The Technical Approach to Trading and Investing

Few human activities have been so exhaustively studied during the past
century, from so many angles and by so many different sorts of people, as
has the buying and selling of corporate securities. The rewards which the
stock market holds out to those who read it right are enormous; the penalties
it exacts from careless, dozing, or “unlucky” investors are calamitous. No
wonder it has attracted some of the world’s most astute accountants, analysts,
and researchers, along with a motley crew of eccentrics, mystics, and
“hunch players,” and a multitude of just ordinary hopeful citizens…..

Bros, you can actually google more books:
Some are:
- ThinkandGrowRich - by Napoleon Hill
- Reminiscences of A stock Operator - by Edwin Lefevre
- Beating The Street - by Peter Lynch

Another very good starting point is the presentation by our own @BullBearMkt some months ago (around March 2017) here.
However, the resource persons on this forum can't be quantified. These guys are just too much! You are in the right place.
Happy investing!!

I have been monitoring the debate on caverton for some time now and personally I don't seem to be confortable with the business model/nature of business of the company (looks like a white elephant project/business model). Secondly, the stock is not liquid enough for ease of exit. Thirdly, buying the stock is more or less like buying into "hope". I will rather buy DF/Sugar or Mobil/Eterna, UBA/Zenith and Okomu/Presco even at their current price, because I know that even when the bear comes, I will still sleep with rest of mind as their prices will surely rebound and surpass where they where before. I Just don't know the reason why someone have to walk on the valley of the shadow of death when there are so many safe routes that one can pass; NSE has so many stocks that we can confortably buy and sleep well, so why will someone be hell bent on gambling?

This is just a personal opinion please.

@ fxuser, please review general rule (100 level) to apply MACD/RSI for buy/sell/hold decision.
- Daily =
- Weekly =
- Monthly =

Appreciate your help Bro!

Nice question .. cud take pages to drill down ohh umm

Both derive their data from price and volume !

Therefore :
daily is very noisy
weekly is smoother
monthly is very slow and very smooth

Best to chk Monthly first , den weekly before daily to get a better perspective for both

I cant cover d buy , hold and sell . I learnt so much from the playlist below:

Vid link:
Macd (part 1 - 11 )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8OEHFpe2zE&t=720s

RSI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odza4cG3EwY&list=PLjHhEQ5LDpkb8JhsWT166IiNBFtZMJwLn

Take your time and watch d series, feel free to let me know if u have any more questions AFTER.

Some Key points
1) Sell negative divergences , Buy positive divergences , the longer the frame d higher the probability or validity
2) RSI oversold is NOT a buy signal , RSI overbought is NOT a sell signal esp in d longer time frames (weekly and monthly)
3) Weekly or Monthly RSI in overbought levels can remain in those levels for a long time (u hold those stocks wen overbought )
4) MACD buy crossover signal above the zero line is more valid than below zero line esp on weekly,
5) Monthly macd is very very slow but helps confirm d long term view / trend

All da best

Good morning Currentprice. I want to follow others here to give honor to whom it is due. When I saw the nos coming from air service your words confirmed it I part toke in the loot. Also same with Fidson and Cil. For caveton not very sure but I will jump in because your forcast has not failed. I have done my DD and does not have anything to loss. I know that with time it will be clear to me. what do you think about cileasin, because I am yet to sell. I still think with the nos and prospect can still hit N3.00 in due time. Pls I need your contributions. Thank you.

Thanks for this.. significantly changed my viewpoint... would likely consider this for my long term portfolio

Segun Adeniyi is just making a sales pitch with little substance. No name of the OEM etc.

Nothing against Caverton. I however hope that people understand the business model and the competition.

Caverton indeed has taken a number of contracts from Bristow. Of course, we know how contracts are done in Nigeria especially when it involves NNPC/NAPIMS.

Caverton does have competitors including local competitors. Aero basically own the NNPC contract. There is a new one NESTAV a subsidiary of Nestoil which will compete fiercely with Caverton.

So if you are buying Caverton, in addition to numbers, use Porter's Five Forces to analyse the industry.

COMMENT ON NSE ALL SHARE INDEX FOR 3 NOVEMBER 2017/OTHERS

Last week was a positive one. The big equities did well as reflected in the percentage change for the week on the Official weekly report, see the premium index performance. Looking at the NSE All share index projected high/low points for the week is shown below. I have realised that simple mathematics works in the market an we will use it to guide us on what to do. Wlii follow up next week on this.

Further to my last week posting. Dangote Flour was among the 10 top for last week. However, CI Leasing failed to appreciate despite the good result (won ti gba penalty lo si throwing??- using Small Doctor song). Therefore picking up from here, after review of the charts using support resistance and supply and demand, CI Leasing is in a very strong buy position, with minimal risk to the downside. The expected gain is meaningful, while the stop loss is equally very low, just because it is good to have stop loss (I will put this at about 20kobo). projected high and low for this week likely to be: High – 1.78 : Low- 1.68

The time horizon to yield profitability is equally very short, within one month.

Equally the high/low prices for NSEALL share, for this week and the next one month are projected as follows:

High Low
Price Projection- For Week Ending 11/11/17- 37,248.22 36,383.79
Price Projection- For Month of November- 37,429.51 35,543.07

If you are interested in the spreadsheet for these weekly high and low forecast spread sheet, you can send me an e-mail via my profile in the forum. Send me the list of stock you are interested in an I will e-mail the monthly projection to you for the indicated equities.

Caution: Investing is a risky venture. This is just my opinion and I cannot be liable for any loss suffered as a result of following this recommendation All data used are assumed to be correct, but you may need to verify some of the figures independently.
