chukel: you don't Know me really so let me just keep it calm probably I was sent to expose some low tech guys that claim what there are not. did I learn about compression from the net hell nooooo , I spent a whole year studying mechanical courses in the four walls of distinguished environment. I also furthered my knowledge practically with top engineering companies. so have seen the true definition of compression not just theoretically but also in practice. not just in cars also. but big and expensive equipment. so what's that thing u said about the internet again if I need to sort for information I know where to look , I know where to go. don't get me wrong, am not undermining the capabilities of the internet. but if u have ever being into complex engineering problems , u would know the internet isn't the best place to look. case 1 my former boss and I were once faced with a problem of a factory compressor. very expensive equipment to maintain plus it comes with a whole load of sensors and actuators plus wiring diagram that day I actually learnt how terrible the internet could be. case 2 few months ago I worked at someone's company. and he kept on preaching to me on how to lookup the internet for solutions, like I don't know how to press my phone. well that guy has the record of the most unfinished jobs have ever seen. well since the internet is his bedrock. I can't be any less surprised case 3 when building my robot.... how did the internet help me and my team lol I don't even wanna narrate that. my point is this ; the internet is only good for diy. when it comes to real troubleshooting, u need not practical experience alone. but the theory and principle of operation of the system or unit. how do u fix a cylinder that is worn out and what makes u think one cylinder can't cause a serious misfire. that can make the car go into limp mode have u designed an engine before or do u know the calculations involved in engine design the white man created that thing with a lot of calculations, and u just despise his work like u are the next Albert Einstein instead of u to judge based on fact u are drawing conclusion based on ,what we know could be an error code. am always a learner , i like to learn and see things in a practical and logical manner. so until u bring me a solid prove, that won't violate any logical and engineering principle, Oga u have said nothing and as for calling my Oga honmusa well am deeply honoured without prejudice... peace. |

torres89:you sound well versed but all I can deduce from your whole write up is that you have very poor research capabilities. I may be wrong. Bottom line of what op said is that cylinder 4 misfire made that ride go into limp mode. Simulate cylinder 4 misfire on same vehicle and see if it will go into limp mode. That's practical enough. 4 Likes |

chukel: ok have you written a program before so let's simulate your senerio : i take out the spark plug from cylinder four , drive it around the block for 20 mins , no limp mode u are happy. your test was right. but !!! let's consider time time is an essential factor when it comes to maintenance of equipment. what will happen if I drive that car round Lagos without a spark plug in cylinder 4 , for a whole day or more will it go into limp mode now let's program our ECU x= engine power which is = torque torque must not be less than or equal to let's say 200watts at a certain rpm or load condition if torque falls below specified value for 20 mins or 1 hour do nothing. if x is still below specified for more than an 1 hour. turn on MIL if x is still below specified for more than whatever. fix gear permanently on 2 ( the essence of doing this is to prevent the engine from knocking) I hope u can understand this simple algorithm. now I even understand the main problem of mechanics here they don't understand programming and how codes work simply put , they can't program. but no one is an island of knowledge. thanks for teaching me this. 1 Like |

torres89:I understand programing algorithm very well. But u and I still don't know if what you have written is the sequence. It may, it may not. Since we are not the programmers, the factory service manual is there to guide. Thanks too. We all are learning. |

chukel:okay I think gazzuzz and nurey started this experiment so let's ask them what might happen to the car , if it's driven round Lagos, without a spark plug in cylinder 4. will it go into limp mode or just intermittent misfire will the will the rings on cylinder 4 still be okay |

Thanks all for your concern about the issue of pathfinder ,the engine has already been changed and the car is reving well now ,despite the fact the the solenoid error code still persist which still prove the issue is from engine . Later when the customer agree to go ahead with the subsequent fixing of other minor issue ,we make a full study of the car . |

This is cartalk, and we are talking. One of the most sensitive engine systems I know of is the peugeout 607. Its very quick to enter limp mode at any slight deviation from its factory settings. The 607 will still rev far above 2000rpm if stuck in limp mode. Now we are talking NISSAN, and a specific model, the 2003 pathfinder. I will continue when I leave ladipo.... |
Re: Autologic workshop compilation of daunting car issues :Diagnosis and fix by honmusa(m): 3:43pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
I have gotten a similar case of jeep commander 2008 that belong to ivoryhouse that refuse to rev past 2000 due to a single cylinder misfire .And is when the issue was finally fixed that the rev become normal . I have work on several Nissan due to similar case ,especially cases of timing and compression ,just expect the rev to go berserk. like I stated earlier engine has been changed and the rev is now OK . |

I will be damned if its not a Nissan that I av owned for four years now see as grammar wan wound me wen I was mentioned on this thread I was asked to remove cylinder4 plug wire and drive round the block to see if there's a misfire I replied that iv had a misfire for months and iv been driving the car that way weeks later I was at gazzuzz's and we played around with a scanner scan revealed misfire on cylinder 4....coincidentally is the car in limp mode yet? maybe tmr....and iv not fixed d misfire yet where is the time? maybe I will wen it goes into "limb" mode then again,iv had cam issues...where the cam was starved of oil for almost a year iv not changed cam and dat happened like 3years ago one size doesn't fit all....sooner we realise the better by the time this thread hits 1000 pages I might av angrily changed my engine cos its hard starting in the morning |

Case 3 Car model :Honda accord 2009 Customer complaint: Exhaust is emitting black smoke with confirmed high fuel consumption Scope of Job Resolution :Fix for the black smoke and resolution of high fuel consumption N.B:what makes this case a peculiar one is that there is no DTC code registered on the PCM management system ! |
Re: Autologic workshop compilation of daunting car issues :Diagnosis and fix by autologic: 9:42pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
We follow this logical sequence called the "golden sequence of diagnoses" to achieve a accurate diagnoses and successful fix 1.Verify :Confirm the incident/problem as described by customer 2.Collect :Get further info about the problem 3.Evaluate :Stop and think about the evidence 4.Test :carry out further test in a logical sequence 5.Rectify:Fix the problem 6.Check:Make sure all systems work correctly

Re: Autologic workshop compilation of daunting car issues :Diagnosis and fix by autologic: 10:13pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
Applying this approach to our case study Verification stage Physical inspection actually shows that the exhaust is confirmed to be emitting black smoke and from known fact, symptom of black smoke is an indication of high fuel consumption that also confirm the issue of poor fuel mileage as reported by the customer |
