Arsenal Legend Wright Blast Leicester City For Signing Nigerian Trio Ndidi, Iheanacho & Musa

October 21, 2017015

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has hit out at former English Premier League champions Leicester City for signing the Nigerian trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho .

The Nigerians were part of the players Leicester City signed to beef up their squad after their surprise title success two years ago, but bar Ndidi, Musa and Iheanacho have struggled for game time.

Speaking on SkySports, Wright who now works as a pundit said the trio alongside other players signed by the club since their title success are not good enough, and simply don’t fit into the style of play of the club.

He mentioned the names of the Nigerians among the players signed by the club, who have failed to justify their signing despite the huge fee and salary they command at the club.

” They have not improved on the squad that won the League two seasons ago, signings like (Islam) Slimani, Ahmed Musa, Ndidi and Iheanacho were poor signings ,” Wright said .

Not trying to rubbish your list. But we must understand the purpose for which some of these friendlies are played.

Firstly, it is not every time you get the opportunity to face an Argentine team that has the likes of Leonel Messi, Di Maria and co. Let us have the opportunity of testing our "Oyinbo wall" against these top players. If they can handle Messi, Dybala and Di Maria effectively that could give them the mental strength to face other attackers in the world cup.

We should focus more on exposing our 'A' team more than the fringe players. Only 3 of the whole sqaud have played in the world cup. It basically means over 70% of the 'A' team are green horns as far as facing opponents of that calibre is concerned.

We need our 'A' team to play more together. Thank God there are rooms for 6 substations we can be introducing those fringe players little by little.

So for that Argentina friendly we must start our best.

Arsenal Hero Keown On Why Chelsea Drew With Roma : They Missed Victor Moses

Martin Keown had weighed in with his opinion about Victor Moses who is out injured and was sorely missed by the Blues as they toiled to a draw against Roma in the UEFA Champions league.

The Arsenal legend had thoroughly enthused that the absence of Victor Moses had held back the London club going forward in that game.

Antonio Conte's men who had earlier looked to be cruising squandered a two goal lead and even had to chase the game at a point.

''I have plenty of admiration for Conte as having played in that system [3-4-3 formation] myself, I never thought it could work,” Keown told DailyMail.

''But against City and Roma the back three became a five. Chelsea were so effective last season because their wing backs stayed high to affect the game.

''Now, they are just defenders. They really missed Victor Moses (on Wednesday night).

''Chelsea showed character to draw level. But they were given a good examination by Roma."

Moses who had been a mainstay for Chelsea till his injury is expected to be out for a further four weeks though.

As such, he would play no part again in tomorrow's game against Watford at Stamford Bridge.

Nothing like that. This kind of friendly is to test the strength of your 'A' team. It should be an insight as per how our team would fair against an 'A' opponent. This could give us the mental strength to face big teams in the world cup.

If we want to test the fringe players we play against an average opposition.
sir....I think otherwise....
let me say this....the best way to know those who are good enough to play in the SE is to test them on opponents good enough to play the SE and not a low class team...only for them to star in such match and fumble at the world cup proper when we play star stunded team...

the program of rohr should be aimed at getting a quality bench as good as the first team... (starting 11) anything beside this....is beyond excellence...

many of this players we can fringe players we make the starting 11 of any Africa team...

someone like Henry will make the starting 11 of any Africa team...likewise awaziem and Dennis...

Another Bad Day At The Office For Chelsea Loanee Omeruo, Kasimpasa

Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo was on parade for Kasimpasa as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat away to Antalyaspor in a Turkish Super League game o Friday evening.

The visitors had earlier taken the lead in the 23rd minute through Venezuelan striker Jhon Murillo but Antalyaspor came roaring back via star forward,Samuel Eto'o who struck to pull his side level two minutes before the break.

And Deniz Kadah scored the winner for the hosts deep into the second period after Maicon had laid off the ball on a platter for him.

The Chelsea loanee was in action for the entire duration of the game.

Antalyaspor move up to 12th on the log with the win on 11 points after nine round of games while their opponents are hovering just above the drop zone in 15th, with eight points to show for after the same amount of games.

Official : Argentina FA Announce Pre-World Cup Friendly With Nigeria In Krasnodar
The Argentine Football Association have announced a pre-World Cup friendly with three-time African champions Nigeria, ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The South American powerhouse will start their preparations for next summer's showpiece with a high-profile exhibition match against the Super Eagles in the Arena of FC Krasnodar on November 14.

The stadium, owned by FC Krasnodar of the Russian Premier League, has a capacity of 34,291 spectators.

Nigeria have met Argentina four times at the World Cup, losing by the odd goal in each of the matches.

In USA 94, Argentina, who were inspired by Diego Maradona, beat Nigeria 2-1 with Samson Siasia on target for the Africans, Argentina won their opening game in the 2002 World Cup 1–0 against Nigeria thanks to a second-half goal by Gabriel Batistuta.

Seven years ago in South Africa, Heinze's sixth minute goal proved to be the winner in their opener against Nigeria, while Ahmed Musa bagged a brace in a 3-2 loss to the two-time world champions at Estádio Beira-Rio, Porto Alegre in 2014.

Nigeria's last competitive match of 2017 comes away at Algeria on November 10.

Leon Balogun Suffers Suspected Fractured Cheek Bone, Doubtful To Face Algeria
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is sweating on the fitness of Mainz central defender Leon Balogun less than ten days before he is expected to announce his final roster for 2017.

Balogun may not figure in the World Cup qualifier against the Algerians after suffering a serious injury in the 79th minute of Mainz's 2-0 loss to Schalke 04 at Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen on Friday night.

Providing an update on the injury suffered by Balogun, Mainz tweeted immediately after the game : '' Last year, @LeonBalogun wore a face mask vs. @s04_en. Today, he had to come off with a suspected cheek bone fracture. Get well soon, Leon!''

In October 2016, a hamstring complaint prevented Balogun from traveling to Africa for the World Cup qualifier versus Zambia, and he also withdrew from the squad that faced South Africa in June because of a thigh injury.

Prior to today's match with Schalke, he had been on the bench in the last three matches in the Bundesliga, against Hertha Berlin, Wolfsburg and Hamburg.

Nigeria have conceded just once in their last three World Cup qualifiers with Balogun and William Troost-Ekong partnering in central defense.

So, Solanke's goals at the Eredivise is also youth record?

If you you really believe the club and league you play in is irrelevant, fast fast consider Solanke's goals in the Eredivise to the equation, and consider he did that at 17, then tell me if they are still par.
