Etebo has the same attribute as Alli and Muller i.e they are very good in exploiting space and making runs from deep. He can play as a 10 i.e AM provided you have creativity on the wing and a good ball playing CM behind him.
He can always switch positions with someone like Iwobi during the game.

He does not have the abilities of those players you mentioned. For the kind of system we play he can be mobilized to the wings. He is not creative enough for possessive kind of football. Keep the AM slot for Mikel. Even Iwobi can be mobilized to the wings.

Yekini was actively part of the 98 WC qualifiers.

When last did Martins play for Nigeria?

Let's call a spade what it is and move on.

Was Martins not part of the 2017 WC qualifiers? grin

I gave that source to inform you about only Martins Obafemi earnings per week. If this is what Mikel earns then Martins Obafemi earns more. That is my point.

Cameo or not he was part of the qualifiers. Period.

That can't be changed from FIFA or NFF records.

Tyton had a terrible performance for Deportivo in the cup game. Uzoho might get the chance to return in the league but i fear that the new coach might be looking at the more experienced keepers instead.

If that is the case, Uzoho will return to the youth team and wait for his chance. That kills any world cup dream.

Those goals were never his fault. The defence let him down.

Yes you are wrong. As regards Osaze, I was clear to say tagging him finished was disrespectful especially if he is still banging goals in lowly Indonesia. I never called for his recall to the Super Eagles. I'm sure we still have the history of our discussions here.

I never called for the recall of Ike Uche. If posting his goals on here means calling for his recall to some of you, then you are all getting it wrong.
I will post anything Nigerian here. If Yak returns tomorrow and scores a hatrick or even one goal, I will post it on here, that does not mean calling for his recall. The problem here is there are many gray areas between our positions. Let's not be in a hurry to tag people.

Emenike was the only one I clamored for. And that was based on the timing and circumstance. We were about to face Cameroon and some of us were concerned about their physicality. But Ighalo got a recall by Rohr and he proved himself. Since then I never mentioned Emenike.

Icon4s:

I am not among those that have tagged you or anybody #TeamOldlegs.

But correct me if I am wrong. You also recently clamoured for Osaze, Emenike and Ike Uche right?

I just wanted to clarify that Obafemi Martins now earns more than Mikel Obi. I am not proving you wrong about Mikel Obi earnings which you stated was 150£, I just wanted you to know Martins Obafemi earnings hence the need to show you what he earns.

I think Rohr should find a way to play Nacho as a SS against Argentina.

My line-up against Algeria would be

Ezenwa

Shehu(Ebuehi @ 70 mins)....Awaziem...Balogun...Echiejile (Aina @ 80 mins)

Ndidi...Mikel (Iwobi @ 60 mins)....Onazi

S. Moses....Ighalo.... Kayode (if invited)

Against Argentina

Ezenwa (Uzoho @ 70 mins if invited)

Shehu....Ekong...Balogun.... Aina

Ndidi(Agu @ 75 mins)...Mikel(Iwobi @ 65mins)....Onazi (Ogu @ 80 mins)....V. Moses

Ighalo(Kayode @ 60 mins)...Kelechi

Thoughts?
and use the opportunity to try other formations

lol.. But we kept on inviting Nwankwo Kanu, didn't we? Don't try to draw a wrong conclusion.
I'm sure Martins has scored more goals than Kanu in SE. please please please, this is not an invitation for a Kanu vs Martins debate.. I'm just saying let's not apply double standards.

Let me break down Martins stats in SE shirt, because truth must be told. Some of us are trying to rubbish him because of some disappointing performance in SE:

Here are his stats:
12 matches World cup qualification -> 10 goals
12 matches Africa Cup of Nations -> 3 goals
4 matches International friendlies -> 2 goals
2 matches Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers -> 1 goal, 1 assist

Just because Martins failed to score after clocking 72 minutes in the World Cup proper some of us are trying to rubbish his stats above.

mank1234:

The summary of your post here suggest that Martins as usual would flop as club form is not same as national team form. So let's move on and forget him. His time is gone.

Komekn, The argument for martins is a recurring decimal. We argued for Martins under Keshi. He was invited but could not justify his invitation on the pitch. Martins has not scored since July so he is in bit of a drought. His present form does not justify an invite. However, he is a Nigerian and can be given a shot.

So, you mean he scored 7 goals in 5 yet he was overlooked. I see.

My suggestion is we form a good relationship with him and his parents. Even invite him for training with our next U17s. But you know the NFF policy of recruiting the U17 only from our grassroots here (I don't completely know how true). Leave him to mature while at his base in Germany while keeping tabs with his development and then re-invite for the 2021 U20.

Na wa for this NFF ooooooo if dis their k-leg policy is true.

What is the purpose of grassroots if not to uproot the best, huh?

If a player is good, he is good. No schism should be used to segregate any Nigerian from any of our age grade teams

Martins has scored two digit goals in the last two years and that earned him multimillion dollars contracts.

It's not an excuse to get him off the team.

All of them must be given a chance. No discrimination, no sentiments. Please add John Utaka. He is still very active at CS Sedan Ardennes in France. Utaka scored a very important goal for us against Cameroon at Afcon 2004. We must call him too. I will post his recent stats by God's grace.

Are we not discussing based on points each person is presenting?

Martin has no value to add to that team. End of discussion.

Since they want everyone who is 'performing' to make the team na. Even Jay Jay must be called. Our midfield needs him.
