Niv25:1. Matter of choice. Read about all 3 countries vis a vis migration pathways, employment, benefits. It's your research. It's a huge one 2.Again . The internet plus your plans plus the embassy website of each country has the details 3. See number 2 4. See number 2 5. Only God knows. But you can self evaluate by checking the threads of each country for how many people with your profile that were issued visas. Happy researching 2 Likes |

Hello friends, I found this site from Google and I have been reading these posts from the very beginning of part 1. Thank you for all your efforts! I am a Nigerian student on a valid F1 visa in the US (I'm doing a 5 year PhD). A couple of years ago, I met a wonderful lady in my school, a U.S. citizen, and we eventually entered a relationship. We got engaged early this year, and we wanted to marry but because my family couldn't make it down to the US at the time, so we just had a court wedding - all her extended family was there. We want to do the traditional wedding and church wedding in December. It is particularly important for them to meet more of my family members because they are white (Caucasian) and want to learn more about Nigerian people. This summer, I applied for UK visa, then I and my fiancee (at the time) traveled to the UK just so as to meet my brothers. She wanted to travel to visit Nigeria also but getting a visa to Nigeria for her seemed like a very long thing. For the wedding in December, my brothers are coming from the U.K, but I also want my little sister in Nigeria to come on a 10 day visiting visa to the U.S. (the traditional wedding and the church wedding are within those 10 days). She is a person of integrity and will definitely return to Lagos after the wedding. Please I need advice for her, as she prepares for her interview. - She finished school three years ago with a first class, did NYSC for a year and has worked for almost 2 years at a good job. She is single. - She applied for UK visa to visit our brothers immediately after she graduated 3 years ago. She was denied because they said she just finished school and had no job. - She applied to visit in the US to last year and she got rejected. I think it was because of the UK visa denial they saw there. Also she didn't have her own money at the time. But she has been saving a lot since then, so this has changed. - My wife and her have become friends over the past two years, and now she has written a letter of introduction for her, explaining that she needs my sister - being her sister-in-law by law - to be on her bridal train for our church wedding in December. - Her work place has also written a letter of introduction for her, she has good funds in her account, and I sent her the wedding invitation to bring with her. - She has never left Nigeria before now. I know that people say it is hard to get a visa if you haven't left before, but coming to the US was also my first time out of Nigeria, and I got the student visa back then. I wish there was enough time for her to travel to somewhere else first, but we have no time for that now. - Our Mother died almost 20 years ago and our Father is in Nigeria but he is very ill and can't come for the wedding. My brothers are in the UK, and I am here in the U.S. alone. I really need my sister to also be here when my brothers come. Please advice me on how to approach this? I really don't want her to be denied again. 2 Likes |

What's your purpose of traveling? What's your intention? To migrate? Applying for visa is not about chances but about what you really want to achieve with the visa. You will get answer to your questions when you give reason why you want to travel out. Niv25: |

Hello, to be honest with you. I think you are pushing the cart before the horse. Get a stable good job, earn a monthly income that can be considered as a tie for you. Money from deals don't come monthly and your deal may stop returning you money for years and no more sustainable income to cover for you as tie. The VO point of view will be that you are potential migrant. My friend you are just 23, get yourself good education, invest in education and you will not regret it. You are already dreaming high of US, Canada and Mexico without establishing any main purpose of going to this countries. Vacations are best enjoyed with families, that is the reason VO don't usually give visa to single man or woman who want to go for vacation unless the person have a good earning job and have travel out to some countries and return. Your chance of getting visa with your present status is invisible as a tourist but may be visible as a student, apply for student visa and secure your future. God bless you. YungJo207: |

Hello, I enjoy reading your post. Best of luck in your PhD and my regards to your oyinbo wife. To set the ball rolling, point of correction. It's wrong that if you have never travel to any country before and you applied for US visa, you get denied. It's also wrong if you say your sister was denied US visa because she was previously refused UK visa. VO consider all applicants based on their merit. Your sister have a better chance to get the visa but she have to convince the visa officer that she have a good earning job that will let her return back to Nigeria after the wedding. But if the wedding is in December, don't you think it's too late for her to start visa application now, it's barely two months to December and hope she will get appointment date before the wedding. I don't like impromptu preparation, it's better you prepare early for your visa application because you can immediately follow up with another application if denied and explain to VO how important you have to travel for the event that is why you quickly reapply so as not to miss the event. Finally, it would have been very good if your oyinbo wife have come to Nigeria earlier to meet the family and take pictures together with your sister, she can apply if she will get appointment before the wedding, the only tie is her job and she should be ready to defend it very well. I pray she get the visa. 1x24: 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello, i think i have to say this out. i have already paid an agent before seeing this thread. I intend visiting the USA on a tourist visa and my agent keeps telling me i don't need to take bank statement to the embassy. She claims they only ask bank statement for conference. I own a large farm but this agent told she fixed a company for me and my ID is ready. Please is there a way i can correct all this information because i have learnt from here that whatever information one uses now will always be with the embassy. My interview is 28th of November and my plan trip is 20th December to 27th. Hotel and flight reservation have been made. I'm single and i have some little properties as my farm, house, car. could this be enough tie? no travel history except the three easiest West African countries... Any chance?? please advice! |

Please my people I'm so super nervous and need urgent reply. I have an appointment at the embassy with my two kids (3&1 years old) for a b1/b2 visa for a two weeks holiday inflorida. I have only travelled to turkey last year. And my husband is the one sponsoring our travel, he's a merchant navy. What are my chances of getting the visa and what documents is expected of me? Please help! |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by kristinbaby: 3:14pm On Oct 29, 2017 |
Hello, sorry for your ignorant victim of an agent. I can see a crocodile smile approach by your agent. Your agent want to get you invisible job, invisible job duties that you may find difficult to defend during your interview, invisible years of working, invisible ID card, invisible income and at the end get you invisible visa to America. Lol!!! Bank statement, payslip or any other documents that can show you are earning and have good income or savings is needed as supporting document for visa applications but these documents are rarely examine by VO because they can easily be perfectly doctored and forged. That is why the the VO asked questions about your work, how long you have been working, how much is your monthly income. This is to really know if you are truly working in your specified field of profession or not. If your answers don't justified your profession, the VO will know that you lie and end of interview. You can fill a new DS 160 form with your profile as farmer and make sure you give as much as possible details on your type of farming systems, your duties must be well explained and interesting to read by the VO in the section asked what are your duties. After you fill the new form, submit it and use the new DS 160 confirmation on your appointment profile, notify the embassy of the changes and print out the new appointment confirmation page showing your new DS 160 confirmation number. You will be interview based on the new DS 160 confirmation number. You are successful farmer, you own a big farm, you are single and have travelled to west African countries, you make a good monthly income from your farm and want to visit family or go for vacation or conference relating to farming in US. You must have genuine reason why you want to go to US and your profile will be 100% okay. Isn't this a good profile? Your farm is your tie but depends on how you can defend it and convince the VO that you will return back. Defend it with all your heart and the VO will put a smile in your face. Best of luck. richardsfoster09: 3 Likes 1 Share |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by kristinbaby: 3:23pm On Oct 29, 2017 |
Hello, your chances are very bright to get the visa. Be prepared to defend why your husband is not traveling with you. Did you travel to turkey alone? Prepare to defend questions on what you were doing in turkey. Hope these kids are not suppose to be in school when you intend to travel? Have a reasonable amount as budget to cover for 3 people for your traveling. Go with any documents to support your job, your husband approval to travel with the kids and your sponsor financial proof. All these documents are rarely checked. What you fill in your DS 160 form and your answers during the interview is what will determine if the VO will grant you the visa. Best of luck. kristinbaby:Thanks so much for your kind response. She already submitted her application, and she has an appointment. Her interview is this week. I am just trying to get some insight / hints so that she can be better prepared this time around. You said her only tie is her job. What about our father? Does that not usually count as a tie? God bless you. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by kristinbaby: 5:27pm On Oct 29, 2017 |
Best of luck in her interview. Parents don't usually count as a tie in a situation when applicant is a working class. Parents become a tie when they stand as sponsor for their children either for student visa or any other purpose of traveling out of the country. Best of luck to your first class sister. She must be brilliant, I see her smiling out with a white paper!!! 1x24: |

OmoBendel24: I understand how it sounds, but we all got scholarships to study in the US and the UK (and my other brother got a work/study opportunity in the UK). Shouldn't we have taken the opportunity? We are only trying to advance our careers. Nigeria is our home, and even my wife is coming with me when we finish - that's why we have been trying to get her a visit visa to Nigeria first. I have been so surprised to find out how hard it is for an American to get a visa to visit Nigeria. I also hear there is some Naija wives kind of permanent document that will allow her to stay and work in Nigeria. We are looking into that too. As for our Father, no you have assumed wrong oh. We take turns and travel back and forth a lot, also send money for his treatment and upkeep, like good kids should, as well as support our sister too. She really isn't "saddled" with taking care of him alone. Besides, he also remarried after our mum died - she died almost 20 years ago. Reading between the lines, when you say "despite the progresses in her personal life" - I think I should also say that she personally would like to visit and meet my wife (her sister-in-law, and her friend). We are not the ones pushing her to come and visit, but we would really like her for her to do that, too! None of us believe in breaking any sort of laws whatsoever, so her returning to Lagos after the visit is not even a question at all. Thanks a lot for your input sir/madam! 2 Likes 2 Shares |

1x24:One of the most important thing you can do for your sister is send her a copy of your passport and visa so she can take it to the embassy also am kind of not feeling good about you getting married on a student visa unless it's accepted even if it's accepted what is the probability that she won't do it when she's in U.S? |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by seyewest(m): 9:17am On Oct 30, 2017 |
Doctorcue: Are you still studying or not? Apply and let them know your status if you're still studying also if your plan is to go for conference I will advise you to stay in hotel not your sister's place although that does not stop you from visiting her if eventually you get the visa. |

Good morning Lagos NIV & Abuja NIV Yes, I have a question to ask... I'm confused. I have once applied for a NIV 2years ago. During my application, I was married to my ex, but we never had any legal documents joining us. (No Court wedding). We started dating from the University series. Right now, we are not in good terms and we have gone our separate ways for good. No kids involved too. I will like to apply for a NIV this year as I'm filling my DS-160. I'm stuck with this question... Are you married? I'm very much single right now. What's the best option for me to select? Because, if I choose divorced, I don't have any paperwork to defend this. Kindly shed more light please. I don't want to misinterpret. Thank you.

Lee310:Let me tell you what I read from in between the the lines. When you applied the first time, u claimed to be married. Now it's coming back to haunt u. If I'm wrong, apologies. Well the answer to your question lies with u sir. U said you were married. Only u know the form of marriage so only you can say the form of said marriage 's dissolution. You can check what qualifies as a marriage in Nigeria, the different forms. So when you answer that, you can now know know your legal status now. Any marriage your contracted can be proved, even the traditional form. So if you are not being honest, rethink your story. It won't wash |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by Lee310: 2:28pm On Oct 30, 2017 |
Thank you LadyG. I really do appreciate your effort and response. Since checking in between the lines as you said, I can call our relationship "domestic partnership" in line with the DS-160 form. Please what's the best solution to my problem because I don't want to complicate matter. |
