goldfish80: Tammy has dual citizenship and can decide either way. Oduamadi was once rated highly as a youngster but he did not improve. There was no strong reasons for an invitation to the senior team. He had not shown any thing of note at senior level. It is like saying Solanke should be invited to the England senior team based on his youth performances. Two different levels. |

Mujtahida: I know it was only Tahiti. But the truth is that we have played countries of relative strength to Tahiti and still some of our super star players never scored a hattrick against them. We played a stranded, badly beat up, war torn, Liberia. A country that couldn't boast of a stadium. Yet, our Super star players couldn't do a hattrick against them. Like Igbos will say, ejiro onu etinye azu na ofe. |

The only problem people have with Nwakali is not because of talent but he is not in a glorified League. Forgetting that he is not in a glorified League because of circumstances outside talent. I have stressed this many times and I am glad Rohr is looking outside the league hype. 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: National team is not dumping ground for every d...h....it is for those who have distinguished themselves among the rest. As it is Chidiebere Nwakali is not qualified to be given any chance ahead of those who are doing well better than him. They didn't get to where they through magomago way like chidiebere is about to do. He is not the best in Norway neither is he considered for any award because he is not pleasant to behold even in the low low lowly Norwegian league. Sorry. |

forgiveness: Nigeria is not innit where you do not get hindered by work permit and other racial factors. It is a longer road. That is why we have to go the extra mile to polish our true gems to shine. That is why Westerhof found a true gem like Oliseh, polished him with the National team and he shone for the World to see. 1 Like |

tbaba1234: I guess this is the point we dilly dally on when best it is to call up a player. Do we wait till the player have blown? Or do we invite them over and integrate them early if they have the potential. Do you know Siasia and Simon Kalika wanted to build the Super Eagles attack around Victor Moses and Oduamadi? I read the spreadsheet interview by Kalika where he stated as much. |

forgiveness: I have told you, he is good enough. That was why Brendan Rodgers wanted him. That was why Pellegrini took him on tour with Manchester City before he injured. That is why City have refused to sell him. He is in a lowly-rated League because of circumstances, not lack of talent. Finito. 2 Likes |

komekn:There's no doubt that your position is a sensible one namely that players should pass through the filters of competition at strong clubs and leagues before national team call up. But at the same time such laws should not be rigidly applied. The truth however is that in our own case they are no standards. That's where we are at now. |

Chrismario:Macheda got an Italian call up when he burst through the scene. Players get called up if the national team managers think they have potentials. Nnamdi Oduamadi didn't get a call up for doing nothing at the time. He was very close to the AC Milan first team just like we have the right back at Roma now. |

TheGoodJoe: I have sat with at least ten different HOD of recruitment in the premiership over the last 10 years. In all cases there is a balance score card system of sorts to determine players selection. Never is selection done on the hunch and perception of one coach. Unless the performances are so outstanding that there is no debate. That will be the case of top performing players. This is not about England but the best leagues in the world, whether it is the MLS which is comprehensively ahead of the Nordic leagues by a huge margin. A player in a third from bottom team in a league rated 30 in Europe is a non starter. I actually would rate the NPFL higher than the Norwegian league 1 Like |

goldfish80:So because of the hat trick Oduamadi should continue in the team? Mba scored the goal that won for us our third nations cup. Where's Mba today. Football is a performance sport, it's results driven. It's not like our politics where for purposes of political patronage and settlement people are compensated/rewarded with juicy appointments and they go seat there and do nada. In football you are 'compensated' too but your performance this round, guarantees your 'compensation' next round. It's a law: you must perform. You don't, you get kicked out. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Let's say a player is invited based on potential. At some point, it has got to register that he does not cut it at senior level yet. For many, it was confusing to see Oduamadi playing so many games when he was not at that level. |

Mujtahida:You probably haven't been following my small talk with tbaba1234. The anchor point of my argument is that every player deserves respect in their own right. If we take stock, you will realise that most players fans usually have a go at have somewhat justified their inclusion in the team. Obviously not every player, but you get my drift. Infact, the much maligned Paul Onobi won man of the match award in an AFCON qualifier game played in Port Harcourt. |

tbaba1234:Funny enough, this was the exact same thing I said about Ekong. He was a joke player when he first got invites to the Super Eagles. He was very bad at ball distribution (still suck at that), swings wildly at crosses like a drunk and generally very incompetent for this level. It's a small miracle he is as good as he is now. Football managers are not wizards. They are humans like everybody else. This is why fair chances should be given to everyone. You never can tell where the next gem could come from. 2 Likes |

Mujtahida: He was comparing Egwuekwe with Otigba. The tone in his comparison was quite derogatory to Egwuekwe. No disrespect to Otigba, but Its not like Egwuekwe was being compared to Cannavaro. It was a witch hunt not analysis. |
