Hello fam,

My name is Henry. I wish to to continue my studies in the US as a graduate student. I have been trying so hard to look for a school but it has been difficult for me and frustrating. I want to study Geographical Information System. My parents want me to study in Texas specifically because I have a family there but finding a school that offer GIS at graduate level has been difficult.

Also, I don't even know where to start from. The step by step process. Maybe to collect international passport first or do the English Proficiency test first.....I am just confused. Please help me out.

Thank you fam

Also check out Minnesota State University Mankato.

1. The cost of living depends on the location of the place. For example if you school in a big city like Chicago you have plenty of cheap housing options.its not a must to live in fancy areas

What if your school was located in one of those 'fancy' areas? Would you rather live an hour away from school? The point is that you can study anywhere you can afford the cost of living, and very easily move to anywhere you want once you graduate. Forget about 'big cities'...for now

Work as a GIS analyst

I have Geography (undergraduate degree).
GIS is interdisciplinary and I could get funding if I go for GIS/Geography

Is Geography/Geographic Information Science not viable? Whats ur take Yeah or Nah?

It's very sad. I hate it when people hear bad things about Nigeria from their country only to come here and experience the same thing. When I talk to white people here in Nigeria, I ask them how their initial ideas about Nigeria compare to the experience they now have being on ground and I am always thrilled when the response is positive. Believe me or not, I asked this same question to the Vo that interviewed me for visa.

The man who is supposed to take care of you should man up to the Nigerian Immigration Services and do his job. If he does not, you can look up the Immigration address in Lagos online and visit them yourself. You never know you can meet a staff there that could solve the problem. Again, consider visiting your country's embassy (if they are here in Nigeria). I say this because embassies have strong relationship with Immigration Services (for passport verification and stuff) and you might get help there.

I am hoping that this will be solved and you will have a good positive experience here that you will take home with you.

best,

Baba your liver strong gan ooo

Decision just made. I was admitted

i applied for Michigan Tech Environmental Engineering spring 2018. No decision mad yet
mjksho:

Hehehehe. Femi, but you know say Dem stingy like mad for funding. I know at least 8 people (including me) that got in without funding. Their environmental engineering is ranked in the top 20, I think. But to give me funding ehn, Chai, e pain me. If you are applying here, just apply and pray that your circumstance will be different but don't go and be putting your mind on it. Else, you will be on a long thing.

The reason I asked has to do with your plans post-graduation. You generally want to go for a course that can get you a job if you would like to work. I don't mean you have to go study something Engineering if you don't have a good background for example, but do your research into the American job market as it relates your intended major. If you're going to need a company to file a work visa for you, check some of these employment statistics that very readily available online-and then tailor your path towards that. Getting a visa and funding are just the first few stages in your career.

It's not cheap but full attention and good preparations, you can ace your classes easily. DHS that stated no job for internationals while studying knows the reasons for saying so.

I've been trying to speak with a customer care representative on phone, I called the number on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-main-contactus.asp#ContactInformation [+23414406218], no one picked the phone, the programmed voice was just speaking, no idea on how to talk to a representative.

Anyone know of a means to speak to a rep on phone or a new number?

Akpos went to American embassy for a student visa, and the process of his interview with the white lady goes thus: VO: what is your reason for going to the USA? Akpos: I want to go and study there. VO : which city, school and course do you have in mind? Akpos: Chicago, economics and statistics maths. Here are my admission documents. VO: but the are many universities in Nigeria that offers this course. Why do you still want to travel as far as the USA to study the same course? I doubt your genuine intention and therefore can't give you the entry visa you have applied for. Akpos: (in anger) please give me back my passport and let me get out of this place. What do you the USA has that is not in Nigeria? Do you think the USA is in any way better than this country? If you USA is better than Nigeria, why have you choose to stay here in Nigeria instead of your country? VO : ( with serious anger and love for her dear country stood up and said to akpos) look, I am going to give you the entry visa to USA so that you can travel to America and see for your self, what my country has got, the differ between America and Nigeria. ( out of anger she stamped the visa for akpos). May the anger of your enemy be your promotion to the next level in jesus name! Good evening All.

Which of the customer care representatives did you call?is it Nigeria Embassy (CGI)? Well you dial 014406218 Press the following numbers 4, wait and hear the second option then press another 4, wait again and then press 1, then press the last 1 then you would be transfered to speak with one of their agents.
Hope it solves your problem bro...goodluck
