obaloppelujo: I think this idea is unnecessary becos in their houses they will not be speaking Yoruba. I hope u understand the point am trying to make here. Yoruba has to be encouraged as a primary means of communication at homes in the state. |

Michael004: This is very backward. If i may ask, wat stop Yoruba people speaking yoruba in their house or taking yoruba studies? Must u force ur language on others? I think it is improper and wrong. Over 50% of Lagos population are not Yorubas. It is cosmopolitan with a growing population of international residence from other continent doing business and living in Nigeria commercial capital city. |

[s] legitnow:[/s]Keep blowing grammar on nairaland instead of you to go to the house to oppose it. You are here blowing inconsequential grammar. Like o said, if Lagos likes, let her have 99.9% of non Yoruba, Yoruba language will be officially and compulsory be thought in Lagos schools. If you don't like it, like have said. Take the next available bus to aba. Good day. 5 Likes |

legitnow:Your brain must have been badly roasted by the hot sun in Biafra. Most of you are just useless confusionists. If this thread is sent to FP and yorubas end up schooling you and calling your bluff, I am sure your stupid self will sign in with an alternate moniker and start wailing about how nairaland mods and s_eun "only move tribalistic threads to FP". Any of you idiots who hate the laws in yorubaland should hurry home and stop shedding tears and beating chest as if na your ancestors get Lagos. And again I say quit the fallacy of more than 50% population in Lagos are non-yorubas Igbos make up less than 15% of Lagos population so i refuse to understand your lamentations so far. Even foreigners with far more population in Lag than Igbo don't go around creating threads questioning our right to treat our land in whatever was we choose. If your people told you igbo are up to 20% in Lagos, they lied. But I'm not surprised since you all tell lies to provide an avenue to beat your empty chest. 6 Likes 1 Share |

tinsel:Don't mind him and his clan. Anambra passed a law since 2010, making the teaching and learning of Igbo in all schools a mandatory exercise, and prescribed various fines as penalties, to be paid by defaulting schools. No Yoruba, Ibibio or Hausa person made noise in Anambra when that bill was passed. It even stipulated that if students fail Igbo language, they are not to be promoted to the next class. Yet hypocrites on this thread are wailing about how Lagos is introducing Yoruba language in its schools. Legitnow and Klinee obviously see nothing wrong with Anambra state law, but are upset with Lagos state making Yoruba compulsory in schools, just like Anambra made Igbo compulsory in all its schools. We are all watching you people in 3D. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Why do we Nigerian make issues where there is non, we don't appreciate our own, having your child taught in Yoruba won't stop him or her excelling in life and from speaking other languages like yours. English is not our native language but we could speak it with our indigenous languages. 2 Likes |

As far as am concern, the move by lagos state government is right. The project is targeted for the yoruba race. if you feel you don't want your children to learn yoruba, kindly discuss with the school management or move out its simple. 1 Like |
