My personal lesson from the injuries sustained in the Oando debacle is " Never again will I buy into a promise. I will only buy based on facts and figures.

It was that that illusion of a promise that kept me in the stock despite all the facts saying I should exit. Thank God I received sense December last year and I sold.

No more emotional attachment to any stock.

hmm.. There should never be any emotional attachment to any stock because in reality nobody knows what will happen tomorrow.
Even though Alhaji dangote is the businessman of the year 2017, there is no guarantee that he will be the business man of the year tomorrow. who knows what will happen to sugar prices, wheat, cement etc tomorrow just like what happened to oil prices globally. my opinion

well...the poor regulation makes naija managers steal money in such a way that the investors feel like fools ; the "better regulated" market the stealing is more technical .. if you ask me stealing na stealing ... money is lost at the end of the day

...proper emotions handling is the secret key to success in financial markets. We're humans & are been controlled by fear and greed. It is easier said than done, separating emotions from stock picks requires high degree of discipline!

My guy, how did Festus Odimegwu make this dishonorable and unenviable list? I think that you have mixed things up here. The Odimegwu era was infact one of the most successful, both for the company and for its shareholders, in the entire history NB Plc. Remember that it was under him that ROI on investment in NB Plc was at some of its highest peaks in terms of dividend pay outs and back to back bonus awards. That is not to mention that he boosted capacity by the building of the company's largest brewery in Ama Enugu State, the biggest and most modern of its type in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as in the acquisition of a few local ones. I think you you have jumbled up his stupid dabbling into the 3rd term politics of OBJ with his actual sterling performance as a CEO. These are two different things.
And yes, you left out the immediate past MD of FBNH from your list.

There was a year in 2006 or 2007 when NB, had pay dividend from the reserve. I was at the AGM in MUSON centre decided to remove him as he CEO of NB. His era was the time of nepotism and tribalism at NB.

Since he was kicked out of NB the Dutch have not made the mistake of making a Nigerian the CEO, Finance director, Marketing director, Technical director, Factory managers or any strategic position, although the Chairman, Human resources director and some non-executive directors are Nigerians.

Oga mi, I thought my post was supposed to be on his achievements as CEO, both to the company and to sharholders. He was there for no less than eight years as CEO. And you selected just one year in which the company had a poor run due, of course to the construction of the Ama brewery at the time, a brewery that is the most expensive of all the breweries in the group, as the basis for your categorisation of his tenure as unsuccessful.

I have also noted with a smile that you accued him of nepotism. Before Odimegwu became NB Plc CEO, I imagine that there was no iota of nepotism there especially given that Ohiwerei and his clique had run the plac for upwards of 30 years with the Yoruba being in absolute domination of the place. It's really interesting how imagined nepotism is only glaring to some people whenever it is not their own benefiting from it. Odimegwu is probably the most oustanding manager to have been trained in the UAC/NB Plc culture having been recruited straight after his NYSC with a first class degree in Chemistry. He showed that he did not suffer fools gladly and was known company-wide to reward hardwork and excellence while punishing indolence especially the type occasioned by clannishness. Go and and ask questions about his trajectory as an NB Plc manager throughout his time there, with all the awards and rapid promotions from a system run from Neherlands which recognised competence, track record and verifiable achievements. And let me ask you, oga, the guys on list from Unilever, Cadbury and FBNH...would you also aagree that what was their biggest undoing included nepotism and clannishness?

Finally, as for you claim as to why the Europeans owners have decided to henceforth handle certain specific directorship positions themselves, again my question to you is: was Odimegwu both CEO and Chairman, HR Director, Technical Director, Finance Director, Marketing Director and Production (not Factory) Manager at the same time? Go and research the history of the company and tell us those who have perennially held those positions until recently in the company.
