrade toiled to a 0-0 stalemate in Group B. James Adeniyi was on parade for The Snow Wolves over the course of the ninety. In Group F, FK Zlin and FC Copenhagen played out a one apiece draw at the Létna Stadion. Nigerian midfielder, Ubong Moses started the game and set up Diop for the curtain raiser. Peter Ankersen equalised for the Danish side. Lastly, Everton's shambolic displays this season continued as they fell to another defeat to Lyon at Goodison Park. Ex-Chelsea striker Bertrand Traore broke the Toffees hearts with a late winner after Ashley Williams' headed effort had looked to salvage a point for the Merseyside club. Nabil Fekir's penalty goal had earlier put the visitors in front albeit in a game which threatened to be marred by controversies. England U21 star Ademola Lookman came on after the break for Everton and almost scored but Lopes managed to save his effort. Emmanuel Chinaza http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=25086 |

forgiveness: Stop making Vitesse the same as Wolfsburg. Talk like someone who understands football. Wolfsburg might be having challenges but it is a respected club. Origi having regular playing time in Wolfsburg trumps a third striker in Liverpool. However, a starter in Vitesse can not compare to a third striker in City. Firmino who is a starter for Liverpool is behind Gabriel Jesus in the Brazilian National team. Firmino will bench in Manchester City. He will not start ahead of Gabriel Jesus or Aguero. Simple logic. It was City Iheanacho was benching in. Not Liverpool. Origi is better than Solanke. That is not even up for debate. If Origi was in Liverpool now, Solanke would be behind him in pecking order. It is a big lie saying he chased Origi who is better than him. 1 Like |

forgiveness: You're just running around quoting random facts which hardly add up. First you said Traore is older than Solanke and they never played in the same category, then you make a reverse to claim Solanke achieved more in the age group he played with Traore. Come on! You have to be consistent. Like it or not, believe it or not. Solanke doesn't hold a candle light to Traore. Solanke is an exaggerated youth team player while his mate at the Chelsea academy is a full Pro. 3 Likes |

Wolfsburg German-Nigerian Defender Uduokhai Turns Down Fresh Approach Highly rated Wolfsburg defender Felix Ohis Uduokhai has turned down a fresh approach from Nigeria to be a part of their squad to the World Cup 2018 in Russia. Uduokhai who is presently a German youth international has grown into one of the best young defenders in the German Bundesliga since his move from second division side 1860 Munich to Wolfsburg. His performance made Nigeria who are already through to the World Cup to approach him to switch allegiance to them, but according to Germany based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba, Uduokhai turned down the approach. ” He (Uduokhai) does not seem interested. He is more focused on playing for Germany, where he is a youth international. He says he has been approached but wants to focus on his game for now”, Akatugba told Owngoalnigeria.com. ” When you hear this kind of statements you know what they mean”, Akatugba concluded. won't take anything from own goal with a grain of salt yet, but if these report is true...then we have to move on from the Uduokhai noise here, at these point let the foreign born lads come to us and beg to play for Nigeria, tired of the begging already, let the likes of Tammy and Uduokhai keep for waiting on England and Germany respectively, tired of the hype already. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/10/20/wolfsburg-german-nigerian-defender-uduokhai-turns-down-fresh-approach-from-rohr/ 2 Likes |

komekn: Actually nationality has a huge role to play. From the get go, the veiled glass ceilin tagged "work permit" already restricts players from certain countries. I'm honestly surprised you said nationality doesn't matter. I saw Traore for the first time in Chelsea pre season some 3-4years ago. He was hands down Chelsea's best player in their US tour. He out performed full international players in Chelsea at that time. I was actually looking forward to see him in the season proper, only to realise he had been sent in loan in Holland. I followed his progress up, especially when I realised he was the younger brother of the prodigiously talented Allan Traore. To be honest, I was expecting Kelechi to shape up to be out own Traore. Bearing in mind their presumed skill set (Kelechi's skills have since dissappeared), both South paw, the both pack a good shot to both. Unfortunately Kelechi have since been converted by Man city to a pragmatic tap in merchant and a willy fox in the box. Sad but true. 1 Like |

komekn: Osimhen and Solanke are not so much dissimilar. You make it sound like there is a gulf in class between those 2. Solanke is Liverpool's 3rd choice striker while Osimhen is Wolfsburg's 3rd choice. They both have zero goals to their names this seaon, must be said Solanke have more minutes.. You seem to forget that Arsenal wanted Osimhen. Infact, he snapped a picture with Arsene Wenger in London during his visit to the Emirates for contract negotiations. Some rogue agents hijacked the deal and took him to Germany while Arsenal made due with Nwakali. Why you will say Osimhen can't make any youth team in England is baffling to say the least. I hate to say this, but the gospel truth is that the last U20 world cup was watered down in quality. Can you compare the standard witnessed in Korea to Nigeria 99,Holland 2005,2007 or even 2009 which Ghana won. Teams like Argentina weren't even in Korea. If the level of competition was as high as what we were used to, Solanke wouldn't have come close to become Mvp neither would England have won the cup. Yes Solanke did very well for Chelsea's youth team but you don't know how good Osimhen was for his youth team in Nigeria. He could have scored 100 goals in state competitions in Benin. Again, I say their records are very much identical. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Man City: Dzeko reveals reasons behind move The Manchester City striker has spoken about his struggles last season. 16:17, 13 AUG 2015UPDATED16:49, 13 AUG 2015 Dzeko-2JPG.jpg Dzeko with his Roma shirt Edin Dzeko has admitted that it was the tough competition for places at Manchester City, as well as a couple of injuries, which resulted in him leaving the club for Roma on a season-long loan. “I played less in my last year at City because they’re a top club with lots of players. I also had an injury that held me back," he said in a press conference. "What happened last season is in the past now. Roma is my present and I can’t wait to get started. “I had four fantastic years at Manchester City. They’ve improved a lot in recent years and I hope to repeat similar success at Roma” the 29 year old added. Dzeko goes with the best wishes of most City fans after leaving a note on Twitter expressing his gratitude to the club and stating that he “will continue to be a big fan of Manchester City” The Bosnian striker scored 71 goals in 185 appearances for the Blues in his 4 and a half year stay at the Etihad including some key goals at vital moments, such as the equaliser in the 3-2 win against Qpr on the final day of 2011/12 season. Whether City will miss the services of Dzeko remains to be seen but there is certainly more pressure now on the shoulders of Sergio Aguero to stay fit and Wilfried Bony to produce when required with the likelihood of the Blues signing a new striker unlikely. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-city-dzeko-reveals-reasons-9851792.amp Does this look like 'letting a striker to go or striker wanting to leave' in Dzeko's case? This is from the horses mouth, please. Talk true for once na. Now, answer my questions. Next. |

Let's learn to read the quotes if any. Take note that Uduokhai was not even quoted in this one.. OGN just quoted the journalist. And the journalist never said Uduokhai was approached recently.. Again, if it's true Uduokhai said he wanted to focus on his game, that does not mean turning down Nigeria. Even Ebuehi said something similar back then. We need to stop putting words into people's mouth. If I say i want to focus on my game, I could mean i want to settle in properly in my club.. That in no way means turning down Nigeria... smh.. it simply means give me time. That very very rude girl/Tunde analogy comes to mind. edi287: |
