Good evening. I'm quite new here and I've been following for some time.
Please I want to ask, is experience not needed for qualifiers?
Because with the vast "experience" people someone like Martins had/has, I did not see people clamouring for his recall during the qualifiers, or did he just gather these "experience" after we qualified?
Also, I remember that when we won AFCON, we did not make use of Martins' experience. So why make it look as if the team is weak and vulnerable because they're not employing Martins' "experience"?
Another question is this: Are all the coaches in premiership, la liga, French League, Bundesliga e. t. c blind? Why haven't they noticed Martins' "experience" or they do not want "experienced players in their squad?
Please tell me, will Martins listen to Mikel both on and off the pitch? Will Martins see Mikel and Onazi as his senior in the team?
Lastly, all these talks of "we don't have a team yet", "are these the guys we're taking to Russia?" e. t. c
Please this is national team football not club football where you shop for the best. The current team is at least close to the best or even the best the country can produce. it's not as if we have four players in Real Madrid, 3 in Barcelona's first eleven, and 2 in Man U and Bayern respectively that we're not inviting. I don't think we can do more than this. Maybe we should wait till when we can begin to buy and sell players also in national team football. I bet it with you that even when that time comes, the Ronaldos, Messis and the good players of this world will. e playing for countries like Qatar, UAE, and China. (You should know why). So, the best we can do is to support the current team. Please let's allow Martin's to enjoy his pension in peace. I just want to belief that neither Martins nor his Family members/Agent is behind any of these pro-Martins monikers

Thanks

Point of correction, if Martins comes back, why should he look at Onazi as his senior?! Haba Martins made his debut almost 13years ago, Onazi just started recently. You can say he will have to accept that Onazi is the vice captain but it ends there, Onazi should look upon Martins as the elder not the other way round, same goes for Mikel.

You should go through the older pages, I started advocating for these guys before the SA game, Forgiveness has been saying it since I entered this thread, Komekn has been hammering it since he entered the thread so we didn't start today

I be prophet? That's why stats is good. It reduces the time of experimentation. Else we should try the homebased players too. I promise you if we camped 500 homebased players, we will find one jewel. But why waste the time and energy just to find one jewel, when you could have done that in a considerable shorter time with 50 players in Europe (for example) with better stats.

Honestly i don't want to say much on this coz am not FORBES but i want to tell u starting football early does not determine richness.

Martins earned peanuts at Inter but started earning his mega buck when he move to England which is not upto 40k even in MLS,Spain,Germany,Russian,he didn't earn close to 70k.

On tax I want to tell u there is no European countries u go to u pay heavily for tax or d u want to talk of Spain tax even Germany.

If I may ask u,if UK tax is unfriendly do u think players w be going there for mega pay, though a lot might castigate d league but when it comes to pay pls forget it,EPL is number 1.

Mind u Mikel spent close to 11 years at Chelsea with his last contract earning close to 85k.

Do u know what pushed Martins out MLS,it was MLS salary cap.

In China Martins is on weekly £100k while Mikel £150k even Ighalo £190k

Thanks,u have said it,u are looking at his flamboyant life

It's like saying Emma Adebayour is richer than Drogba coz he always display his wealth for everyone to see.

I don't know know how true it is that Mikel left Chelsea with £2m package for his longevity.

Well, both Mikel and Martins are rich and as i said am not Forbes to tell u d richest.

When Sneider wanted to join ManUtd from Inter, that deal didn't materialise because of his wages and how much would be going into tax.

The pay packages in England is better than other countries. Granted!

You can't compare the tax policies in England to other countries.

Last time I checked was last year when Martins was getting £115, not close to Mikel's £160 in China. I think it's 40% in England. Not really sure.

I wish I can get their Net Worth to make comparisons.

Regardless of the results, there is no present justification for inviting Martins.

He has one assist and zero goals since July.

There has to be strong justification for invitation.

How can someone who is out due to injury play not to talk of score or assist?

He was almost out for two months. He assisted just 5 days ago. Abeg, get your facts right before posting fallacious news. Abeg.

Yes I meant accepting that Onazi is the vice captain and by implication his leader in the team. Let me ask you, why is it that when a new IG of police is appointed, all serving officers that are his senior will automatically be "retired" by the government?. The reason is that glitches as it pertains to leadership in the system will be eradicated. No matter how humble you say Martins is, there's a limit to how much he can be controlled by Mikel and Onazi, albeit in a national team setting

It's the coach's job to manage the players. Every player look up to the captain during game time. It doesn't have to be so after game time. It's natural that some players will be inspired by the captain even off the pitch -- but it's hardly always the case that all players will.

The bolded is actually how resentment, animosity, power tussle begins. We are all human beings. Mikel and Onazi have a place in the team now that in relation to Martins is equal to seniority. It's natural that if Mr A was in an office without position before Mr B and C came but after he left Mr B and Mr C were given positions so much that everybody looks up to them, so you think if Mr A returns and he doesn't fall in line by looking up to Mr B and C by saying they are not his senior wahala will not start brewing? Not that kind of out and out wahala ooo(which is better and can be resolved) but the one that is hidden and festers in the heart, the one that is felt but not talked about or talked about in whispers. And that my brother is how the cookie crumbles.

Nooo Joebie it's not a bad analogy. Leadership includes influence, direction, control, even force. The military analogy is quite apt. Football is war metaphorically speaking. Many times Mikel has been described as commander, a team described as troops. Even the word Squad is military in origin- Squadron leader.

At a World Cup setting it would go beyond the Coach. Leadership both on and off the pitch That's why Beckenbauer was called the Kaiser. What is dressing room influence?

oga, the captain is like the vice player-manager. Many captains will fail if they apply all the attributes you just mentioned. They have to deal with each individual differently to some extent.

One thing you want to avoid at this moment is distraction from old players who are not part of the process. Leave the team they way it is and just add to what you have. Obafemi Martins is an old story same with Osaze,Emenike, Ambrose and Taiye Taiwo.

I don't know why people engage certain characters here and try to take them serious. Some body who think Tiago Ilori should be invited to replace Omeruo....Very unserious.

Wow you remind me of taiye Taiwo.. And you know our weakest link is Elderson... Maybe we need Taiwo atleast to help out... His performing very well now
