Yeah I noticed that too. For his age.

Reminds me of Kabiru Akinsola aka Omo Alhaja. I loved that guy die. He was a bull of an attacker. But his weight was his problem.

Mujtahida:

That might be a criteria, framework but not a rigid rule as komekn seems to make it to be. Because to be fair, there's a link between the quality of a player and the league he plays in but I still regard this criteria as just one out of other modes through which players for the national team can be selected. Komekn error or misconception is that he regards this criteria as the Alpha and Omega, the sole mode for choosing players.

I do not actually but I consider it the strict rule with an exception for outstanding talent. Is this player the best in the lowly Norwegian league Has he been outstanding exceptional quality in that league

What I alluded to in my last post was to say essentially that if you are outstanding in your league no matter the level, you will get recognised. That will in turn result in an upward progression to better leagues and better teams.

On the other hand if you are not outstanding there will be a gradual downward spiral towards lesser leagues and teams.

Because of the nature of our Nigerian character and our inherent characteristic. Once you do not have defined parameters and quality measurement then it's open to abuse. And if anything in Nigeria can be opened to abuse, then it most certainly will be. I don't really need to expand on this.

If you pick a player who is totally undeserving and he then gives a good account of himself. That's not the point it is irrelevant .

It means that a more competent player who was more deserving has been denied an opportunity. We will now never know how good and or much better the more deserving players could have been. The end does not justify the means in the context of probity, integrity and Fair-Play

In England, France, Germany, Brazil where has a player ever been selected without any under pining pedigree of quality from an obscure league. The entire England team will almost completely emanate from the EPL. The basis of selection will always be current continous or immediate past quality performances.

Fred playing 140+ league games is far from possible though I'm not taking it along as he's still 20.

I can say that he's afraid of competitions and maybe doubts his talent which made him to turn down watford if true. He would have taken up the challenge against best.

Many 17 year olds has won MOTM many times.
Just one very good game will give you MOTM so it's not a yardstick of measurement rather it's consistency.
He needs to do more.

Can you tell me how many 17 year old have won MOTM awards in the last 3 years in the entire English professional league.

You said many so you should be quite easy for you to name just 10 over three years.

If i can understand you very well you believe one section in this country were being treated unjustly when it comes to invitation to the national team.I just guess,so am not tagging you a tribal guy because you are expressing your view.

I don't think there is anything like that and if you want to look it at critically, truly invitations to national team should be based on merits but sometimes we see a player in the team that warrant question,my man it happens and only coach can explain.

Good you mentioned Gbenga Okunowo case when he was doing well at Barcelona meaning you want us to go to memory lane to discuss this issue.I can tell you a lot of players that find themselves in such situations in national team, some find their way forcefully some couldn't get invitations.

1.I believe you remember Richard Owubokiri, this was a player that paint Europe with goals, highest goalscorer in the whole in the whole Europe but find it difficult to get invitation. He was forced on Westerhoff against South Africa and in that match he had a goal. This great player was substituted and never get a call up again.

2.Mike Obiku was a very good player doing it well with Feyenord in dutch league scoring goals but couldn't make it to the national team, his exploit in dutch league can only be rival by Finidi George but this guy was not given chance, may be few caps.

3.Chris Ohenhen was one of the greatest Nigeria striker in LA liga history scoring goals for compostella every season but find it difficult to get invitation made just few appearances for Eagles, the rest is history.

4.Godwin Opara was a very good CB playing in French league for Strasbourg later PSG but did you know Godwin forced his way into the team prior to France 98 after being denied the opportunity for so long with Nigeria preferred using average CB like Uche Okafor,Isaac Semitoje.

5.Karibe Ojigwe was a perfect DM/CM having a good time then with Karlsruhe later Bayern Leverkusen but did you know what, this guy was denied invitation despite doing well but a very average player like Garba Lawal was getting invitation with coaches telling us he was playing to instructions.

6.James Obiorah was a mercurial player, marvellous to watch, very skillful and highly rated youngster who was denied invitation when it matter most. This guy saved Nigeria qualifications to Atlanta 96 with stunning free kick just two minutes to the end of that particular match i can't really recollect the match.

Did you know Obiorah was forced to be invited for that match but after the match no invitation again until a Jamaica match prior to France 98,he put on a superlative performance but was dropped. It was this frustration that forced him to make a confession prior to 2002 W/C that national team coaches are collecting bribes, he came into the team and displaced Wilson Oruma.

7.Benjamin Nzeakor a very good winger in his days but couldn't get the call when necessary one of the very few Nigerians to play in Brazilian league.

8.Uwem Ekarika good winger in his days but couldn't smell national team like others who are not better than him, very few caps.

9.James Etokebe a good winger who was doing well but not giving much chance in eagles to impress.

10.Kalu Uche the senior bro of Ike Uche find it so hard to break into Eagles, though he later did but that was at the later end of his career.A lot don't know that Kalu was the best player at COJA but was denied invitation despite doing well every season in Europe until he find his way and appeared at 2010W/C scoring two goals.

11.Ajibade Babalade had a great appearance at Senegal 92 paring Keshi at the CB better than Uche Okafor but after Afcon he find it difficult to get into the team .

12.Chidi Nwanu was doing well in Europe and was the best Nigeria CB playing for Anderlecht but Westerhoff denied him invitation preferring even player like Isaac Semitoje,he gatecrashed into US 94 when it was obvious that his presence was needed in the team.

Honestly we have a lot of them and is not based on where you come from,it happens and only coach can gives reasons because sometimes is a puzzle for fans seeing certain player doing well and not getting invitation.

Well, your freedom of thought to assume can't be infringed. However, I have broader view and knowledge about the situation in regards to selection of players to the National team holistically than what you presented. I mean I can figure out which is which.

So, take off your mind from there.

In regards to what you just wrote there, don't forget you gave a little bit of what could be affecting Kayode's progressing into the National team, which in response, I highlighted 3 players in other to find out from you what could had affected there chances when it was very obvious they were better than some players in the national team.

Most of those players you listed played in that era many where better than them.

On a more serious Note, I think Forgiveness is really crossing the Line with his Allegations and Submissions. He's not the only Yoruba Man commenting or visiting the Thread on daily Basis.

I would advise him to stop referencing to certain Section of the Country getting more Recognitions for the National Teams Call ups, coz we actually do not need it. This kinda Reasoning is very absurd and he's given some to tag him a Bigot.

Its very unfortunate matured Men are engaging him in this kinda Discourse. It's better Forgiveness is ignored than engaging him on tribal Issue. We are all Nigerians, thus we should be less-concerned with who is repping us in the National Teams.

It actually makes no sense asking for equal Representation in the National Teams, coz its simply translating to DISUNITY in the Country. President, SGF, COS, majority of the Service Chiefs are from a Section of the Country, does that mean there are no better Heads than them?!

I advise Forgiveness once Again to please stop causing DISCORD from the tribal Point of View. I'm ain't saying he's a Bigot, rather advising him to quit toeing the Path. I expect the Thread to be discussing and analyzing our Chances with the List, instead of this incessant Discourse.

How am I causing discord? Where did you see me making references that certain part of the country is getting more recognition than others?

If you think the President appointment is tilted towards one section of the country based on Nepotism, don't you also think Chidiebere's invitation contradicts your philosophy of Merit befor Mediocre?

Oga, I am saying things as it is. Spare me abeg. because you are not different.
