She hissed, ''Who ate the cake I left in the refrigerator?''

''Me,'' he answered, wondering why she would be concerned about who
ate and who did not eat cake.

''So, that was why you rushed home,'' she replied in a matter of fact manner.

''Sorry.'' he replied, not in any mood for unnecessary argument.

''Ouch! I really feel like eating cake, I have been dreaming of eating
that cake since I left for church. What did you do now?'' she asked.

He dropped his phone aside and gave her a searching look. ''Are you
okay,'' he asked. ''Why are you whining because of a piece of cake?''

''I just want to eat cakes. Do you mind getting one for me?'' she asked.

''You have a husband and I have more important things to do.'' he
replied and faced his phone again.

She hissed and banged the door hard, he looked up after she left and
wondered why she's behaving like a pregnant woman.

''Wait a minute,'' he murmured to himself. ''A pregnant woman?''

He quickly opened another tab in his phone and searched for the
symptoms of pregnancy, the search result soon came up and he read it
out loud. ''Morning sickness, cravings, weight gain...''

The day he and Dami arrived Abuja, he remembered saying that Maryann
now looks fat but she brushed it aside saying that she's blubbing due
to her blissful marriage.

Thinking out loud, he said. ''So, she's pregnant.''

He thought of going to tell his mum or Maryann herself but decided
against it, afterall, he is not a woman and then again, she might be
right that it's her marriage that's making her gain weight, if she's
truly pregnant, his mum would be the first to notice, having given
birth to four kids herself and also more experienced.

Still laying down and browsing through the internet, another knock
sounded on his door.

''Whoever you are, come in.'' he answered.

The creaking of the door caught his attention and he lifted his face
away from his phone.

''K.C, can we talk?''

''Dami, what do you want to talk about.''

''About last night.'' she replied.

K.C nodded and sat up, although the thought of saying no and asking
her to leave, occured to him.

''I'm so sorry about last night,'' she started. ''I didn't mean to sound rude.''

He let out a breathless laughter. ''I have totally forgotten about
last night, okay? I also didn't mean to say those words, they were
mistakes. I met this really hot girl at the bachelor's party on friday
night and I couldn't get my mind mind off her, I guess it was my
hormones talking not me.'' he lied.

''Okay.'' she replied and made to leave.

''We have less than 30 minutes to spend in this house, hope your
things are well packed and ready?'' he asked.

''Yeah.'' she answered and left.

He sighed and laid back on the bed, commending himself for how well he
took care of the situtation, when she had walked in, he knew she came
to talk about last night and his ever-functioning mind quickly came up
with that excuse.
