The Bell 412 was not purchased by the Nigerian Air Force. It was initially purchased by the Rivers State Government in 2015 for the Nigerian Police Force based in the state. Allegedly, due to the inability of the Rivers state government to pay custom duties it was seized by the Federal Government.

With the change in administration, the current government in Rivers announced it has now gifted the helicopter to the Nigerian Air Force.

The Federal government continues to maintain it was seized, while the current Rivers state says it was gifted.

What ever the truth is, it is now wearing Nigerian Air Force colours.

I would like to see Nigeria develop
1) An amphibious APC
2) A 6X6 troop carrier.
While I applaud the move by the NA to develop a GPMG , if the powers that be are listening, they should lobby very hard to modernize all the
Armour ed Brigades specifically to upgraded T-72s and T-90s this should be a priority.The vickers should be phased out, the current T-72 in action when they come in for maintenance should be upgraded. The T-55 those that are serviceable should be withdrawn and used strictly at NDA or at the Armour ed training school.
