edmasta01:First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your miracle baby. I can relate totally to how you feel right now, please take great care of madam oh.. we will also rejoice with you after the safe delivery . Now, the point @justwise and co. were trying to bring out is a highly contested view on double taxtion for US citizens..( read part 3&4..for more details). Infact, the consenus then was that FACTA is even already at work in Nigeria due to bilateral argreement with USA and we parents of American children should prepare for the taxation once they become of age. We also had someone who was in your unique situation as well, can't remember how that ended up. (use the earch engine for answers on what to say at POE from past experience..) So my advise to you at this point in time, ignore any comment which may seem rude and distasteful to you at first glance. Most times, it was not meant to be that way. We are a loving family group here, and although sometimes we tend to come off rash and harsh, know that in times of distress we are all ready to assist with our knowledge and experience. Just my 2 cents. Ciao! 17 Likes |

Hi guys! Like you say, in the spirit of giving back, just got into the USA and I had to to do this cos this journey won't have been possible without nairaland. Had an existing visa I got before I got pregnant, hadn't used it so I sent change of intent and got the generic reply. My aunts and cousins here researched and researched cos I'm going to Colorado. We finally found a very affordable deal (will post the details later) Don't want to post any details here till I go there first. So I flew virgin at 34wks 5dys, they accepted my fit to fly, flight was uneventful, landed at JFK by 10:15pm. I requested wheelchair and I'm glad I did cos the crowd was insane, finally got to PoE Cbp: hello what're you here for? Me: Holiday and to have my baby Cbp: oh you're having a baby? Me: yup I am Cbp: did you inform them when you were collecting the visa Me: no, cos I wasn't pregnant then but I sent them a mail ( he asked to see it and I gave him) Cbp: hope you're ready to pay all your bills and I said yup, he said how much do you have? Me: $7k Cbp: why colorado? Me: that's where I have family Cbp: how did you get the hospital? Me: myself and my aunts researched and I have my correspondence with the hospital ( bringing out my docs, he said he didn't need to see it) Cbp: ok please pay all your bills and keep your receipts, all the best with your baby. Me: thanks. I declared food but no one stopped me, carried my kaya and disappeared. Big thank you to everyone that contributes here, you guys help out a lot. I'll post the details of my bills or what it might be when I settle in and finalise plans. 20 Likes |

Congratulations on your POE. Seems JFK is always with ease. I wish you safe delivery. You may find it difficult to renew your visa after it expired. God bless you. daks01: 1 Like |

It depends on the Doctor, ask the doctor what he/she want and do the needful. Ayob3: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by kristinbaby: 12:14pm On Oct 29, 2017 |
@sparkle1515. Yes the CBP have the final say because your B1/B2 visa covers medical tourism. The CBP will let you in as long as you have doctor appointment and declare that you can foot your bills. (In few cases some CBP may send you back). You have to understand that the CBP will note it on her file that she is not using the visa for the purpose she was issued the visa and that will affect her visa renewal. Change of intent is not on any record with the embassy. Sparkle1515: |

For me, you can either look at the glass half full or half empty. You are right regarding the tonnes of info here and on the web but I just feel that the information- whether hidden or opened would always get out. When I heard of the hospital and asked on the platform last November, I didn't get a response on the thread and i called the hospital immediately and spoke to a point person who gave me the fees. Still was not satisfied, I spoke to a friend who lives in the city to help confirm and she did and that was it. Also, on the VOA matter, I did fall mugu by paying for processing, the next day I found out I could do it myself and immediately I told those that I'd shared info with not to pay for it and contact the address themselves. I even shared a format of the letter on the thread. My point is we may not want to share it on here cos of these agents who feed on peoples' sweat but as long as the sun still comes out, nothing would be hidden under it. So as you rightly said, its everyones' prerogative to do what they like with the information they have. on a lighter note, madam nef, i still dey your back baddo: 2 Likes |

Hi Ayob3. As someone stated earlier, it depends on the doctor (and also the hospital the doctor has delivery privileges in...as some doctors accept but sometimes clearly state that their hospitals don't.) Since your doctor has stated they accept, i'd advice the results are at least the typed kind...as results from most general hospitals in Nigeria (though valid here) are hand-written, which is unacceptable in many places around the world. Sorry to learn about your refusal ugoguchy! As adviced by many here, Pls reapply and reapply ASAP! You are on the side of truth & propriety...you did things properly, as best as you could. From my 'small' experience, people with valid cases who were turned down mostly are given when they reapply ASAP...it seems to communicate some boldness & confidence as to the credence of your facts & circumstances at being deserving of a visa... #MyOpinion VOs are human and like all humans, sometimes facts can be misunderstood, not-properly-read etc. A few pages back, someone was called for an interview after DropBox, only to be told she was called in erroneously. Another VO, would be unwise not to more carefully review the facts at your reapplication. Secondly, your husband has a valid visa. The strength of one's spouses travel history should also be a plus when reapplying...especially if you are planning to travel together at your planned trip . Thirdly, the beauty of the truth is consistency of the facts. Don't fall to the temptation to "polish" a few facts based on suggestions here and there... Stick to your story, since it's true Finally, maybe you should do Lagos. ugoguchy: 1 Like |

@All ....Hello everyone in the house...pls I have peculiar case and I need urgent response. My wife is due for B1/B2 visa interview this week and we claim to be travelling on Christmas vacation together because I already have visa.Pls advise because we intend that she give birth by February 2018 in US and we may not likely go in December if given the visa because we need enough funds for the possible delivery in February. Does she have to tell the V.O(without been asked) that she is presently pregnant and intends to have the baby next year in the US possibly after the Christmas vacation which we are not likely to?since they say notice of change of intention is not relevant..... |

justwise: Hi justwise. Where some one with an existing visa which has been used for the purpose it was gotten for gets pregnant along the line, and applies for another visa in other to clearly declare intention but gets denied, what becomes the status of the pre existing visa? Such application is it via dropbox or what? Can such a person be denied at all? Is there a legal way to declare intention without applying for another visa? Since change of intent letter don't seem to carry much weight again? |
