I think one reason is that they use the missal. It's basically the same thing they do IMO; cherry picking. The missal eliminated the need to carry the Bible since the church has done all their homework and removed the parts they don't want. e.g. The second set of ten commandments(that's if you know they exist).

Sadly you have not made any sense. To say a God contradicts himself is an height of heresy. God is God, he can't contradict himself. His words are eternal and they don't change. If contradiction seems to arise with respect to his commands, it must be that man misunderstood what was originally intended, not that God ordered what he has once forbidden.
By the way, you said God instructed those images to be made, how are you sure God didn't tell the Catholics to make those images? Have you asked them? Or are you God? Maybe you have been able to read the mind of God or discern his instruction to the Catholics.

I am a Christian, and attend a Pentecostal Church. Churches, just like Christianity, is open to individual definition on how they see it and it has no one clear definition. so your question on why people consider the Catholic something else, will get you a lot of different answers, even if majority will be shrouded in ambiguity.

The Catholic Church did not start getting heat today from people. It started from the time the Church deviated from the Bible, and became a POLITICAL PARTY in the 14th and 15th Century.

The Catholic Church became too powerful.

There was a time in Europe, the Catholic Church had their hands in the choosing of Monarchs, and was heavily into financial racketeering. And it is on record that most Pope from that Era were Closet/Open Gays, who liked little boys, and that problem still persists with the amount the Catholic Church around the World keep paying money yearly to little boys molested by Catholic Priests.

And that is why Martin Luther lead the revolt, that nearly saw the collapse of the Catholic. God bless him.

As an individual, my problem with the Catholic has to do with the way they worship, as it is almost idolatry. [s]Why can't i as a Christian pray to God directly?why do i need one statue, picture or something to intercede for me?[/s]why do i need to be calling the name of this Saint or that Saint to intercede on my behalf?

Why do i need to confess my sins in a Booth to another man(Reverend Father) when i can talk to God directly?is the Reverend Father now a gate keeper to God or Heaven?

The Bible says Jesus is magnified by Mary's soul. A soul is eternal and not limited by life on earth. Mary reinforces her eternal ministry by saying "all generations will call me blessed." If the Bible intended Mary's ministry to end with the birth of Jesus, or at his death, or even at Mary's death, it wouldn't use that language.

A magnifying glass increases the object it is focused on, so being in relation to Mary's eternal soul does not draw focus away from Jesus, it does the opposite. It magnifies him. This is the Bible's word to the people of God, and it is my experience. I've heard Evangelical pastors do sermons on just about every passage of Scripture except this one. In fact, the movie "The Nativity" removed words referring to Mary when this Bible passage was on the screen during the final scene. It's crazy to remove words about Mary from the Bible to make some Christians feel more comfortable.

Catholics believe Mary's soul still "magnifies the Lord" for Christians of our generation who choose to relate to her. Currently, Catholics are pretty well the only ones upholding the biblical prophecy to call her blessed, which was intended for all generations, and for all Christians., we don't worship Mary rather we give honour to Her because the blessed Trinity was fully present in her.

You Pentecostals, rather do the opposite, u worship ur so call Pastors and their wivies by calling them Daddy and Mummy. U give more reverence to ur Pastors wivies but ignored honouring Mary.

I have a question for all Pentecostals on nairaland that are critics of Mary. Isn't in the Bible that Mary made a pronouncement that " Henceforth, ALL GENERATION SHALL CALL ME BLESSED.
How many if u call her blessed as stated in the Bible. It's only Catholics that call Mary blessed.

How do you reconcile that the same God that commanded that no image should be made ordered Moses to make a bronze image of a serpent for the Israelites to look upon when bitten by fiery snakes sent to punish them in the desert.

Catholics have started practicing almost all the Pentecostals practice, ie- holding crusade, forming bible studying group, prayer ministry etc.

But refuse to abandon all their practices that is against the bible as many have mentioned above.

Today they are arguementators in other to keep on holding unto those false doctrine instead of changing.

Ark of the covenant is an object of worship and it contains images of cherubim. If you say images are not to be objects of worships as commanded by God, how do you separate the ark from the images of the cherubim?

There was a similar argument of this nature some years ago on NL and i remember one atheist saying to Protestants that they are quoting a Bible that was compiled by the Catholic church, translated by this same church and endorsed by them.
