Sabi mamas I need your advice. I will be having a job interview in Lagos nextweek (I'm based in Ibadan) and I'm in a dilemma of how to feed my son. I'm a ftm, he'll be 4months soon and has since been exclusively breastfed. I do not have a pump as we've been together 24/7 since he was born and I have adequate supply of breast milk. What do I do? Formula feed for that day? Or Express? Will I need a pump? What if I don't get the job/need the pump again? Please help.

You may need to get a breast pump to express and it doesn't need to b d expensive ones...I got a manual pump for abt 2k+ wen my son wasn't sucking. Now he sucks and I kept it to b used again anytime I need to go out without him..

Just like other moms suggested, breastfeed her while lying down for the sake of your sanity. I did that with all my children. I enjoy good night sleep with no issues.

Here’s what I do.

1: I co sleep. I had to alter our lying position to achieve what I want. I created a space for him close to the wall with the bed frame leaning on the wall.
2: No light. I don’t on my light. I use the light from my tv ( it’s on energy saving mode). I train them to sleep without light once I get home from the hospital.
3: No smile, no play. While changing diaper if need be, I don’t smile, talk or play with my baby at night. I avoid noise and put you back to sleep once i’m through.
4: I follow their cue. As Babies, my children don’t like being covered except if it’s extremely cold. 0 to 3 months, I wear them onesie and overall for bedtime. As they get older, I dress them according to the weather and try to regulate the temperature of the room.
I let them sleep on their tummy. There are babies that’ll keep waking up until you let them sleep on their tummy. Yes, there are natural tummy sleepers even oyibo people know that.
When they are 0 to 15 days, I lie him on his sides. 15 days upward, I lie him on his tummy.

I’v done this with all my children and they start sleeping through the night once I wean them off the breast. I breastfeed while lying down and can say for sure that it’s not difficult to stop.
If my baby is wide awake in the night, I leave him to play alone and continue my sleep. Most times he goes back to bed within minutes and I sometimes use my legs to cross the side so he won’t roll over without my knowledge.
There’s nothing on the bed where he lies and the bedsheets is well tucked in. My room is well ventilated too.

This is so me!

Will someone be going with you to assist in carrying your baby and its the job equally worth the stress? If yes then you can use your hands to pump. Its very fast sef. Express and give it to the person to feed him. Bmilk can stay up to 6hrs under room temperature.

PS: I did exclusive bfeeding and in all I express with my hands. Got nothing but stress while using manual pump

@Twogreatnations_ thanks for the tips, tried it but didn't work as the drug(antibiotics) is so concentrated she knew the difference.

Oh! the antibiotics I mixed it with was zinnat and she took it o. Wish I knew how else to help. You might have to take her back to the hospital and complain if she keeps vomiting her drugs . Sorry dear.

I'll be using my Sister's Creche. The job is very the stress. I've ignored so many interviews not worth it. How long will it take if I use my hand? An hour? 2?

I still sit down to breastfeed. I even have a special breastfeeding chair in the room. I need to learn how to lie down to breastfeed especially now that I'm resuming work cry

LadySarah:
If you at this stage hace not been breastfeeding while lying down, then you are the real mom.
biko just lie by her side, put the breast in her mouth and off to slumberland.
no child of mine will i sit down to breastfeed at night when i need my precious sleep.I do this from the day of birth.

Good evening mamas. Please I need tips/tricks to administering drug to lo. She throws it all up...

What are you using to administer the drugs? Spoon or syringe?

You should get a syringe (see attached pictures). You can get one either inside the pack of foreign drugs such as calpol or you can buy one (ask for a 5ml syringe) from a pharmacy (you do not need a needle).

Using a syringe to give a child a drug is a lot easier.

You carry your child on your laps, hold down her hand and then ‘inject’ the drug into the left or right side of her cheeks. You have to be patient and do it slowly. This means you object say 1ml or 0.5ml, pause for a few minutes and keep ‘injecting’ in little amounts until the syringe is empty.

Remember the drugs goes to the side of her cheeks and not the back of her throat or directly on her tongue and you have to be patient. Very little quantity at a time. This means she won’t vomit or choke on the drug.

Have you tried using syringe without the needle? You put it inside the mouth on the inner part of the cheek and release it gradually.
I will try it. Thank you!
