Kog45: You alluded that Kayode non-invitation was due to NFF politics. Why can't he just be because he is not the coach's kind of player or did not perform in camp? Rohr is the only coach that has invited Kayode twice now. He has been called up. 3 Likes |

tbaba1234: No be Forgiveness?? He'd come out to say Kayode was purposely given 10 minutes to play, so he won't have much time to play. I wonder what he'd do when he doesn't get to play, which is very likely. 3 Likes |

So, I missed out on this drama surrounding Tammy's call up. Well, I'm not fazed. I've seen it all along, I doubted him coming through for us. He's made a professional decision, and I can't in clear conscience fault that, if that would help his career is what's left to be seen. I don't blame Pinnick for this, he's done his part. No one would say they never enjoyed the publicity that came along with this whole debacle, how many of us were happy seeing how the English fans were all jittery and panicky on their various football forums. Another +ve I'd draw from the publicity is that everyone would know we went in for him, and would be watching how far his international career progresses, what the media would say if he's treated unfairly in which case he'd be used as a reference point to others who'd find themselves in his situation. At least, my boy Dessers is there. It'd be a shame if we lose out on him. 2 Likes |

Five things to know about Kayode Olanrewaju 15 Aug, 2017 Colin Udoh, KweséESPN comment What do 17 goals in an Austrian season get you? An impending deal with nouveau riche Manchester City, that's what, and Nigeria striker Kayode Olanrewaju is the man reaping the fruits of his potency. The forward is reportedly close to a transfer to City in a move seemingly out of left field, and is expected to spend the next season on loan to Spanish side Girona. Here are five things about the new City arrival-then-departure. 1. Olanrewaju was a member of the Nigeria Under-17 class of 2009, which finished as runners-up to Switzerland at the World Cup in Nigeria. Although he played in every single game, he never lasted a full match and failed to score a single goal. Some of his contemporaries in that side were Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo and Ramon Azeez. International stars who played include Alvaro Morata, Shkodran Mustafi, Mario Gotze, Granit Xhaka, Isco and one Neymar ... who managed to score a grand total of one goal. 2. 'Larry' also played at two further FIFA cadet tournaments - the Under-20 World Cups in 2011 and 2013, scoring a combined total of five goals. Three of those came in Colombia in 2011, where he scored in consecutive group phase games. 3. Kayode started his career with Ibadan-based Marvelous FC, from where he moved to Ghana to join Red Bull FC. It was from Ghana that he was recommended to Nigeria Under-17 coach John Obuh, went for tryouts, and was picked for the World Cup squad. Prior to all of that, he was trained by one of the country's top youth coaches and spotters of talent, simply called Zico. Olanrewaju says he is grateful for the tutelage, telling KweséESPN: "I am happy with him and everyone else for what they contributed to my career." 4. It has been a grueling road for Olanrewaju, who had to overcome numerous roadblocks as he clawed his way up. Loaned out to ASEC Mimosas by Red Bull, he had trouble settling at the club and was eventually forced to go back home, where he was registered with Heartland before he could make his move to Israeli second division club Maccabi Nentaya. During his time in Israel he was managed by Emeka Ezeala, who used to work with former Germany coach Berti Vogts when the latter coached Nigeria. Olanrewaju's 13 goals and six assists helped haul Netanya to promotion. 5. Olanrewaju is a quick striker who can play centrally, but he is equally well-equipped to operate as a wide forward. Former teammate and Birmingham-bound midfielder Ogenyi Onazi says the striker has always been ready to take in as much knowledge as possible. "He is a person who always wants to learn and join in everything," Onazi told KweséESPN. Onazi says even in their cadet days, the potential was there: "He was fast then, but the issue was his finishing. Now he has played under good coaches and learned how to finish, he will be deadly." A bold statement to make, but sources close to the player's camp told KweséESPN that Pep Guardiola watched films of the youngster for two months before making a decision on him. If true, that tells its own story, and a good one too. https://www.google.com.ng/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=8&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjfg8a2xKPXAhXMthoKHVSbCesQFghcMAc&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.espnfc.com%2Fstory%2F3180232%2Ffive-kayode-olanrewaju-facts&usg=AOvVaw0uPd8gdMhpcZFbMmY7Nm60 It is not about Kayode. it is about the rules that must guide the merits and dis-merits of selection of playere into the National team. No double standard. 3 Likes 1 Share |

forgiveness: Like i said earlier, Nigeria played just one competitive match in 1999 with our first team players. All other matches were prosecuted with mostly home-based or second string players. The greek match you are referring too happened in the second half of 99 (I forgot to include that initially), when Gbenga was in Benfica. The only first team players in that match were Oliseh and I think Taribo and a few others. These are the facts, to borrow your own words. Come with a contrary one showing that he was ignored for any competitive match. Okunowo played for the flying eagles while in Barcelona. If his rejection was foul play as you claimed, why did he become first choice RB when he was sent on loan and his stock apparently reduced? Did the handlers suddenly begin to stop being corrupt or they suddenly fell in love with him after he was shipped out? 1 Like |

komekn: From your first paragraph.was Mikel Obi not scout from thesame league that was ranked 30th in europe ? According to your words no good players can come from any league between10 to 30? Definitely all players from Africa country are worse... Whereas you have mention francophone players making it in france You are making It seems as if those players playing in that league are pooo pooo players without no qualities of what so ever... Mikel played in thesame league and he was scouted by man Utd And chelsea, thesame with Ekong and he came out good to the extent of being nominated as one of the African best player... You cant keep writing off leagues and players in name of "best"..you are not Rohr... Rohr has made his choice and he knows what he want... Assuming Chelsea and man Utd have this your mentality they won't give Mikel a chance... I perceive And think you only know about the Business part of football that's all... Any other part of football you know is supeficial... 9 Likes |

komekn: My assertion is neither limited to mere 3 years nor EPL but across all leagues over the years. That he won MOTM on his debut in championship is indeed wonderful but what happened later? Reece Oxford did same at 16 year in Premiership against a top Arsenal. Your regular mentioning of MOTM on his debut makes one to wonder how many years ago. How and where you started does not matter much but consistency and improvement. How many MOTM had he won this season at 20 ? How many last season? It could be fair to say he had dropped from his 17 level. 5 Likes |
