Just watched Nigeria Brazil Atlanta 96... We used to play with so much swagger.. We dominated Brazil in that second half... That standard has seriously dropped. 6 Likes |

If the news about. Ighalo is true, then we have no striker to replace him. I doubt Brian Idowu making his debut now but I think Alhassan will be a good replacement |

tbaba1234: With the right selection of players, we can play with more control and bravery. We should be patient with Rohr. I remember Mancini starting out at City and many criticise his negative methods to see out games. He was very defensive against top sides. With time, the team grew into an attacking force. Same can be said about Jardim of Monaco who was also negative and cautious in his earlier times at Monaco. With time, he groomed one of the best attacking sides in Europe. |

tbaba1234: The individual abilities of those players were top notch. That was even an Olympics team and not the main super eagles. I have always said it that I have seen better youth players than what we have today. We just hype most of our young players of today. most of them are not up to the marks. None of the current Nigerian players who are 23 or less would have made that team's starting line up. Now you'll understand why I am not much excited about all those names people are throwing in upandan here. 2 Likes |

Icon4s:Pls check Atlanta 96 players out. Super Eagles players in the team 1.Uche Okechuckwu. 2.Daniel Amokachie. 3.Emmanuel Amuneke. 4.Victor Ikpeba 5.Sunday Olishe, 6.Austin Okocha 7.Tijani Babangida. 8.Taribo West. 9.Kanu Nwankwo The fringe Super Eagles players in the team 10.Wilson Oruma 11.Celestine Babayaro 12.Mobi Oparaku 13.Garba Lawal 15.Karibe Ojigwe Well established local players in the team 16.Dosu Joseph 17.Abiodun Obafemi 18.Teslim Fatusi 19.Emmanuel Babayaro 20.Abiodun Baruwa 21.Kingsley Obiekwu So how do you expect present players who are 23 or less to make this team full of already established Super Eagles players, honestly if it's today a lot w called this team a cheat, surprisedly Uche Okechuckwu, Daniel Amokachie, Emmanuel Amuneke are the only over aged in the team. Honestly anytime i look at this team am always give respect to Siasia's feat at 2008 and 2016 Olympics, with bunch of average players compared to Atlanta 96 which was full of Super Eagles players. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 8:59am On Nov 02, 2017 |
Kog45: What we have above is close to what we have presently in terms of age. As over 70% of the current crop are 23 or less. And they are also established super Eagles players. Yet none would have made that 96 team starting line up. Maybe 1 or 2 would make the squad at most. Good you made reference to Siasia's 2008 Olympics team. Trace that team back to his 2005 U20 team which was the bedrock of the 2008 Olympics team. That 2005 U20 also had class and quality. I remember repeatedly mentioning that the Siasia's 2005 Flying Eagles were better than the Manu's 2015 Flying Eagles. I got attacked for it but I still maintain my view on that. We have to accept the fact. we hype our current team too much. This team has achieved a lot in this qualifiers no doubt but they still have a long way to go. 2 Likes |

Mickael2:Haba Micho u and Rohr on tactics, well apart from being sentimental sometimes on players selection,Siasia is good tactically(2005 semi final against Holland)tells me the guy is good, also 2008 Olympics. Truly Argentina match w be a true test for Rohr tactically even Algeria match but nevertheless is still getting it right but South Africa match still put a question match on his tactical prowess cos with the absence of few key players the team crumbled. |

aodis:15 goals in 31 matches for Roma 2017 afcon team of the tournament Has had a great world cup qualification Has been in greater form than Moses since the season started. Salah, Naby Keita and Aubamayeng or Mane will make the final 3. Vic MO at best might make the top 3 but he isn't winning it. Bookmark this post. |

Icon4s:I get your point but it w be unfair to compare the present players with Atlanta 96 team. In Atlanta 96 team we have Uche Okechuckwu, Daniel Amokachie, Emmanuel Amuneke, Austin Okocha,Sunday Olishe,Victor Ikpeba who are members of US 94 team with only Ikpeba not regular and Tijani Babangida was on standby. These are already established Super Eagles material playing in under aged tournament and too early to compare the team. On over hype,it depends on individual, have never for once hype this team but not yet time to compare, let's see what happens in the WC,with quarter final berth then w compared. 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:48am On Nov 02, 2017 |
Kog45: We are Nigeria. A great footballing nation. We know where we are coming from and we know where we hope to be. The equivalents of Okechukwu, Amokachi, Amuneke and co you mentioned are Mikel , Echiejile, Onazi, Omeruo who were in the 2014 WC So we have a basis for comparison. One major reason I can rate this team is the compactness and team spirit. I hope that helps them go far. |

Kog45: those are the keywords. Rohr is the type of manager that comes to training and the players will say 'we already know what we are doing today, we are here to train with a 4-2-3-1 formation, these are members of the first team and these are members of the second team', and he will just nod. That is bad because one injury or if a team manages to find the cure to that present formation we crumble. Siasia-2008 Olympics without Taiwo and Mikel=2nd place, 2016 Olympics without a host of players still=3rd place. Rohr is not tactically.... No make me start this argument sha. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 10:25am On Nov 02, 2017 |
Kog45:Exactly. It's like using some of the guys in this team after Russia 2018 for the next Olympics. They will shine na. What we took to the Olympics was our senior national team. Only Finidi George, Rashidi Yekini and Siasia were missing. 1 Like |
