Who else notice that in Africa player of the year category -base in Africa, nobody from Nigeria is there and that really speak volume of the poor quality of the Nigeria premier league.

He didn't pass the two test namely to play in the top ten leagues in the world and top ten team in the best league or outside. Belgium is ranked number 12 by the bleacherreport.com (fails test one) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2691880-ranking-the-most-entertaining-leagues-in-world-football

Ajagun plays for KV Kortrijik ranked number 14 out of 16 teams in the Belgian Jupiler.(fails test two) See attached screenshot of teams in the Belgian top flight

So you see! Even by your own test, your own criteria, your own standard, Ajagun and I am sure so many other players you clamour for fail.

While I like your test I know it is not the ultimate criteria.

Of course, I meant Europe not world's.kpom. grin

Naby Keita or Mane will win it. The final 3 will be Keita, Mane and Aubamayeng.
Why not Victor Moses ?

. I don't tink so because neither of those names u mentioned won a single league trophy for their respective clubs and only Mane *Might* go to the world cup amongst the 3 u mentioned. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope caf is fair enough this time around. Bt wilfred ndidi is supposed to be in dat list. What has Atsu, Percy tau, etc played to merit dat list? The world is watching o Caf
Yeah I agree Ndidi should've made the list. I think Tau played well in CAF champions League plus WC and ANC qualifiers
Keita made Bundesliga team of the year and Salah has been hot for 18 months now. Vic Moses should come at least 5th place

Can any of Victor Moses or Trust Ekong win APOTY 2017? I knew it's gonna be tough the moment I saw Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah in the list. But I tink the 3 finalists will be Moses, Salah and Mane. Any of them can win it. BTW, why is Wilfred Ndidi not on the list? The guy has been consistent for club and country...

Modified: Aubameyang can win it as well. Its surely gonna be tough for our own VicMo
I think Victor Moses has a big chance to win it ..judging by his club and country performance in the year under review ..

So Happy for Ekong he has made tremendous progress ever since he joined.

Even if he doesn't win it the recognition is enough for now.
Abi oo. At least the recognition by CAF is a big feat for him.

and what is Super Eagles quality?

The way wey una dey talk like say na Buffon and De Gea don dey keep for us since....the Super Eagles quality goalies, were they having constant clean sheets? In fact, it was a TRADITION that we MUST collect at least one each game. Ezenwa was probably the first goalie that kept a clean sheet for us in a competitive game in years.

Enyeama was collecting from the likes of Ethiopia and Lesotho sef.

You guys should stop insulting the players who have stepped up to the plate when we most needed them. Most of them never envisioned playing for the duration of the qualifiers, we have used three different goalies and have only conceded 3 goals so far. That is something

Bravo was in Real Sociedad, top club in Spain. Cardif were a strong side too and just got demoted, I mean since you want to tackle Komekn I am pretty sure you know he has said that the Championship is on par with the belgian league which still is quality for me. So you factually have 6 quality guys from quality clubs in quality leagues, if I search I could find more

Just 6 out of 23 and you are okay abi? Go and search and come back.
I tackle him in that particular post. I said he should educate you on the top leagues. Even he knows that the championship is not among the top leagues as per bleacherreport.com rankings for 2017. So you are not saying anything different from the article I cited unless you can show that the remaining 18 play in top leagues or majority of them.

I believe you will be OK with our team when we have just 6 players playing in quality leagues abi. By this standard we are a top top quality national team. Victor Moses, Alex, Iheanacho, Musa, Aina, Etebo, Mikel, Ighalo, Balogun (that's more than six oo) I have not mentioned those playing in Belgium, Turkey and Holland.

But I think one of the major consideration for picking the African best player of the year is the player's performance for both country and club.
Agree that Keita was hot for Napoli last season but won nothing for both club and country.
Aubamayeng was very hot for his club last season evidenced by being top goal scorer in the Bundesliga but achieved little for his country.

Victor Moses was very consistent with Chelsea in the year under review, he won Premiership with Chelsea, he also helped his country, Nigeria to be first African nation to qualify for Russia 2018.

these clubs were all present in that year's champions league, Mainz was in the Europa league, top top clubs

Oga, these are not top clubs.. How many made it to the group stages? How many qualified from the group phase? Even Levante and Mainz are not big clubs, they are just average clubs in top leagues

Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas (Levante), Patrick Pemberton (Alajuelense) Daniel Cambronero (Herediano).

Defenders: Johnny Acosta (Alajuelense), Giancarlo Gonzalez (Columbus Crew), Michael Umana (Saprissa), Oscar Duarte (Bruges), Waylon Francis (Columbus Crew), Heiner Mora (Saprissa), Junior Diaz (Mainz 05), Christian Gamboa (Rosenborg), Roy Miller (New York Red Bulls).

Midfielders: Celso Borges (AIK), Christian Bolanos (Copenhagen), Esteban Granados (Herediano), Michael Barrantes (Aalesund), Yeltsin Tejeda (Saprissa), Diego Calvo (Valerenga), Jose Miguel Cubero (Herediano).

Forwards: Bryan Ruiz (PSV Eindhoven, on loan from Fulham), Joel Campbell (Olympiakos, on loan from Arsenal), Randall Brenes (Cartagines), Marco Urena (FC Kuban Krasnodar).

This is the team. Have you ever heard of Cartagines or Herediano? Imagine Nigeria inviting a player from Valarenga or AIK?

The above team is not one that should be in the quarter finals but they did it.

If Belgium is in the top ten best leagues in the world, don't you think he falls into the first category? grin

Two thinks are involved not one and there is no third option. grin
Belgium is not in the top ten and Ajagun's club KV Kortrijik is number 14 out of 16 teams in the Belgian Jupiler. Answer my question above. So why do you still clamour for him but you don't want Nwakali. Mind you I am not for or against Nwakali's invitation. I just want to understand why you advocate for one and not the other when by your own test they are in the same category.

forgiveness you said two things are involved you can't for the purposes of argument exclude one to the detriment of the other.

you typed these words using your own fingers not mine

1. playing in the top 10 best leagues in the world
[b]2. playing for the best clubs either in the top 10 or outside

so based on the bolded does ajagun play for the best club in belgium? simple yes or no

Chrisooblog,

The criteria is one or the other. If you don't meet the first criterion you must meet the other

I think Victor Moses stands a chance at Top 2....he was both instrumental to Chelsea's title winning run last season as well as Nigeria's World Cup qualification.

I personally don't see what Aubameyang and Keita have done to put them head and shoulders above Moses. Neither of them won a major trophy for club or country and neither of them wilk be at Russia, so how can they get more votes than Moses if we are talking of a merit-based award?

The only person that can win CAF APOTY aside Moses is Salah based on the Criteria.

That being said, it is a travesty that Ndidi is not on that 30-man list.

Navas- Levante
Luiz- PSV
Campbell-Olympiakos
Diaz- Mainz
Gamboa- Rosenborg
Bolanos- Copenhagen
Duarte-Brugge

I know Komekn has been saying repeatedly that even if you are in a lower league you should atleast be a regular in the best team from that league and these guys are among the best XI of their respective clubs
At the end this only goes to reinforce the argument that quality is quality irrespective of the league because playing regularly for top teams in a low league includes playing for the top team in India, New Zealand or Australia.

I am not the one discriminating as far as league and teams are concerned, you guys are. I want our players in the top leagues but performance in the national team matters more to me than a players league or team.

go and read his original post he said two things are involved meaning both points are interlocked if he had mentioned only point 1 then given a caveat for example if you don't meet the criteria for point number one then ppoint number 2 will come into play. Don't mind forgiveness he knows he can't answer the question because if he does he will be exposed are speaking from both sides of his mouth
