15 goals in 31 matches for Roma
2017 afcon team of the tournament
Has had a great world cup qualification
Has been in greater form than Moses since the season started.
Salah, Naby Keita and Aubamayeng or Mane will make the final 3. Vic MO at best might make the top 3 but he isn't winning it. Bookmark this post.

Gotcha! Sorry, I haven't been following the full discussion. I thought you were trying to say that he was being blacklisted or anything .... because Rohr has had a free hand to select his team so far (but that situation might change now that we've qualified for the world cup). And in addition, Kayode has been invited and tried out by Rohr.

Anyway, I agree with you 100% that his non-invite doesn't have anything to do with tribalism. And I am going to fall on anybody like a tonne of bricks if I hear them bringing the tribalism crap to the current Super Eagles team. Gernot Rohr is neither a Yoruba man nor an Igbo man, so mek una keep that tribalism nonsense in check!

O pari

Kog45:
My man my point is cleared,I want to debunk an insinuations that non invitation of Kayode was based on tribalism, nobody is arguing may be he is better than Ighalo, Iheanacho, Vic Moses.

Nobody w force any player on Rohr when the coast is cleared the best w be selected and may be he is better than Simeon Moses or Oyekwuru is non of my business,it's left for Rohr to decide if he get another opportunity.

Uzoho had two matches in LA liga got a call up meaning Rohr is watching,,its left for Kayode to prove himself in LA liga to get another call.

It's just too glaring some need to work hard and some already have the pedigree,so Kayode belonged to set of players that need to work hard to be in the team.

If Nwakaeme can make it playing in Isreali league or sometimes Aaron Samuel who hasn't done much this season so why not him.

Mind you his exploit in Austria league was not a joke,it gave him a contract with man city before he got his loan to Girona.

I watched him against Deportivo and am highly impressed,he deserves a place in the squad with what i saw and Uzoho against Girona despite conceding two goals, the guy looked mature in the game and thank God he was rewarded with invitation.

TAMMY ABRAHAM, JOE GOMEZ AND RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK NAMED AS PART OF GARETH SOUTHGATE'S ENGLAND SQUAD TO FACE BRAZIL AND GERMANY AT WEMBLEY
By Matt Lawton For Mailonline
13:08 02 Nov 2017, updated 13:29 02 Nov 2017

Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all been named in Gareth Southgate's latest England squad for the upcoming double-header against Brazil and Germany at Wembley.
The full squad is set to be announced at 2pm, but the Football Association's Twitter account released a teaser an hour before congratulating the three youngsters on their promotion from the u21's
Tammy Abraham has impressed on loan at Swansea so far this season, with the Chelsea forward scoring four times in 10 Premier League appearances.
Congratulations to @J_Gomez97 ,
@rubey_lcheek and @tammyabraham on their first #ThreeLions call-ups! We’ll have the full squad soon... pic.twitter.com/E6tuJ1rSUz
— England (@England) November 2, 2017
Joe Gomez has enjoyed regular action for Liverpool in both the league and Champions League and has been rewarded for a string of solid performances with his first full international call-up.
Another Chelsea loanee, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, has been gaining valuable experience under former Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace, and he too is called up for the first time.
Abraham was part of Aidy Boothroyd's Under-21 side that reached the semi-finals of the European Championship in the summer, where they lost on penalties to Germany.
Twenty-year-old Gomez has been captaining the Under 21s in their current qualification campaign for Euro 2019 in Italy and San Marino.
Loftus-Cheek has amassed a total of 17 Under-21 caps in his youth career, but missed last summer's tournament through injury, as did Gomez.
England face Germany on Friday November 10 at the national stadium, before welcoming Brazil to the same venue four days later.

Don't we like living in denial in this country? For all the tea in China,Tammy was never going to play for us. After the English triumph at the WYC, Tammy was speaking talking up being part of the generation next for England.

Reaching out to him was the right thing to do but on the long run, investing in the talent at hope should be the priority of any FA. I have never heard about any homegrown talent who rejected Nigeria.

We are currently ranked just inside the FIFA top 40. The Nff should kick off a conciese programme which would see us crack the FIFA top 10 and remain there for a long time. If we can achieve this feat, the Super Eagles will be the beautiful bride and a very vaiable option for some food the best talents who weren't born in Nigeria.

We will continue to get the Tammy, Aogo, Owomeoyla, etc treatment till we get it right.

At the moment, Nigeria is like a man who walks into a Ferrari dealership, eyeing up a $200k FF. Only for the attendant to look up and see the man in question putting on sandwich paperbag instead of shoes .

Yes we did not go to Afcon 96 due political issue and ban by CAF for afcon 98 for not defending the cup in 1996.

Tijani Babangida was ahead of Kanu Nwankwo in eagles but came into the scene when we have better player in Finidi George.

It was a great debate Victor Ikpeba was nearly dropped for Tijani at the last minute prior to WC but Westerhoff still took him along.

Did you know Tijani Babangida was a professional player with Roda JC before Finidi and Kanu joined Ajax.

Pls try and ask any season sport personality,i still repeat it Tijani Babangida was at US 94 but not registered.

If i may ask you did you know Osaze was at 2002 WC but not registered
I did not dispute the fact that TJ was called up for camping prior to the 94 WC but the fact is he was dropped for the WC list. Does being not registered make him part of the team.

On Osaze I know that one. Amodu discovered Osaze.

Celestine, Taribo, Oruma, Lawal, Babangida, Oparaku, Ojigwe and Kanu only gained promotion to the super Eagles after the Olympics. Prio to Atlanta they were just U23 players that had no Senior team experience.
As I said before Kanu only trained with the 94 eagles in camp and was part of the squad that faced England in Wembley.
It still boils down to the fact that it was our main national team that won the Olympics. Perhaps the argument is that we had a team so young they could function as our main team and u23 team simultaneously. If not Sir, mention who and who were in the main Super Eagles team as at 96 if not these guys(apart from Siasia, Rashidi and Finidi) as Kog45 has shown .
In 2000, 2008, 2016 we had our standing senior team apart from the u23 but same was not the case in 1996.

At least we have more credibility now as regards the true ages of the players.

That's true but the reality is that quality and class are not defined by age.

Consider that the class of 96 were leading players for thier top level teams in top leagues. This is a standard just as has rightly been said not more than 2 in the current group would have made that team.

My conclusion give me group of old men that will win than a group of youngsters that will fail.

No icon4s,Kanu was a complete bench warmer at ajax in 94/95,pls go to archive and check it out.

Finidi George was a super regular at ajax and one of the strongest member not Kanu even at 95/96 Kanu could not tie a regular spot in the team coz Kluivert was ahead, though better than 94/95 season.

I followed Kanu career as an addicted fan right from 1991 when i watched him live playing for Iwanyanwu nationals,he was member of flying eagles to Mauritius 93 and later drafted to U 17 team going to Japan 93 with Emma Babayaro.

Did Kanu feature in that UEFA champions league final or not?

I also know all of those Kanu's U17-U20 history.

after filling the paper, it will still go through the FA and will still be made public by then

so the pressure would have still been as much as it is now only that it is delayed and might delay his call up to the Senior team of England.. before the switch would have been concluded they may still have capped him

BTW nobody from all the news i read around that period invited Aina to join the Eagles to train when they were in London so why should that of others be different.. when you need something badly why not go for it and not until they give you on a platter and even as it was given to Tammy on a platter, he still rubbed it on our faces

Who the phuck is Tammy anyway?
We just need to move on and concentrate on our squad, time to give full attention to Ighalo,Iheanacho, Nwakaeme, Onwuachi, Dressers, Kayode, Osimhen, Awoniyi.

I don't think Tammy w give us 4 goals at WC,so we should less worry.

He no dey even stand as it is

Another John Fashanu , Carlton cole, training material imagine louts cheek who dat one wan bench? Thats how in Germany they did sam sidney , patrick Owomoyela. Even Italy did Angelo Ogbonna. Msscheww

I said it already that they alongside Kanu were called to camp but were dropped from the WC squad. So as at 1996 when they played the Olympics they had no WC experience. That is my point.

As a coach you have to start from somewhere. Rohr is not going to event Nigerians in top clubs over night. You work with the situation on ground.
Bonfrere benefited from what we've been building for 5 years with continuity. You know the situation leading to now.
I've been talking bout Qatar for no reason. Let's not expect magic in Russia. But for the efforts of Amuneke and Manu Garba in the recent past, and now Rohr. we will have a very strong side leading to Qatar.

Big Joe, you gotta be smarter than that. You gotta take everything (and I mean everything) you read here with a big dose of salt.

From everything I know, Kayode isn't making the Super Eagles team purely for football reasons. Having watched him a couple of times, there's no doubt in my mind that Simon, Kelechi, Ighalo, Onyekuru, and VicMo are better. Forget what he did in Austria, let him replicate that form in La Liga. Like we say in football, the name of the game is, "What have you done for me lately".

O pari

Don't deceive yourself the Onyekuru I saw against PSG is very poor technically and if he doesn't improve can't stay long in limelights.

However, he is not in the same league with Kayode. Kayode is far better than Onyekuru.

The amount of pressure brought to bear on Tammy was unprecedented. It had become almost an issue of national politics. The pressure was coming from the highest quarters.

My optimistic mind says na only friendly maybe chance still deh.

It says the NFF needs to start recognising talent a lot earlier and not waiting for that talent to become front page news. Then making a public bid with all to see.

Just the ability to keep possession was top notch. So much technical ability. And the brazilian side was not average, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Bebeto, Juninho etc..

That side was world class.

The only area we might be better right now is defence organization but there were so good in controlling the ball that it did not matter. Babayaro, no Nigerian left back comes close, not Iroha Not Taiwo, none..

Yeah you are right.
But that Brazilian side was really world class o. They presented 70-80% of that team at France 98. Just almost like Nigeria. But while Brazil finished second Nigeria lost scandalously to Denmark in the second round.

That Nigeria's France 98 team IMO was the most gifted we have ever presented at any WC. That was Nigeria's biggest chance to have at least reached the Q/finals or semis.

What does it take to sustain it? What we have is a national problem, and we can see it in all other sectors..
