Hi all,

Please I need your clarification on an issue with doyinlawal .

He made ebay checkout for me sometimes in June, but ebay refunded him as seller cancelled the item due to reasons that wasn't explained to me.

The payment was refunded into doyinlawal's paypal account. When I got the refund mail, I contacted doyin and gave him the gist, he explained that the refund has been received but his account was limited like few weeks before the refund was received. This implies that my refund has also been locked in his paypal account.

After hearing this, I explained that I won’t wait for the limitation to be lifted before I get my refund since my refund was not the reason why the account was blocked and I don't even know what deals he was doing that made his account limited. But he explained and explained that he has been broke and so I agreed with him to receive half payment before the ban gets lifted and wait till the limitation clears for the balance.

I have been requesting for the half payment since then, but the guy is always claiming broke and posting me.

But this time he is claiming that all he can refund is the half payment that he hasn't yet paid because it's not his fault that the account was limited.

He has been mentioned with good reputation here, to my surprise he is just acting otherwise. is his action on this transaction not a scam?

How do people with same issue get it resolved??

First of all, whatever has to do with SCAM, please take it off this post.

It’s always important to set policies for eBay Checkouts in case this kind of stuff arises.

The agreement was to make a payment for an item for you, as far as this transaction is concerned, he’s done his part by successfully paying your item.

If the eBay seller refunded after a while, it’s totally not the fault of DoyinLawal, but the fault of your eBay seller. It would have been a good news if the PayPal had not been limited long before the refund came, cos the funds can easily be traded and you get your money back.

Someone who does eBay Checkout is not a bank that will just start dishing out money to you at any point. You already paid, and he already completed the checkout. He might have as well run other businesses with the money you paid him.

My own advise is that you discuss with DoyinLawal and come to an amicable compromise over this, I don’t see any scam here nor do I see any way forward if you think taking thing “by force” is the route to go.

A limited PayPal is not a joking stuff, your money might not be the only one stuck inside, even DoyinLawal might have double of your money inside as well.
