Kog45: Awaziem, Ogu, Agbo & Nwakaeme are good players. In competitive games, you go with your first choice so they are likely to get their chance in the upcoming games. Awaziem is top quality and i believe he will prove that soon enough. Nwakali invitation was a surprise to everyone but the coach might not be totally satisfied with what is available. Nwakali also scores a few goals from long distance which could be an asset to the team. Ekong was playing in Norway and was a regular part of our first 11. 2 Likes |

Joebie: I have had some suggest that quality is Quality irrespective of the league. Top league and top teams have top players. A good example is to see how many players in a league are in the top 10 rated national teams. That will separate the boys from the men. No team is going to go beyond the group stage if at all with players mainly from low level backwater leagues. No matter the training and or team strategy. |

isan:and what is Super Eagles quality? The way wey una dey talk like say na Buffon and De Gea don dey keep for us since....the Super Eagles quality goalies, were they having constant clean sheets? In fact, it was a TRADITION that we MUST collect at least one each game. Ezenwa was probably the first goalie that kept a clean sheet for us in a competitive game in years. Enyeama was collecting from the likes of Ethiopia and Lesotho sef. You guys should stop insulting the players who have stepped up to the plate when we most needed them. Most of them never envisioned playing for the duration of the qualifiers, we have used three different goalies and have only conceded 3 goals so far. That is something 7 Likes |

komekn:oga, you keep saying this, but you are yet to explain how Iceland's players from 'low level backwater' leagues kicked out an English team filled with highly rated players from the model EPL. Secondly, please, can you explain how the 2014 Nigerian team filled with a bunch of nobodies from unlisted and unrecognised leagues made it out of group stage? This is another statement that should end with 'In My Humble Opinion' 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Joebie: That's if they are good enough. Many far better players have stepped up to the EPL and flopped. Remember Memphis Depay big money transfer then voted best young player in the world. Scoring for fun in the Eredivisie infact was top goal scorer. Comes to the EPL with Man.U and after two seasons and 53 games only 7 goals. A guy who at 21 was scoring 30 plus in a season in the Eredivisie. Meanwhile he is still only 23 ( real age) so he has time on his side. 1 Like |

komekn: IMO it has zero to do with being good enough but a lot to do with the mentality. There are too many things that don't have anything to do with football that the players have to cope with number one being their media. It is easier to go 1 in 10 as a striker in Barca than it is at QPR. |

komekn:Sir, this is my first time of saying this. Others have said it several times and today I join my voice with theirs because I have read you for a good time to know your drift. You judge all things football against the benchmark of English football as in both EPL and championship. You talk alot about objectivity but to continuously screen everything football through the filter of English football is to my mind not objective. If we go by your estimation we will not have a team. 1 Like |

wow he's really good comfortable with both feet. long i've seen a nigerian footballer effective with both legs. will definitely play in the epl next season whether for chelsea or not. only little criticism i have of him is that his physique looks like someone who would put on too many pounds if he doesn't stay disciplined with his weight. other than that boy has natural talent tbaba1234: 1 Like |

Mickael2: I checked the list before making that statement. The vast majority were playing in lower leagues. In the Americas, in denmark, in Norway. Only Navas was playing in a top league. 1 out of 23. Joel Campbell had not played one game for Arsenal. Was on loan at Olympiakos. 5 Likes 1 Share |

tbaba1234: they had players from Club Brugge(top club), Copenhagen(top club), Mainz 05(top club), Olympiakos(top club, Greek champions too), PSV Eidhoven(top club), Rosenborg(champions of their league, Austria I think), add Keylor Navas and you factually have a starting eleven of players from quality leagues. |

it's not unheard of for people to recommend players to the national team coach. sunday oliseh was recommended to westerhof in 1993 before our AFCON qualifier against ethiopia and as they say the rest is history but you are right that unfortunately in this part of the world people usually abuse the process to foist mediocre on the super eagles. with coach rohr i have not seen such shenanigans (even though i know you will not agree ) forgiveness: |

Dedebanky85: Firstly, I talk about what I know abou and incidentally I am very heavily involved in and have indepth experiential knowledge of. The EPL is the most physically demanding fastest and intensely competitive league in the World. IT IS NOT THE BEST TECHNICALLY. I have never ever said that. However, it is largely regarded as the best league in the World by many internationally recognised authoritative and indepenfent bodies. Are the very worst it's rated no. 2 or 3. That being the case and not in dispute what's wring with using it as a benchmark for quality. Our best ever players predominantly played or seeked to play in the EPL. For instance, Amokachi, JJay, Kanu, Kanu, Yakubu, and more recently Mikel, V.Moses, Iwobi, Ighalo and KC. The SE would essentially flop to complete obscurity without its EPL players. Tell me a top 5 FIFA ranked national team in the world today that doesn't have at least 3 players out of the EPL in most cases it's about 5. Standards will not change because of Nigeria. If our players are not stopping off in La Liga, Bundesliga, French League 1, Seria A and other 10 leagues in Europe but choose to go the backwaterd of Europe in a league ranked near 30. It's not racism or restricted work permit rules. It's simply means they are not good enough. Mikel was in Lynn prior to making a decision which way to go. Meanwhile his agent J. Shittu was playing Maradona with all the premiership clubs who wanted to sign him. Do you know how many millions of £££ not naira that Shittu made out of that deal after Man U. was realed in deceptively and then reprimanded by FIFA Mikel was given World wide FIFA recognition work permit was never the issue he was exceptional talent at that time on the same level as Messi. So don't misrepresent the dynamics of the situation to present an argument that's not tenable. Dude wake up the smell the hot pepper soup. In this game the club you play for matters. It is your unique selling point and branding. With regards to City and other top EPL clubs buying 20 youth players for under £400k is just chicken change. They can buy you this year and drop you for nothing next season. Or they can hold on give you a couple of games in the youth team or pre-season tour. Now you have the club branding and sell you to some lower moogoi club for a few million. It's business they have made profit even when they had no intention whatsoever of ever playing you. This is the business of football. Consider the profit they made on KC and the peanuts they paid for him. All that rhetoric his agent is using to garnish the product he knows the people who will buy that fairy tale, those on the outside. Also that's where his limited network reach hence the need to go to Norway. If and If X If +IF Nwakali wad born in the UK, played local football if got scouted, if he passed a trial then if his performances warranted a youth scholarship, then if he wasn't dropped for a foreign player bought with big money or displaced by a better player in his club. And then if he wasn't injured and didn't face any racism or favouritism then he might just have made it IF he was born in England. So if you like go sign with am that's where you go remain or progress to Turkey at best. Best players play in the top teams and the top teams are in the best leagues. Finito 4 Likes |

Mickael2:By regular I mean that they footballer who are not in the top leagues. I no just talk am without a factual basis. The excerpt below is from an article which I read some weeks back and informed my earlier assertion. Now read this: Apart from their opening game against Australia, they stuck with their three-at-the-back roots that had served Bielsa so well, lining up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, that contained the dangerous front two of Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez, and Napoli’s Eduardo Vargas – with Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal playing behind them. Beyond this impressive front three, and left wing-back Mauricio Isla (who plays for Juventus), much of Chile’s team play their club football in quite moderate environments. Influential centre-back Gary Medel was relegated to the English Championship with Cardiff prior to the World Cup. His team-mate Gonzalo Jara played in the Championship before the tournament too. Deep-lying midfielder Marcelo Diaz plays in Switzerland with FC Basel Silva with Osasuna in Spain, and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo – at the age of 31 – was signed by Barcelona mid-tournament with question marks over whether he would play regular football at the Catalan giants. THE REST OF THE TEAM PLAY THEIR FOOTBALL IN SOUTH AMERICA Source:http://www.thefalse9.com/2014/11/football-tactics-national-identity.html 1 Like |

i'm satisfied with the squad chosen for the algeria and argentina games. only sticky point for me is ahmed musa's continued inclusion despite his inactivity. kayode should have been called up IMO. C.Nwakali's invitation? like komekn and forgiveness i find it somehow where i differ from them is that i don't think there is any conspiracy or egunje factor at work. i'm willing to give rohr the benefit of doubt that he has seen something in chidiebere that he feels could be an asset to the team |
