ChrisKels:your question is hypothetical. You are not basing it on current events If it were on current events, I doubt we would still need Alampasu to play for us even if he becomes the first choice goalie of a third division Portuguese team. W have an 18-year old who plays for a Spanish first division team, so why will we drag Alampasu with Togo who obviously need him more? I repeat, we no dey find goalie and even if we are, no be Alampasu. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Was Oboabana not home based? It has nothing to do with location The confederation cup exposed some of the weaknesses in his game. He is very reluctant to slide and make clearances. Positioning for a slow guy was not always the best. See Italy's goal in the friendly. Now, that is not saying he is a bad player .. Just not good enough at international level |

I said it yesterday, that by default we are secondary to the choices these guys make in anything. Yeah Aina eats eba, rice, listens to Naija music and all, but first he's a British b4 Nigerian. He just even got a Naija passport this year. Give them any form and a country of citizenship question arises, their answers would be British or English whatever the option is. I don't care if they sing Naija anthem in their dream. When it comes to this football nationality choice, you have to weigh ur options. If we are to be truthful, England and UEFA looks more glamorous and publicised than Nigeria and CAF. I never ever use the term "we lost" them, cos they never were ours in the first place. Just imagine Nura Abdullahi makes it in Roma and ends up playing for Italy, that's who we can refer to as "we lost" cos his primary option is Naija and any other thing becomes secondary. So I like the fact u are aware that we are secondary to most of these British guys Komekn and Forgiveness refer to. Mujtahida: 4 Likes |

komekn:Unfortunately that settlement thing is in our DNA. Some will not like it that I am saying it this way but omo I have lived too long as a Nigerian to know what is in our national psyche. Christians ooo, settlement, Muslims ooo, settlement, Orisha people, settlement, civil servants settlement even court clerks and registrars right in front of judges, settlement. And if you think I blame or condemn Nigerians for this then you are mistaken. I don't blame them one bit. Do I regret that things are this way? Yes, do I desire that it's not this way? O yes! But I do not blame them: the Nigerian society makes the imperatives of survival too pressing and so therefore everyone must be 'smart'. The default setting in Nigeria is that everything is lacking. That's the mentality and shockingly even the rich have this mind set: there's no water, there's no energy, there are no well maintained public infrastructures. Such an atmosphere makes even honest men to cheat just to survive. Imagine this very practical scenario in a professional work setting: the owner of a large office complex made provision for food to be served as lunch everyday. Someone even goes round to inform everyone that lunch is ready Your own is just go queue up. But if you get to the queue you'd see people who came late, shunting and taking away plate of food till at last it would not get to you. This happens repeatedly. Now tell me as a normal Human being what would you do next time? Will you shunt or not. Actually I don't think there's corruption in Nigeria. We just like to make noise about it. |

goldfish80: Players are paid very high bonuses for representing the national team. For many, national team appearances enhance their career prospects. Average people do not earn that kind off money throughout their careers. So while they do make sacrifices, they are usually well compensated. That said, assessing a players' ability is not disrespectful. It is an open secret that several players who have represented Nigeria were simply not good enough. 1 Like |

Kog45: From what I deduced from this is that few individuals have personal interest in the super eagles and at the same time there is personal vendetta against some set of players by these few individuals which as result, is at the detriment of National interest. Can you please explain what played out against these set of players that didn't get invitation to the national team as at that moments they played for bigger clubs or in a better league? Why was Gbenga Okunowo never invited to the national team during his time at Barcelona despite been part of the team that won the league that year? Why was Lukeman Haruna ignored for two sessons during his time at Monaco? We know he was called for a friendly which he only played for 12 minutes. The world cup he went to was due to the injury mikel substained else he for no smell am(arrange thing). Why was he still ignored after the world cup despite helping Monaco to get to the final of Coupe de france? Why was he ignored despite playing regular with a top club like Dynamo Kyve that was regular in champions league and Europa league for 3 good seasons? Why was Some aluko never invited when he was obviously the best player for Rangers in the Scottish League? With all his exploit he has not been capped for more than 5 times. Time will not permit me to to mention all the players they allowed to fizzle out for players like Chidiebere Nwakali. Please kindly explain. Thanks |

goldfish80:The point is not about hat trick. Common it was against Tahiti. I watched that match and while I was rejoicing I still sensed that this is a flasher in action. Kanu didn't score much goals for Nigeria but his over all effect and game impact were top tops. Where's Oduamadi today. He's still young. I respect Oduamadi - every human being deserves respect but footballwise Where is he? |

TheGoodJoe: I am unable to understand your position. Ngolo Kante a few years couldn't even get a club so he played 3rd tier, then 2nd tier before primotion to French league 1. In all this time he was a million miles away from the French team. Walsh at Liecester City and his scouting team identified him as a prospect. Paid the modest £5 million for him. From there he set the premiership on Fire then got a call up to the French National team. He was not called to the French team when he was at Boulogne or Caen. It was after he was proven and tested in the EPL that he got his first cap. So can you explain how this journey of Kante and or Mahrez has any relationship or similarity with Nwakali. All players start somewhere either at the top or the bottom. Each level you play is a test, which will if you perform propel you to the next higher level. Where you start is irrelevant it is how you progress. If you are cutting it week in week out with consistent top quality outstanding performances, no matter the league you will get noticed. Then you will progress, but you will not remain in the backwater leagues unless you are not truly good enough. My view he has not progresed enough to for a call up just in the same way the bench warmer at lowly Wolfsburg Osimhen. For any of them to be called to the SE Are they better than the hundreds of Nigerian players in far better teams playing week in and weak out. You earn your call up to the SE by the consistent performances that put in at your parent club. Not because the scouting crew think you are good. If you are good prove it in your club performance Finito. 1 Like |

komekn: A player like Kante in Nigeria will take even more effort and hardwork to get to such level. Chidiebere Nwakali was picked and prepared by Pellegrini but work permit issues hindered his progress. Mahrez and Kante were good and that is why the grew fast from low leagues to set the EPL on fire. They were quality but followed the route. Writing them off as poor players then is wrong because in few years, they were among the best players in the World. So because Chidiebere Nwakali is in a low League does not mean he is not quality as you are trying to make it. Just as you repeatedly tried hanging Shehu because he was not playing in England. Keep in mind, Celtics wanted Chidi but Pere Guardiola refused to sell. It is not that Chidi can not play for a bigger club but there are other factors holding him back. 2 Likes |

tbaba1234:Well Tammy just rejected a chance to be paid handsomely to represent Nigeria. As a player, you must have had potential to be considered for a call up to represent a country of 200 million people. It's not happenstance. National recognition doesn't come easy. Nnamdi Odumadi was once highly rated in Italy. Ronaldinho named him as a player closest to his skill set in the AC Milan premeviera team. If he was born abroad, many people would have been up in arms if he didn't get a call up at the time. 3 Likes |

forgiveness: Your stats are based on players from different coasts with different factors. Not a true yardstick. The best yardstick is the coach identify specific qualities that shows massive potential, inviting him and watching him closely. Then Rohr can make his assessment. I bet you were among those who fought with blood against Awaziem's call-up because he was not in love with the Queen. |

TheGoodJoe: That's a story that every footballer can give its sad but an unfortunate aspect of football. Nonetheless, if you are quality no matter the team prove it. Mahrez was brought up in the concrete jungles of Paris he was street footballer incredibly skillful He went lower league and proved it. Nwakali is in lower league let him prove himself thier and fight his way out with top performances. When he has proved himself and a better club in a far better league buy him, and he further proves his quality in that far better team and league, nobody will argue. Right now it his career is being falsely boosted with a call up to the SE UNJUSTIFIABLY, that's simply not fair. |

komekn: Chidiebere Nwakali is proving himself enough to get a call-up for assessment. If he was innit doing what he is doing in Championship or League one, you would have been screaming for him. Rohr knows England is not the only place to find talents. That is why he stuck to Shehu and proved most critiques wrong. He will look farther and not get caught up with some mail, post, graph hypes. |
