'What do you think is in there.' The first minion asked.

'This better not be a joke. I scare easily.' The second one said obviously terrified.

'Scareddy cat.' The first said moving towards the boot. 'Watch me open this up.'

He opened the boot and what happened next was a blurr of actions.

***

'Ahh!' It was Ridwan's turn to scream as he was attacked with painful current of electricity.

'Will you be quiet and let me think?' Charlie yelled.

'Damn you. What have you been doing all thus while.' Ridwan screamed in pain.

'I've been thinking. The problem is,once I've got a semblance of an idea, this sumbitch zaps me and my ideas go - aaahhh!' Charlie ended with a loud scream as the wires were pressed against his wet skin, sending electricity crackling through his body.

'I think you're ready to die now.' Eye patch said to a non responsive Charlie. His body was smoking and his clothes were nearly burnt off.

Suddenly there was a loud noise from outside.

'You two,go check it out.' Patch yelled at his men.

***

Castiel sprang out of the trunk. He grabbed his liberator by the neck, hurled him partly into the open trunk then with his other hand,he slammed the boot on his back.

'Bleep' The other minion said cocking his gun.

Before he could fire his gun however,Castiel had opened the boot and pulled the hurt minion in front of himself making the other guy empty his clip into his own partner.

Castiel unsheathed a knife from the dead minion and dropped his human shield.

Giving the other guy no time to reload his weapon,Castiel took fast steps and was in front of his opponent, sending his knuckles into the inverted 'v' where his ribs met, paralyzing his diaphragm.

The second minion opened his mouth as if to say something but no words came out as Castiel slit his throat with the knife he got from his dead bullet shield.

Castiel wasn't given time to revel in his bloodbath of a victory as two more minions rushed out of the building.

'Open fire!' One of them screamed and in the next minute,an hail of bullets were going in Castiel's direction.

Castiel inhaled from where he sat,at the other side of the beast which was currently taking the bullets from the two mad men.

He held the knife by the blade and counted the number of ammo the mercenaries had left.

'Now!.' He thought as he got up and threw the knife into the skull of a first. He jumped over the beast and ran towards the next mercenary who had been to startled to find his spare clip and had pulled out a jack knife.

Castiel dodged the first swing to his face and caught his opponent by the wrist. He twisted the mercenary's wrist, withstanding 'What do you think is in there.' The first minion asked.

'Hey.' Eye patch called. 'You dead?'

Charlie remained unresponsive, dangling from the bar he was hanging from.

Eye patch went closer to him and slapped his face. No response.

'You going to kiss him or what.' Ridwan mocked. 'Or your single eye needs an extra lens.?'

Eye patch turned around to face Ridwan but was restricted as Charlie curled his legs around his neck from behind.

'My turn.' Charlie said constricting his legs around eye patch's neck trying to asphyxiate him.

The two other minions pointed their guns at Charlie.

'Let me go,you're outgunned.' Eye patch said.

'Says who.' A voice said from the entrance.

'Count your guns again.' Castiel said after lodging bullets in the two minions body. He was holding a gun in each hand.

'Who the Bleep are you.' Eye patched asked frustrated.

'I'm the guy killing your goons with their own weapons.' Castiel responded.

Charlie kicked the eye patch mercenary away from himself.

He was in utter disbelief. How was Castiel here. He had seen him get knocked out of a storey building on the night of the eclipse. How was he alive. More importantly, why was he here and why did he help them.

Eye patch fell from Charlie's kick. He tried to stand up but fell immediately as Castiel sent a bullet to turn off his brains.

'Castiel?' Charlie asked.

'Surprised to see me?' He asked as he released Ridwan from his restraints.

'How the Bleep are you alive. What the Bleep are you doing here.' Charlie asked as Castiel unlocked the cuffs on his hand.

Immediately Charlie hit the ground,he stood up and wrestled Castiel to the ground.

'Where the Bleep have you been. Where's the contract.?' Charlie yelled, squeezing his hands around Castiel's neck.

'You're only hurting Dhayms and yourself. You know that right.' Castiel didn't resist Charlie's assault.

'Let the man go.' Ridwan said. 'He did save our lives'

'I had that under control.' Charlie replied.

'Just let him be.' Ridwan adviced. 'Let's hear what he has to say.'

Charlie stood up from ontop Castiel and helped him up.

Castiel dusted his clothes and clear his throat.

'Don't be rude to someone that just saved your life.' Castiel teased.

'Answer my questions.' Charlie bellowed.

Castiel looked from Charlie to Ridwan.

'Humour him' Ridwan encouraged.

'Alright. That night. The night of the earthquake. That night,a rift was opened between the physical world and the spirit world. A lot of para demons were released into this world. The contract was taken into the other side. Along with Loki, your pal.' Castiel said.

There was silence in the room before Charlie spoke.

'Is that all you have to say? There are parademons roaming the streets. Wtf dude. You think I'm going to believe anything you say?' Charlie yelled in rage and disgust.

He had failed Loki again that night and here was the cause of his failure. Right in front of him where he could just grab his neck and strangle him.

'Why have you come to us with all this.' Ridwan asked. 'Why should we believe you after all you did.'

'I know I can't take back all I did that night. I'm really sorry but all I can tell you is that I was really desperate to acquire the contract.' Castiel stated.

'You killed a lot of people that night and yet you blame it on desperation.' Charlie answered.

'Don't stand there and point accusing fingers at me as if you wouldn't do worse if it guaranteed a chance to return Loki to his physical body.' Castiel shot back.

Charlie stopped his next set of harsh words. He knew deep inside him what evils he would have done to restore Loki. What lengths he would go to retrieve Loki from the spirit world.

'What does the contract mean to you.' Charlie asked.

'The pilgrim's contract was said to have a lot of powers. Amongst them were opening and closing of pathways- breaches between the two dimensions.' Castiel explained.

'After years of molestation from the exorcism council, one of our demon races have gone extinct. The people pestered the Demon king to take military action. But the king sought for a way to settle the conflict without shedding any blood. Demon or Human.

'It was in his numerous searches that he found out about the pilgrim's contract. The contract made between the first demon to cross over and the human that received him. The book was however lost in the human world.

'The king was going to send a search party to the other world on a solstice but he was intercepted by a coup. A coup led by his own father, the king before him and a herd of parademons he raised himself.'

'What happened to the king.' Ridwan asked.

'He was beheaded. Executed in front of his people by his own father.' Castiel answered.

'How does this relate to you.' Charlie asked.

'The king was my father. I'm the rightful heir to the throne if the spirit world. I needed something to make the people believe in me. I needed to give them hope. Unlike my grandfather that rules with fear.' Castiel had a dark expression on his face.

'I don't buy that crap.' Charlie said.

'Seems pretty convincing to me.' Ridwan remarked.

'I don't need you to believe me.' Castiel said. 'I'm here to make a deal. You help me get back the contract and I'll give you Loki. In his physical body.'

'Is the contract powerful enough to do that?.' Ridwan asked.

'It is.' Charlie answered. 'How do we get the contract back from the spirit world.' He asked Castiel.

'First things first. We have to meet up with the other members of this team.' Castiel said. 'I've already seen Horlah and Sia. They will meet up with Toni at Kaduna which is where we have to be.'

'Toni. How is she.' Ridwan asked. He had missed her.

'Different from the last time you saw her,I'm afraid.' Castiel said.

'You haven't spoken to her about this.' Charlie asked. It was more of a statement than a question.

'I'm afraid not.' Castiel answered. ' in her current state, I didn't think someone like me was in a position to woo her into my schemes. That's where Ridwan comes to play.'

'Good.' Ridwan said.

'You're missing one important detail.' Charlie started. 'How do we get to Kaduna? Ridwan's car is broken.'

'The men that captured the two of you drove big cars.' Castiel responded.

'Good idea' Charlie said as they left the room.

'I'm still towing the beast.' Ridwan pointed out.

'Cross city?' Charlie said in disbelief.

'You betcha.' Ridwan answered.

'Excuse me. The beast? You hoarding a parademon or something.' Castiel asked oblivious of who the beast was.

Ridwan only laughed at himself and Charlie joined in,leaving Castiel confused.

A few minutes later, they were in two SUVs,driving out of warri on their way to Kaduna.

Charlie dropped his cell. He had just finished talking to someone.

'I just called Ace. He'll meet us at Kaduna.' Charlie informed Ridwan.

'That's good news.' Ridwan said focusing on his driving. 'Hope he's not still mad about his girl'

'No way. He's cool.' Charlie said then tried to change the topic. 'It's been a while since I've seen the others. You think they would have changed.?'

'Yeah. They should have.' Ridwan answered. 'Horlah and Sia will be married and Toni's afro will be bigger than ever. She'll drive a sedan. I bet.'

'Damn. You really like this lady don't you.' Charlie remarked.

'I like women. I don't woo men' Ridwan punned.

'What's that supposed to mean?' Charlie ask.

'If not for the stunt you pulled off on Ace's girl, I would have thought you were gay or something. What with your constant 'I have to save Loki.' 'There's virtually nothing I wouldn't try to save Loki.' Ridwan finished, imitating Charlie's voice at the end

'Curse you. I don't sound like that.' Charlie swore.

Ridwan was about to say something but Castiel slowed down and put his car side by side to the one Ridwan was driving.

'Road safety officials up ahead. We'll take a short cut. Follow my lead.' Castiel said and resumed acceleration.

'Damn. How can he do that.' Ridwan asked.

'Demon possession increases the physical capability of the individual, including their senses.' Charlie explained.

'That's wicked.' Remarked.

'The trip's getting boring, let's hear some jamz.' Charlie said and turned on the radio.

'...An airliner going from Muritala Mohammed international airpot,Lagos to Kaduna crashes after an unknown passenger opens the door causing an imbalance of pressure. There were barely any survivors and forensics are trying to identify the bodies. In other news, the president has passed a bill to increase the salaries of writers on nairaland...'

'Why do I have a bad feeling about this.' Ridwan asked, turning off the radio.

'I have that same bad feeling.' Charlie said with a look of concern.

Kaduna.

'I can't run anymore. I'm tired.' Sia said.

'We have to keep going.' Horlah shouted. 'They mean to kill us.'

It was night and the rain fell in waves as Horlah and Sia ran away from their attackers. It wasn't long until they hit a dead end when the entered the wrong alley.

The attacking parademons closed in on them. Sia tried to scream but the terror seemed to choke her.

There were four of them. They looked human at first but then their faces burnt off to reveal red skulls with thorns for hair and beards.

'Where is the contract.' A feminine voice said.

Horlah saw her face when lightning flashed across the sky. He recognized her from inside the plane. She was the one that opened the door.

'I'm Cass.' She said moving towards him. 'You must have met my brother. Castiel. Unlike him,I'm only trying to go back home. Presenting grandfather with the contract is the only way he'll accept me'

'We don't have the contract.' Horla said. 'It vanished the night of the earthquake.'

'Lies.' Cass said. 'The pilgrim's contract can't just disappear. Unless of course, somebody took it. And I'm going to make you tell me who.'

One of the parademons moved closer to the cornered duo but a projectile got stuck in his skull. Everyone looked at the projectile. It was a ninja shuriken.

'Guh!' The parademon exclaimed in pain as he was vaporized by blue flames that engulfed him.

'Impossible.' Cass said as she looked up at the person who thre the projectile.

It was dark and she couldn't make out a face. Only a slim figure in black clothes and a mafia trench coat. A figure that unleashed carnage on her and her henchmen.

The three parademons rushed the new comer, trying to claw them down with their fists. The lone figure didn't appear fazed and pulled out two batons from within black trench coat. One in each hand. They had black leather handles and metallic tops shaped like lion heads.

The parademons blocked the baton swipes from their attacker, sparks of blue flames flying from the surface of contact between their skin and the baton. The pain was unbearable but an herd of parademons was always loyal to its herdmaster, obeying all orders even if it meant certain death.

They blocked and evaded the attacks of this unknown enemy in a trench coat, their hearts pounding as adrenaline coursed through their veins.

They weren't enough as in two clean moves, their assailant flicked one of the batons, protracting a small bladed projection on the metallic end then with a thin string-which they never knew was attached to the batons at the other end, until it was used to pull back one of the batons to stab one of them in back when they dodged it after it had initially been thrown - the black trench coat figure massacred the parademon with clean swipes of the hand, converting them to blue flames that died out almost immediately they started, leaving no residues.

Skill had trumped number and the skilled baton user faced a terrified Cass.

Cass was terrified and frustrated. All she wanted was to find the missing contract so her grandfather could accept her back into his fold and they could rule the two worlds together. These pesky humans just had to interfere. And now there was this. She hoped it was a mistake and this person wasn't who she thought it was.

'First you survive a plane crash now you have a dark exorcist for a guardian angel. How lucky can you guys get.' Cass said and quickly left the body she had possessed, preferring the more agile ethereal state of her demon form to escape the dark exorcist that was about to throw a shuriken at her before she left her vessel in a cloud of black smoke.

The black smoke that was Cass's demon form rised into the air and vanished in the dark skies.

The dark exorcist walked up go Horlah and Sis. Sia was already out cold.

Horla saw their rescuer's face when lightning flashed across the sky. He was confused but felt a certain warmth before he passed out.

----

It was early morning when Castiel,Ridwan and Charlie arrived Kaduna.

The sky was a dull colour and people were just getting out of their homes and traffic was really light.

Castiel pulled over and went into the car trailing behind him and slipped into the back seat.

'Why are you here.' Charlie said while Ridwan parked properly.

'There's no sign of Horlah and Sia.' Castiel said. 'They both aren't picking up their phones.'

'Maybe they are in a hotel making love.' Charlie remarked.

'Why is it always a knife fight each time you open your mouth?' Castiel complained.

'You have to learn to live with him.' Ridwan said.

'And why is that.' Charlie asked.

'I'm leaving you guys behind.' Ridwan begin. 'I'll be back. Just have to go to an auto shop'

'What for? We've got good wheels right here.' Castiel said.

'If it ain't the beast,it ain't my ride.' Ridwan remarked. 'Y'all can let yourselves out.'

Once Castiel and Charlie had alighted,Ridwan drove off into the gloomy morning.

'There he goes. With no care for the world.' Charlie said.

'We have to hit the road as soon as possible.' Castiel said.

'What do you mean we?. I'm not going anywhere with you dude.' Charlie said irritantly.

'We're both fugitives. Wanted by the law. And last I checked, you can't drive.' Castiel almost rolled his eyes.

'I'll find my way.' Charlie said and started walking away.

'We made a deal.' Castiel grabbed Charlie by the arm. 'You get me the contract and I give you Loki.'

'I'm not forgetting that. I'll get you the contract. But we do it my way and don't involve the others. This is between you and I. Get that.' Charlie said seriously.

'That's not a good idea but if that's what you want. Fine then,we do it your way.' Castiel said.

And with that, they abandoned the SUV and chugged off street into the back roads.

The sky looked cloudy and misty, threatening to rain as Ridwan gave the schematics for his ride to the auto shop owner.

He walked out of the shop, heading for the SUV he came in. Unknown to him,he was being watched by some casual clothed police officers. The moment he opened the car with the remote opener, they were onto him.

'Kaduna state police. You are under arrest.' One of the officers said to a fleeing Ridwan.

'Bleep!' Ridwan exclaimed as he tripped on a bicycle chain.

In no time, one of the officers was slapping cuffs on his wrists while the other read him his rights.

The trip to the police station was quick and Ridwan felt like cattle for being reckless and getting caught so easily.

'Damn.' He thought. 'A bicycle chain?. What bad luck.'

Ridwan was immediately tossed in an interrogation room, his hands handcuffed to the metallic table he was sitting in front. Another chair was facing him on the opposite end of the table.

Two detectives walked into the room, dressed in suits. One had a file in his hands while the other looked angry.

The one with the file sat opposite Ridwan while the other took off his coat, folded his sleeves and started pacing the room.

'How do I address you.' The seated cop asked.

'Ridwan's fine.'

'Ok. Mr. Ridwan. You're being charged of arson, illegal car racing, car theft and a lot more crimes that I can't count.' Ridwan's interrogator started.

'I hear you loud and clear.' Ridwan tried bullshitting the cop, something Charlie would try to do. 'But I don't see the point of this conversation if I'm not allowed to call my lawyer.'

'You'll need to answer a few question. If that's okay with you.' The seated cop said calmly.

'Nothing here is okay with me. These cuffs are to tight,I'm hungry and I need to call my lawyer. A. S. A. P.' Ridwan said.

'Enough of your bullshit.' The coatless cop who had been pacing the room before now yelled, slamming his palm on the table as he spoke. 'We've got enough to send you away for life whether or not you have a lawyer. The only thing we need to know is the whereabouts of your accomplice who you should know has a bigger rap sheet than you.'

'Wow. Easy on the table Van damme. You might break it.' Ridwan mocked.

'I would break you nose if my boss wasn't on the other side of the one way mirror taking notes.' The coatless cop threatened.

'You on steroids or something?' Ridwan asked then waved at the one way mirror he hadn't noticed before.

On the other end of the mirror, somebody face palmed.

Charlie and Castiel walked into a dark alley, bumping into each other as they felt their way through the darkness.

'Where are we headed.' Castiel asked.

'There's an old exorcist- Well he's retired now. He owes me a favour. ' Charlie answered.

'So?' Castiel demanded for the whole gist.

'I used to smuggle some items for him when i was still in exorcism school. So,he owes me a lot.' Charlie was saying while trying to figure out the right way to take.

'That still doesn't explain why we're in a dark hell hole.' Castiel complained.

'Well, this 'hell hole' is like a catacomb which leads everywhere. If I can just find the right way,i'll get us to Mr. Miyagi in no time.' Charlie said.

'Mr. Miyagi?' Castiel asked.

'Well, the Said old man used to be my mentor of sorts before he was made to retire.' Charlie answered.

'Why would you retire an exorcist?.' Castiel pondered. 'You humans take exorcism as a serious job.'

'True,Its a serious job.' Charlie started answering. 'But the old man took it more serious after a demon possessed and killed his wife. He went nuts ans turned to a darker form of exorcism.'

'Dark form of excorcism? The act itself is dark where i come from. I can't imagine anyone in his sane mind casting a commensal existence out of Its host and binding them back to their home which they just escaped.' Castiel argued.

'You call denial of human freedom commensal existence. There's nothing for the human to gain.' Charlie countered.

'Of course. A demon never goes back on Its words. The argreement made with the vessel is usually fulfilled after the demon has had his time. And higher demon grant a form of temporary immortality to the host.' Castiel words came out matter of factedly.

'When is that ever true.' Charlie asked.

'The exorcism council didn't teach you anything did they.' Castiel asked.

'They taught me enough. Never trust a demon.' Charlie blurted out.

'And I see you're taking well to their lessons.' Castiel said sarcastic, referring to their current situation in which Charlie is seemingly trusting him to bring Loki back.

'I don't trust you. I'll get you the contract in exchange for Loki then we'll see who double crosses who first.' Charlie exclaimed.

'So,that's how it is.' Castiel started. 'We'd better settle our differences before we get the contract or else things could go wrong.'

'What could go wrong.' Charlie asked.

As if on cue,a group of men came out of the shadows. They all had weapons ranging from steel pipes, pitch forks,to shovels and baseball bats.

'A man hunt.' One of the guys answered 'Stay away from him.'

'What do you want from him?'. Charlie asked.

'Him?' The man said as if Charlie had said something out of his vocabulary. 'We came for you.'

'Oh.' Charlie exclaimed. 'Why's that. What do you want.'

'The bounty.' Another man said. 'You've worked up quite the price.'

'Knew you was familiar when I saw you at the inn. So,I told bossman. You must have offended very powerful people for them to pay five million naira for you. Dead or alive.' A third man said.

'I guess its high time I took my leave.' Castiel said.

'Wait wait wait.' Charlie hollered. 'You were just saying something about a demon not going back on his deal. You really are going to let this goons murder me? We made a deal remember.'

'The deal doesn't involve me fighting men who are seeking to kill you.' Castiel pointed out.

'Well it does now.' Charlie said. 'A dead man can't get you the contract'

'Humph! Since you've decided to make this my fight, their deaths are on you.' Castiel folded his sleeves then faced the bounty hunters. 'If you want him, then you have to go through me.'

Horla watched as Sia woke up. She had passed out before him but had still managed to stay out longer than him. Their saviour was no where to be found. Horlah brushed away the thought of seeing their saviour's face. It can't be who he thought he saw. He must have been really exhausted when he passed out.

The fact that both of them had survived the plane crash unscathed while the others had died still bothered him. He wasn't surprise Cass was still kicking after being sucked out of the plane at high altitude. She was a demon after all.

But somehow, somewhere deep in his mind,he knew how they had survived. He knew what had happened, what he had done. But he kept on hoping that part was a dream and they had only survived miraculuously.

'Hey. Slow down, you're safe.' Horlah said as Sia shifted uncomfortably.

'How are we alive.' Sia asked confused.

'We were saved by someone. A dark exorcist as Cass said.' Horlah answered.

'No. Not then. We crashed. You were pulled out the open door and I hit my head on a window.' She grabbed her temple. 'I remember. It still hurts.'

'I guess we were lucky.' Horlah said smiling.

'Tell me.' Sia looked concerned. 'What really happened.'

'You really want to know.' Horlah's face had a sullen expression. 'I got caught up on the plane's wing when I was sucked out. I hung on and prayed. I begged every force in the universe. Anyone that was listening. I didn't ask for myself. I asked for you to be safe. At any cost. Any price.

' When I opened my eyes after the crash,I was in an open clearing. I saw the wing I held to nearby. It must have torn off the plane and I,thrown off of it.

'I ran towards the wreckage of the plane hoping you were safe. That was the fastest hundred meters of my life. I entered and was greeted with the stench of gore and death. All the passengers were dead and for a second I was worried you were too.

'I saw movement and when I turned the body over,it was you. You came back to me. You were alive. I can't explain how happy I was.'

'Thank you.' Sia whispered.

'What for.' Horlah asked.

'For always being there for me.' Sia said and hugged Horlah.

'Ahh!' Horlah groaned, holding his chest as he broke the hug.

'What's it.' Sia asked.

'Probably nothing.' Horlah. 'Give me a minute.'

Horlah got up and headed for the rest room.

He locked the door then took of his shirt, checking out hid chest in the mirror.

There was an engraved marking in his chest. An arrow head inside a circle. The symbol glowed a bright red and he felt excrutiating pain.

Horlah stifled another groan and realised what had happened. In his desperation to save Sia,he he had sold his body as a vessel. A different kind of vessel.

He collapsed and sat with his back to the door. He heard Sia call his name from the other side of the door but he didn't answer her. He couldn't. Not when he could be possessed by an evil tyrant at any moment.

'Let me have a mono-a-mono eith him.' The seated cop said making the other cop excuse them.

'So,you're gonna offer me a better, safer deal right? Just after he threatens me. Still playing good cop,bad cop in this modern age?' Ridwan jestered. 'What. You're good cop and he's bad cop while both of you are actually good men.'

'You don't understand. The situation has changed.' The good cop said, taking off his glasses. 'You talk about demons and possessions. Buy what do you know about them. Hmm.

'There are different type of demons. There are messenger demons, nobles and the higher demons. There used to be worker demons but a sect called the exorcism council wiped them out just to show superiority to the demons.

'Demons were then forbidden from crossing over to the physical world. The exorcism council grew weak and banned the usage of dark exorcism because it killed both host and demon. Of course ; killing a race of demons is fine but killing a human is taboo to them.

'Then a demon came up with a plan. Parademons. Half human half demons, made by binding a demon to a human with the use of the pilgrim's contract. It worked but then the contract was lost during the war to end all wars when demons were being called upon as foot soldiers. Of course, the most casualities came from the demons and parademons.

'The contract is safely in the hands of the demon king all thank to you and your friends opening a rift into the spirit world that night; the night the earth shook.

'Our revolution is about to begin. But before that,an important detail has to be fulfilled. We need a necropolis to create a new army of parademons.'

'You're a demon' Ridwan managed to saw despite the terror trying to seal his lips. 'What has this got to do with me. You know you can't kill me here, right?'

'No one is going to be killing you. There's no fun in that.' The demon cop said. 'See,there used to be three higher demons. The were like parasitic demons. They feed on other demons and that fueled them to do certain extraordinary things. One was the pilgrim, maker of the contract and first to cross to the physical world. Unfortunately,he has been destroyed by the exorcist council. The second is the new demon king who was deposed by his own son. But now,he's consumed his son and gained more power.' He placed his hand on Ridwan's shoulder.

'The third?' Ridwan asked.

The demon cop brought out a parcel from his suit and placed it on the metal table.

'A demon so powerful he his called the harbinger of death. He was banished into this parcel because of his unnecessary disintegration of things when he was bored.

'But now,his help is needed to create a necropolis in the physical world. But there is a catch. He needs a vessel in the physical world.'

'No. No. No.' Ridwan yelled. 'Don't do this to me.'

The demon cop opened the parcel and out came black smoke like a tornado, whooshing about the room and covering it in darkness.

Out of the darkness,Ridwan saw two crimson red orbs which could pass for eyes.

'Let me in.' A loud voice echoed in Ridwan's mind.

'Never!' Ridwan yelled.

'Thats what everyone says. But I see you have feelings. Feeling of affections for someone.' The voice said. 'You will let me in just to keep her safe.'

In the darkness,Ridwan was faced with a vision of Toni being attacked by countless parademons. They clawed at her, cutting bits and bits of her flesh while branding her with red hot metal. She was in excrutiating pain and Ridwan couldn't bear to watch.

Somewhere in between want and care, the fear of something like this actually happening finally broke him.

'Make it stop.' He yelled. Then lowly,he said. 'I'm sorry.'

Castiel broke another man's arm, then sent the man's body crashing into another's with a loud thud.

Charlie ducked under a pitch fork directed to his head. He inched towards his attacker and wrestled him to the ground.

Two of the bounty hunters stalked towards Castiel. One had a matchete and the other had a staff. He couldn't waste time on them. There were six others to be delt with.

Castiel grabbed the staff as it was swung at him. The pain in his palm didn't mean anything to him as he pulled the man with the staff towards himself. With a quick jab to the side of the neck,he disabled the man and when the marchers wielder swung his weapon,it found its way to the staff holder's neck

The confused matchette wielder got a kick to his face which made him fall and drop his matchette.

Castiel picked up the matchette and brandishing it in one hand,he called out.

'Come at me at once with all you've got.'

Sia knocked on the door, hoping Horlah would open it but he didn't. He had suddenly left her and she was sure she wanted him badly. What was going on with him and why had he locked himself up.

They had been together these past two years and one thing Sia could tell for certain was that he loved her and she shared the same feeling fot him.

But she just couldn't understand his behaviour. He had suddenly acted like he would rather be elsewhere than with her.

She didn't know why she felt a rush in her heart. A feeling of longing,of want. She felt tears well up in her eyes.

As the first drop of tear rolled off her cheek, she was rewarded with the man she loved.

The door came open and out came a shirtless Horlah.

'I love you.' He started. 'And I'ld rather be with you than sit in a corner waiting for an unavoidable end.'

'What's going on.' Sia asked confused.

Horlag planted a strong kiss on her lips and more tears rolled down her eyes. It was a passionate kiss but she couldn't help but feel the darkness in his tone. Something was wrong and he didn't want to tell her.

But still, she had wanted this for a very long time.

'I love you too.'

Sia managed to say before Horlah kissed her again. This time, more deeply than before.

He grabbed her waist and raised her off her feet while she curled her legs round him.

Horlah placed her on a table and broke the kiss. They were both panting as he said.

'A lot of things are happening but I can't let it come in between us. You're the only thing I can think of. And I think I want to spend the rest of my life with you.'

Sia had just parted her lips to say something when Horlah came at her again. Kissing her with all hid heart. She returned the kiss and in the next minute it was like they had a tournament for who could kiss the other better.

In time, there was a heap of clothes and two naked bodies.

***

The door was opened and Toni would have walked in on the stripping duo had she not glanced into the room before taking a step.

There was a trace of a smile on her face and she felt she would have been happy for them than she felt at the moment had she not been introduced to this world of demons and exorcism.

Horlah and Sia coming together had been her personal work as she had been the one to make them come in contact with each other with the sitting arrangement stunt she performed about two years ago.

Toni shrugged the feeling off her mind and walked upstairs to her bathroom where she took off her trench coat. She had a full body suit on. It pressed on her skin, outlining her curves and contours.

Toni had changed in all these two years. She was no longer slender lady with the afro who was so innocent and scared.

Toni had grown curvy and had D cups on her pects. Her deltoid were outlined like a regular atheletic female and her skin reflected the candle light like it was made of molten gold as she took off her suit.

She stepped into the bath tub one foot at a time. The tub was filled with foam and her body was hidden from view.

The past two years had been tense and difficult. She had enrolled at the exorcism council's school of exorcism. She was remarked as being the most disciplined student the school ever enrolled and in only half a year, she had read almost all the books in the libraries.

The only books left for her to read were the ones in the restricted section and when her charms failed to grant her passage their, she had resulted into stealing the books. She was expelled after she descovered the secret of dark exorcism. After she left the school, she arranged an heist to steal dark objects from the school. This action made her enemy number one to the council, demons aside.

After her gig with the exorcism school, she had wandered round the country learning every form of martial arts she could pick up while vanquishing any demon she found on her way, making her enemy number one to the demons also.

Toni quickly pulled herself out of memory lane as she heard a noise at her gate. She knew it wouldn't be long before her many enemies caught up with her but she never anticipated this soon.

She drained the tub and turned on the shower, rinsing her body. The entrance was booby trapped and it would take ten minutes for enemy to manuovre. Five if they were demons.

***

The darkness in the room subsided and Ridwan sat on the chair, his face downcast.

The door rattled. Someone was trying to open it from outside but the good cop/demon had apparently locked it.

The demon cop uncuffed Ridwan's hands and asked him a question, demanding answer.

'Who are you?.'

Ridwan's head suddenly jerked up. He had a smug grin on his face as he replied.

'Who do you think?'

The demon cop didn't have any time to respond as Ridwan struck his hand into his chest, fast like a serpent.

'You can't do this. I'm Abbadon. Your faithful servant.' The cop cried out.

'Oh. I've been out for too long,I guess I've forgotten who you are.'
Ridwan teased as blood dripped down his outstretched hand.

Ridwan stood from where he sat, raising his hand so that he carried the impaled Abbadon overhead.

'You need me.' Abbadon cried. 'I'm the only one who can tell you the king's plans.'

'I know, right.' Ridwan said staring into Abbadon's eyes, eliciting a frightening look and loud groans from the latter.

Abbbadon's eyes widened and his mouth opened wide. Black smoke came out of his opened organs and flew in the air momentarily before enshrouding Ridwan and becoming assimilated into him.

'You were saying?' Ridwan asked the lifeless cop. He dropped the body with a thud.

The door burst open and a dozen officers wielding guns poured into the room.

'Officer down.' One of the cops called out.

'Who the hell are you. You monster.' A lady cop said, disgusted by the heart of the officer which Ridwan held in his hand.

'That's funny.' Ridwan started. 'You asked who I am and didn't allow me to introduce myself and you call me monster. That's rude.'

'He killed a cop.' A terrified officer said.

'Open fire.' The police captain said angrily.

The first three bullets made Ridwan drop the human heart he had in his hand. A hail of bullets followed, shattering gass windows and splintering wood.

At last the shooting stopped and Ridwan's form was expected to fall.

Ridwan only staggered and gave a low chuckle.

'If that's all the fire power this world has to offer, then you already lost the war.'

'What the Bleep!' The police captain said.

'Yes.' Ridwan said. 'Time to Bleep things up.'

Charlie's face caught a right hook from his opponent making him fall off. The other guy suddenly rolled Charlie on his back, mounting him like a horse.

The next moment was reminiscent of two years ago whe Charlie and Castiel first struggled against each other in Toni's closet. Only this time, nobody was being knocked out.

The bigger man sent hefty blows at Charlie's face, his mind only thinking of the price to be collected when Charlie was delivered to the people that put a bounty on him.

Charlie raised both his fore arms to take the blows from the man who was ontop of him. He felt his arms weaken and he could see Castiel mercilessly slaughtering the other bounty hunters, spewing gore all over.

'Bleep this.' Charlie thought as he raised his upper body by contracting his abs like he was doing a sit up while still having his arms thrown up defensively like a boxer.

He dropped one arm, intentionally letting his opponent hit him in the face. The pain was worth it as he managed to put in a right hook, knoocking the man off of him.

Charlie hurriedly stood up. Better to fight on your feet so you can run,he thought.

'You're about to get slammed.' Charlie taunted. 'Come at me.'

The bounty hunter looked at Charlie strangely. Was thus guy possessed or why was he saying such unholy things. Either way,he was going to capture the loser.

He took a step toward Charlie then stopped midway. He felt a sharp pain in his chest. He looked down at his chest and saw what looked like a pitch fork projecting from it. Gore dripped from his chest as he fell, revealing Castiel standing behind him.

'Come on. I already had that handled.' Charlie said.

'Of course, you did.' Castiel said. 'Now,how do we get to your mentor.'

'Zaq's place is close.' Charlie said. 'Follow me.'

Castiel followed after Charlie. They had to watch out for the corpse of the dozen people Castiel had killed while Charlie struggled with one man.

Horlah grabbed Sia's left breast in one hand while mouthing the other gently.

He fondled with her breasts, caressing her ever so lightly making her give off pleasure laden moans.

Sia laid back on the table as Horlah traced a line of kisses from the shallow groove in between her twins down south.

Using Sia's tighs as ear muffins,Horlah placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

Sia let out a pleasured moan, encouraging him further.

He pressed his tongue flat on the glans of her cittoris and began rocking his head to and fro, slow at first,as he made a continuous up to down pattern against her pleasure organ.

Sia felt the pressure build up within her as Horlah paced up. She enjoyed the feeling and she grabbed Horlah by the back of the head, pulling him closer for the velvet buzzsaw he had going.

Horlah felt Sia get wet and refusing to over indulge her in cuninlingus,he pulled out. He stood onto his feet and leaned against her lying form.

She had her eyes closed and her mouth parted. An obvious sign of her readiness for what comes next.

Horlah placed his mouth at the region by her neck, nibbling slowly on the skin as he penetrated her.

Sia's fingernails dug deeper into Horlah's back at each successive thrust. She began rocking her hips in response to his thrust so that in time, they were both gyrating to the pleasurable tune of sex.

***

Toni pulled her hair backwards, tying it into a pony tail that reached behind her back. She put on a fresh, black leather body suit and begin strapping utilities like batman suiting up.

She placed her personal version of the utility belt around her waist. It had a few pouches on it and a plastic buckle. A knife strap went to her right calf and a small strap like gun holsters on each tight for her batons. Guns weren't allowed in this world. Dark objects came from a time when guns didn't exist.

Her heeled boots were black and her fingerless gloves the same. She opened a drawer and brought out a long box. Inside it was a katana in its scabbard. The scabbard had some weird markings that match the ones on the sword's hilt.

She unsheathed the katana and stared at the steel blade. She had always loved the samurai katana from feudal Japan. She even had one like this in her old house. She shrugged the thought and strapped the sword to her back.

She was still deciding about whether on not to put on her coat when she heard the rappings on the roof. Damn.

There was no denying it. Those were demons on the roof top, making the people at the door agents of the exorcism council.

'What could be as bad as having both demons and humans hunt you in one day.' She thought.

She answered the question herself.

'Having two people making love in the house at that same moment.'

She had barely start running towards the stairs when two demons fell in front of her from the broken roof.

They stood, facing her and their face burnt off revealing fangs for teeth and talons for fingernails.

'Parademons' She swore.

Toni side stepped a blow from one of the demon the tied a garotte wire she pulled from her utility belt around his neck then flipped him over. He burst into blue flames with no residue as the dark object vanquished both the demon and the vessel.

The second parademon was fazed by It's partner being destroyed and was more welcoming to the projectile that pierced his skull and transformed him to a spontenous azure.

Toni ran down the staircase. She was close to the room where Horlah and Sia were when she spotted the armed man.

She slid on her knees across the room as the man fired his gun above her. The man's knee got popped as Toni hit her baton against it.

The man was on one knee and Toni placed a leg around his neck, then the other. She squeezed his neck with her tights and did a backflip crashing his head into the floor. He laid flat on the floor unmoving.

She ran back to the entrance of the room where her friends were but couldn't enter as she saw a dozen Parademons coming from up the stairs. She shut the door and locked it so the demons wouldn't go in.

Toni ran towards the front door with the Parademons hot in her heel. Before she could open the door however,it camd open by itself and there stood the agents if the council, aiming assault rifles at her.

'Hi.' Toni said as she stood before them.

***

Ridwan's countenance twisted like he was in excruciating pain but it wasn't caused by the bullet. It was something else. Something from within.

'Guh!' He exclaimed, grabbing his head. There was a loud ringing noise in his ears and his head felt like it was on fire. The temperature in the room rose several degrees.

The officers in the room shifted backward due to his weird behaviour, reloading their clips before aiming at him again.

'Aaaaaaaaargh!' Ridwan screamed as portions of his face tore off, revealing an underlying skull that was on fire.

'Now,this is much better.' He said in an inhuman sounding voice.

'What the devil are you.' The police captain asked.

Ridwan closed the gap between he and the captain in mere seconds, grabbing the man by the soldiers as the other officers pointed their guns at him.

'I'm the harbinger of destruction. Destroyer of cities. I am carnage.' He said and roared in the captain's face, causing a large mass of flames to fall of his mouth, enahrouding the man.

Carnage held the captain's burnt skeleton and dropped it,causing it to crumble into a pile of ash that was blown off by the wind.

'Who's next?' He asked.

A female cop was next as the embodiment of carnaged stalked towards her, unfazed by the bullets embedding themselves in it vessel's skin and then falling off as the wounds healed in small burst of volcanic flames.

He grabbed the lady cop by the shoulders, ripped her arms off her torso then continued by beating her to death with her burning severed upper limbs.

The other cops kept on firing clips after clips at the unholy figure before them but it kept ignoring them like they didn't exist. They weren't allowed to get comfortable with being ignored as the said figure turned towards them and opened It's jaws wide.

Fiery flames burst out of the opened oral cavity like it would from a flame thrower. The flames engulfed everything in it's path, reducing all to cinder an ash.

The dozen cops that once stood up against him were now a hail of blowing ash, their weapons-molten pieces of metal scattered around the room.

The once air conditioned interrogation room was now ablaze, the one way mirror blacked by the flames had started crumbling due to the immense heat.

Carnage left the room, his feet burning holes in the ground with each step he took.

The cops in the long brought out shot guns and shot at him. He ignored them only to carry the huge reception desk and hurl the burning mass at the confused law enforcers.

'This city will burn!' The AKA carnage yelled, raised his face so he was facing the ceiling and thrust both palms sideways.

The flames that emanated from his mouth and palms were unprecedented and it was like the air within the police station spontenuously combusted, resulting in a roaring explosion of wild flames.

***

The agents aimed their guns at Toni who had both her hands raised. They had tried catching her one too many times but she always escaped. But now they just happened to catch her as she was about to leave the house such luck.

No. Nope. Their luck wasn't good. Twi of their men had been maimed by the booby traps set by Toni and they had come to capture Toni wielding guns with rubber bullets. The only problem was that Toni wasn't alone at home.

'Graaagh!' One of Toni's guests yelled as he ran out from where she had popped out from.

One of the agents fired his guns at the over enthusiastic guest who fell on the floor and was struggling to stand up the next moment.

'Is that?' The leader who was facing Toni asked.

'Demons!' One of his follows yelled as more parademons tripped in on their location making the armed men shift attention from Toni and opened fire in the unholy guests.

Toni did a backflip, kicking the gun off of the gunmen leader who had his gun aimed at her. She landed on one knee and got a kick in the face from said leader.

Toni fell backward but before the gunmen's leader could charge her,a few parademons had jumped over Toni and pounced on him. She thought she was lucky.

A rather muscular Parademons grabbed Toni by the arm,his claw digging into her skin as he dragged her away from the two groups in conflict.

He tossed her to one side of the room, her back hitting the wall.
The muscular Parademons gave a low howl and with what seemed like a CGI enhanced action, his clothes tore and his skin took on a furry appearance, his face narrowed into a maw and his hands and feet transformed, taking the appearance of paws with talon sized claws.

Toni sized up the werewolf parademon as she stood up. She stamped her right foot hard on the floor, causing a small blade to protract from the front of her boot.

She swung her foot into his crotch region as he pounced on her, pushing her against the wall. Moving her hands behind her back,Toni brought out two small knives and embedded them in either side of his skull.

Toni retrieved her knives, the parademon vapourizing into blue flames that persisted only momentarily before fading to nothingless as she returned her knives to their hideout at the back of her belt.

She watched the conflict between the exorcist agents and parademon horde in slow motion. The parademons kept on trooping in and the agents who only practiced classic exorcism could do nothing but fire their rubber bullets at the demons that would only stand and attack them again.

It was an unfair matchup. Both race had number and strength but they defer in that humans get weaker the more they fight while the tireless parademons could not be killed by human weapons.

Toni shook her head, returning herself to normal time. Dark items could vanquish demons but she wasn't so inclined to help because she had friends of her own. Friends trapped in a room whose door she locked.

Charlie lead Castiel into a small house where he said Zaq would be. They met the hefty man and he seemed excessively nervous as he spoke.

'Charlie, son. What a surprise to have you visit without informing me first.' Zaq said.

'Nice to see you too.' Charlie gave Zaq a slapping handshake. 'I had to come. It's urgent.'

'Who's your friend.' Zaq asked as he brought out beer from a worn out refrigerator and handing a bottle to each of them.

'I'm Dhayms' Castiel said, not waiting for Charlie to introduce him. If this man was truely a dark exorcist, chances were he might know about the demon king's grandson and the nervous vibe he was getting from the man.

'Well, what's it you want. So I can go to the cinema.'. Zaq asked.

'Well. We're looking for the pilgrim's contract.' Charlie said offhandedly.

'The pilgrim's contract.' Zaq said. 'So you actually believe all the bullshit I told you about a pilgrim's contract while you were stilll a student. I'll have you know that all my statements were false statements. The contract isn't real. If that's all you came for the I'm sorry to disappoint you.'

'Zaq.' Charlie called out with a serious tone. 'Cut the crap. The contract is real. I held it in my hands two years ago.'

Charlie glared at Zaq who had the looks of someone who was hiding something. He just hoped it wasn't dangerous. Something unforgivable.

'Two years ago..' Zaq said alarmed. 'The night of the earthquake. That was you?'

Charlie nodded and was about to say something when a feminine voice spoke.

'Things sure have gotten interesting.'

'And... Who is the hot chick supposed to be.' Charlie asked in a midly awkward manner.

'Cassandra?' Casriel asked, suddenly recognizing his sister from the way she carried herself and her slight drawl on consonants.

'Do I know you?' She asked.

'You never did have good bedside manners.'Castiel sneered.

'Castiel. Good to see you're hale and hearty.' She smirked. 'So I can kill you myself, you traitorous schmuck'

'Don't get all schmoopy on me,little sis..' Castiel teased.

'Wait. If she's your sister then she's a demon.' Charlie said deductively. 'What are you doing with a demon. Zaq?'

'I'm trying to help her locate the contract.' Zaq said like someone who was being held against his will.

'Because you don't have anything better to do?' Charlie raised his eyebrows. 'I thought you had a crazy vendetta against demons 'cause they murdered your wife. Now you're working with one.'

'I don't have a choice.' Zaq raised his voice.

'You always have a choice..' Charlie said disappointed in his mentor who was siding with the demons. 'The demon king wants to destroy our world yet you side with him..?'

'I've been branded, see.' He opened his shirt revealing a circle with two smaller circles in it carved into his chest. 'Mark of the messenger. I'm loyal to the king and his family.'

'That's a tough spot.' Charlie admitted.
He couldn't imagine hating someone so much and being forced to work for them. His case was different. He didn't have anything personal against Castiel,he didn't dislike him either and their acquiantance was on a mutual benefit basis.

'Here's what you have to know. We know where the contract is. All we need do now is return home and prepare for what's coming. War is on its way to this world. It starts once destruction incarnate is freed. Once carnage is let lose.' Cass Said malevolently.

'You mean winter is coming.' Charlie suggested.

'There will be no more winter in this world when the holocaust begins.' Cass snared.

'My stupid little sister. You just told us you found the contract. Do you think we're just going to let you go with it?' Castiel face palmed.

'I have a little surprise for think. I think they miss you.' Cass said then whistled. 'Boys!'

Three men came from the inner room. They had black clothes on and they looked like they just took a full clothed swim.

'Shut the front door!' Castiel exclaimed. 'Charlie run.'

'Why should i run. They're just three guys. I'll take one and you'll fight the other two.' Charie reasoned.

'I trained these parademons. They'll kill me if given the chance.' Castiel remarked.

'What do we do now?' Charlie asked.

Castiel didn't respond. He had jumped out the nearest window.

'Aww man! Come on. I can't jump that far down' Charlie complained.

'Your knee or your life.' Castiel yelled from down below.

'See you later chica.' Charlie said to Cass before hurriedly jumping down the window as the three Parademons closed in on him.

Horlah and Sia lay on the floor. They had just finished yet another bout of passionate sex. They heard the noise from outside but didn't know what the cause was or they didn't give a damn. But they did jerk up when the door sprung open.

Toni stumped in,staggering a little.

'Get dressed. We're under attack.'

'Yes,ma'am.' Horlah replied and he and Sia started getting dressed albeit being embarrassed that Toni had walked in on them naked.

'You don't look too well.' Sia said referring to Toni.

'It's just a scratch.' Toni wanted to say but decided against it. 'I've been poisoned. It's demon venom. Sips out of the bodily fluid of a possessed person or vessel. Once it gets into the body of a regular person,it kills their mind and weakens them till they are empty in the inside. In essence, they become a parademon. Most people do not make the transition and die, that's why the demons didn't rely on this method. Instead they use the pilgrim's contract'

Toni grabbed her arm. Black gore was beginning to drip from her wounds.

'That seems bad.' Horlah said.

'It's bad' Sia corrected. She's going to die.

Just then a few Parademons tripped into the room, inching further towards the three if them.

Ridwan entered the auto shop garage. It was as if the incidents of earlier didn't happen. He looked every bit human and he had an happy expression as he looked for something.

He soon found the piece of junk covered at the back of the shop. He unveiled it and was disgusted by its ugliness.

Shaking his head comically,he stretched both his hands and placed them on the car trunk. In a mixture of flames and black smoke, the car suddenly straightened. All its broken and detached parts realigned and the volks wagen golf GTI morphed back into its original state.

The black beast roared to life like it could feel the presence of its master in it. The auto shop was set ablaze as the beast drove out of it,sending all the other cars to the automobile 'Davy Jones' locker.

Horlah picked up a vase and went in between Toni and the incoming Parademons. He was going to fight them with a flower vase.

However, the Parademons stopped once they were a yard away from Horlah. They looked at him for a while, bowed and then left.

'What was that about.' Toni asked.

'No idea' Horlah said.

'Ahh!' Sia yelled, interrupting the conversation that was about to start.

'What now.' Toni asked looking at Sia.

Her eyes transitioned from full black to her normal eye color and she seemed to be convulsing as black gore spew from her mouth.

'What's happening.' Horlah asked as he grabbed Sia who wasn't talking.

'I dont understand.' Toni said confused.

'Don't understand what.' Horlah said furiously.

'She has demon venom in her body.' Toni said as she examined Sia's popping veins and the black gore from her mouth.

'No demons came in here.' Horlah

'Unless.' Toni said and moved back from Horlah. 'You are possessed.'

'I'm not possessed. I wouldn't be able to feel this pain if I was. I would probably be laughing at it.' Horlah cried out.

'Then explain to me how she got the venom in her body. There's no entry wound and judging by the sudden reaction,it was no ordinary demon. I'm guessing an higher demon.' Toni deduced.

'You don't understand. I'm not possessed. I only made a deal with the demon king to bring Sia back. She was dead. She died after the plane crash. I would have too if I didn't make the deal.' Horlah opened his chest to show Toni the symbol engraved in it. It was glowing a crimson red colour.

'The king's mark.' Toni exclaimed. 'You're the demon king's Avatar.'

'I'm sorry.' Horlah said. 'Just save Sia.'

Toni unhooked a pouch out of her belt and opened it. There was an injection with blue fluid in it.

'Demon's bane.' She Said. ' and only one shot.'

She looked at her arm and saw the degenerating condition which it was in. She wouldn't last more than three days.

Then there was Sia convuulsing on the floor, going through a transition from human to parademon. Only luck could make Sia survive the night.

Horlah looked at Toni. He saw her gory hand. He knew she was in pain. Knew she was also dying but he just had the selfish wish that she would save Sia. He begged like he had begged before for Sia's life. But this time,he had nothing to trade.

Toni closed her eyes and stabbed the syringe into skin.

Sia gave a resonating scream and Horlah's eyes went wide open.
