@Duch1020,please kindly share d link am also interested.

There's no link other than the name of the website which I had shared. My advice is based on my experience. It might not work for travelers from Nigeria. It seems there are few concessional tickets from Nigeria to Australia. While you are waiting for IOM to respond, take a look at other options online...

FYI

Cheap flights here. I used same route to Melbourne and I had no issues. I paid 300k for a one-way ticket from Abuja to Melbourne.
Those of you coming to Melbourne you might not need IOM afterall.
Hint: You may wanna have a handful of snacks in your hand luggage.

Focus on getting your PR and then get the Bleep outta there. I hear some health professionals there don't get penalty rates...don't know how true that is. I wouldn't know cos I am on a salary but an Indian told me a few years ago

The union is more active in WA. They fight the government and other health care organizations like crazy for better pay rate. That's why the pay there is good. No be small fight

You may want to try www.skyscanner.com , it compares prices from all sites on the web.

Please confirm if you would need a transit visa when using the ethiopian. I was told I needed one cos the layover in Singapore. Found it strange since I won't be leaving d airport. Anyways Emirates via IOM was my preferred choice. Yea d prices listed at Skyscanner are similar to that on wakanow.

I don't live in WA but I understand the housing market there. You will find'relatively' cheap accommodation in any of those suburbs. By that means your definition of cheap. Accommodation is not expensive in WA compared to other cities.

You can even get a cheap place in St James which is only about 18mins to the CBD.

To assess the market, go to www.realestate.com.au choose rent and put each of those suburbs to compare.

Sorry o. Wrong thread.

How could I have been so careless with this beautiful thread.

Una sorry o. I love you all here.

But it will be unfair if I don't address an issue someone raised earlier. The person was comparing the hospitality of Nigerians in UK to their counterparts in Australia. But in their usual modest manner, Nigerians in Australia tried to downplay this virtue.

Nigerians in Oz are known to be good and very hospitable just like their host. Mostly because foreigners in Oz tend to assimilate more into the Oz system which encourages communalism and honesty.

Oz environment is also an environment that looks out for one another irrespective of race and religion. UK environment looks tight, unfriendly and too individualistic. Most European countries are like this.

Of course, there are loads of exceptional cases on both sides.

NIPOST have actually surprised me a few times over the past 3 years. I remember my sister tried to talk me into using NIPOST to send some stuff from Naija to Australia. I refused to even consider it until 1 day I decided to try them out. I asked for some foodstuff, egusi, shea butter, crayfish, knorr, royco, Ijebu garri, poundo(powder form), groundnut, e.t.c. I received the package 3 weeks later with everything intact.

@wellendowed @bellong @tyosho @funkyjo @jamson and all my other ppl it's time to come and give us jist

Soooo I am suddenly getting attracted to Perth for only God knows what reason meanwhile I was bent on going to Melbourne before oh. So I am here thinking is it going to be easy to get those sharp sharp jobs like forklift and care jobs initially before one settles down to a white collar job in Perth.
I am believing God that I will do my Master in Social work and am already applying self. My hubby is an HR professional and will like to continue in that line. We have two children 4 yrs old and 10months old.

Please I am interested in what you all think based on your experiences

@Phlunter01,

As previously discussed, getting a job are subject to two main conditions, all other conditions being constant.
1. The ability of the applicant to address the selection criteria. That means how the applicant is able to sell himself/herself to the employer by meeting the requirements.
2. Luck and other factors anybody do not have control over.

In my opinion, Perth is about the best place to live in Australia. Western Australia government pays the highest in the country aside the relative cheaper cost of living. Adelaide used to be the cheapest place to live but no more.

Yes, you can get care jobs and HR jobs are readily available. Getting it is dependent on factor 1 earlier described.

Caveat: I don't live in Perth, my advice may be biased. And I think wellendowed is in the best position to tell you about Perth's job market, everyone one of us will only talk about where we live.

However, you can do a micro-comparison by checking seek.com.au to compare by states.

You will get care jobs in Perth just do a Cert course on it first...it would increase your chances.

Are you coming as a PR or student? If you are considering care jobs as a PR get one part time and then agency. I knew an Australian care worker in Perth that made up to 40 dollars per hour on weekends working agency. Agencies pay better but hours are not guaranteed

Social work especially in acute care would open opportunities for you. Especially social work in MENTAL HEALTH wards

I used to say that WA no doubt is the highest paying state for health workers but now I am going to add mining/oil and gas, after I heard from both Nigerians and Zimbabweans that left Perth for other states
