No. Because we dont have records in Nigeria. I can easily change my identity in Nigeria

In Yankee every child born is registered and given a Social security number which is unique to you for life. So if you change your name, relocate, bleach your face or change gender your SSN is still the same and that number is required for all financial transaction which involves credit

In Nigeria if I scam people in Enugu while bearing Emeka Okonkwo, I can relocate to Ibadan and start answering Tunde Ajayi and start my scam all over again

That's the main problem. That lack of identity control.

I've heard that car loans and mortgages are available in Nigeria though, where at least car and house stand as collateral and offer some protection to the lender.

But there's simply no way of implementing the penalty associated with Bad credit because as you said, anybody can be anybody in Naija.

Yes there are car loans and mortgages but most are tied to your job, the control they have is that at least you are working and they can track you from your job. If you quit or get fired and relocate to Kaduna to start another business How dem wan find you. You fit carry the car waka

In Yankee or UK if you run with your car before paying the notes you sure they will find you and repo it, Naija you can just drive the car to Cotonou sef and sell

Car notes and re possession abi? You never sabi nigerians! When I bought 2 cars from el rufai to begin my uber/ embassy charter scheme out of some of the other 48 chaps who also bought them....one Malo guy just took a trip to enugu one weekend and spread a rumor that claimed that he was kidnapped and killed by robbers....that nigga just paid one of the original agents who installed the rides gps and the guy disabled his own cars security....the nigga just sold the car in lagos and headed to Ghana, kano or wherever!

Free N3.8m gone down the drain but na govt cheese so who wan find am? So if you ever see one Abubakar something with a bushy beard popping off in VI or Lekki ask him if he knows funlord and if he answers in the affirmative tell him to pay for your bottles and _bitches or you will call state house... grin....in naija I can be igbo in one state, yoruba in the next and tiv in abuja! This country is a joke...

We actually have BVN which the banks uses as a form of identifying individuals. As far as i know, everyone who runs an account in Nigeria is entitled to a single BvN number which can be used to identify one across all Banks. It is actually compulsory to have a bvn before you can do any business with a bank. Though the bvn is not used to track down defaulters it can be used by any bank to trace your credit history and all...... Even if you change your identity from A to B, you still won't be able to open or run any account with your new name in any bank in naija bcuz you already have a bvn number that is attached to name A. In essence you will automatically become unbankable......

I am new to the BVN scheme but is it tied to your finger prints?

To open a bank account shebi na Passport and utility bill dem need. Check this, I am Uche Obi I had many bank accounts and defrauded people in Onitsha,

I moved to Ibadan changed name to Tunde Ojo, Went to passport office made another passport in that name and got utility bills also in that name. Dey will give me another BVN right to match my "new name"

Move to Kano do the same get a new passport and repeat.

Getting a passport in Naija is easy there are guys who have original passports in like 10 names shey you know?

Correct me if I am wrong in any of my assumptions

It is attached to your finger prints bro and there is no way you can have two bvn numbers.

Bvn is actually called biometric verification number bros..

Modified: I know boys use to have loads of pp wayback but I sincerely dunno if it is still happening till now.

Nah!

You are 100% wrong. You can only register for BVN once, then attach it to all your Bank Accounts.

Your Fingers Print would be taken, same as your Face and your full Details. If the Names you used to open your Account(s) don't tally (even by a Letter) with the Names you filled for BVN Registration, your Account(s) would be blocked until you correct it.

Mind you..... you can't open or operate an Account in Nigeria without BVN.

If I tell the bank I have never opened a bank account before in Nigeria and this is a totally new application my name is James Brown

E.g Personally I had accounts in Nigeria before leaving which I haven't operated for years and all probably closed. WHen I am in Nigeria I just put money in a friends account and use his ATM. I currently don't have a BVN. if I go to Nigeria tomorrow, I can go get a passport in another name(People still do this), organize Birth cert and claim a different name from the name I bore 14yrs ago make a Passport and open a new account with details different from the one I had 15yrs back

Right or wrong?

You must enroll for BVN before you can open or operate an Account(s) in Nigeria. Also you must tender either your National ID Card, International Passport, Driver Licence or INEC ID Card at the Point of Registration before they can proceed with the Processing. Some Banks ask for Birth Certificate too, simply to confirm your real Age.

The Names you fill for the BVN Registration must tally with the Names on your Passport or any Form of ID Cards you tendered. Your Fingers Print will be taken, your Face will be captured.

Hence, as a new Applicant, you can enroll for a BVN with your New Identity since you have no existing Data on their System, but it might bounce back on you in the Future except you ain't willing to get a National ID Card, coz FG is working on linking the BVN with National ID.

And starting from 2018, no National ID, no International Passport whether fresh or renewal.

"There is a practical commitment to this, we have agreed that from 2018 1st January, anybody who is going to apply for Nigerian Passport, whether renewal or fresh must first have a NIMC number, national identity number. Why we are doing this is we want to ease business for Nigeria. There is no need for you to go and have your bio metric captured by NIMC and then you come and capture again with the Nigeria Immigrations.

“Once you give us your NIMC number we will collect the bio metric from NIMC and produce your passport. That is the intention to do in all other agencies. I have also given directive that any foreigner, non Nigerian resident in Nigeria will not get his permit renewed.

“He or she will not get his renewed until he has a NIMC number. To achieve this, NIMC and passport numbers will be harmonized and we are committed to allow NIMC in Immigration."

With all these checks and balances how come the guy using "meetagape" that is involved in a case of the theft of over N100m Is currently hiding out in new york? And moved out of nigeria with a business class ticket while leaving behind 40 petitions from sars and the efcc...frozen bank accounts and assassins sent by his victims still hunting for him? How come his dad is still operating a big church freely in umuahia/ph and his older bros is running a clinic in abuja with no stress? Why has the govt. And all those agencies not petitioned the united states govt to help deport his ass, seize all his assets send him back here to face the final uhuru?

Make I no too spit...but guy leave all this yarns you read on govt. Websites....nigeria loves giving through passes to crooks! The people running the system are the ones killing it....the strength of foreign institutions is their saving grace!

I no wan too talk make he no be like say person dey give scammers liver, but a lot of these so called checks are just hayaj. Dem no dey catch anyone with it. With the BVN if you know how many people still get scammed daily and walk away free. They have been doing finger print for passports for years yet that hasn't stopped boys from getting multiple pp without getting detected

If a guy scams you and you know his name and the account number you paid to, even BVN, They will tell you to go get a court order before you can put a lien on his account. To get court order you have to go multiple times or pay money to get the order. Or go to EFCC or Special Frauds Unit to report. Just give you a lot of run around that you will then begin to wonder, All the so called checks and balance you claimed are there. What is the use

The banks that failed, Do you know how many loans were unpaid, even with guarantor or even collateral. All those rich men go just collect loan and refuse to pay back and the best thing the bank can do is to send bank managers to beg them

Do your personal due diligence not to get scammed, If you are scammed just enter babalawo house and go swear for the guy and hope the Babalawo sef no scam you with fake jazz.

But if are depending on Nigerian institution to help you retrieve your money. You are OYO. Police go just open office for your head begin use you chop

Mourinho suppose rest most of our starting 11 today ahead of Sunday's game.

A win tonight should secure qualification and we can flex the last 2 games. 2nd team should be more than capable of beating Benfica.

Bros...Naija is fvcked up.....given!! burr BvN done help the system greatly since CBN introduce am. Truth is,scam go always happen burr the kind scams wey dey happen now no dey as porous and common as before for the system again .e.g the case of someone walking freely into the banking hall to impersonate you, and withdraw cash directly from your account is wiped out with BvN. The case of owing bank A without paying and trying to get loan from Bank B is gone, except na Ur papa be director or MD for the bank ,you can't get penny etc.

The issue of you getting scammed by your client or staff or business partner or family is a different ball game entirely. It is not the responsibility of the bank to take action or place lien on an any account without the court giving such instructions. It will simply not happen. Same way you won't fault or hold the banks in jand responsible for being careless with Ur credit card and credit card details when your friend decides to ball hard with it.

I do agree with you as regards naija institution's like police, effc, judiciary etc bcuz of the way they handle fraud cases. I actually think they can do better.
