This the IAI Nesherof the Argentine Air Force, it's a Mirage 5 convention. I didn't know until tonight that the SAAF received 5 of them from the Israelis that were converted into Cheetahs - interesting, but what's more interesting is that Paramount Group has sourced Mirage 5s which were originally designed for the Israelis.

On a related note, I believe only two countries currently operate the Mirage 5: Pakistan and Gabon.

Every time another country retires its Mirage 5 fleet or some company offers a few for sale on the open market, Pakistan quickly snaps them up because they have the largest fleet in the world and badly need parts for them.

Gabon might want the Paramount Mirages for the same reason, they have eleven but ten of those are unserviceable.

When I worked in Jeddah I had a Yank colleague who said the Neshers were just Mirage 5s delivered in kit form to Israel. He said the first batch were assembled by foreign technicians (mostly British and American, including himself) on short term contract, who then trained Israeli technicians to take their place and assemble the rest. He dismissed the notion that the Israelis built their Neshers from scratch as being a propaganda exercise, and compared it to the way our politicians claimed the Cheetahs were a 100% "home grown" design when they were first unveiled.

Btw,anyone noticed the popularity of the AR platform? Everyone from the major gun makers like Sig with their AR 10 seen here,HK,FN,Colt,S&W, Barret Rifles and the smaller builders like Wilson,Daniel Defense,Bravo company etc, etc have an AR platform loaded in the original 5.56 mm,6.8mm to 7.62 NATO and x39mm.

Imo,it must be the modularity, the speed of changing the lower and upper receiver and basic simple effective design.

Haiyya! Vlad has his own AR-15! BEHOLD !?

NAF COMMISSIONS PROJECTS TO FULLY OPERATIONALIZE NEW UNIT IN GUSAU

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on 5 November 2017, commissioned some projects at its 207 Quick Response Force (QRF) in Gusau, Zamfara State. The commissioned projects include an office complex, 3 blocks of 30-room airmen’s transit accommodation, an obstacles course and a rapelling tower. The commissioning of the projects marked the formal relocation of the Unit from its temporary site to the permanent one. The event, according to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, was an “empirical demonstration of the NAF’s resolve to actualize its vision for future engagements”. He disclosed that 207 QRF was established to deal with threats to national security, particularly in Zamfara State.

Minusma on the road between Gao and Kidal.

Each month MINUSMA MOVCON organise massive logistic convoys involving up to hundred civilian and military vehicles to supply remote UN bases in northern Mali. The roads are the most dangerous in the country due to frequent encounter with mines and IED.

After reading the above, 1st question that came to me was "why is their convoy spacing so poor"?

New delivery vehicles for the Burkinabe contingent deployed in Mali.

Vehicles most likely driven by contractors.

Because what is basic logic in South Africa is not basic logic in other countries. This is when you realise why the British and the Americans are always teaching some African armies basic combat skills.

A British hostage kidnapped in Nigeria's southern Delta state has been killed and three others freed, the Foreign Office (FCO) has confirmed.

Ian Squire was one of four Britons reportedly taken at about 02:00 local time on 13 October.
The British High Commission and Nigerian authorities negotiated the release of Alanna Carson, David Donovan and Shirley Donovan.
The FCO said it had been a "traumatic time" for those involved.
An FCO spokesperson said that Nigerian authorities were investigating the kidnapping, adding: "Our staff will continue to do all we can to support the families."
Relatives of the four said they were "delighted and relieved" that Ms Carson, Mr Donovan and Mrs Donovan had returned safely.
"Our thoughts are now with the family and friends of Ian as we come to terms with his sad death," they said in a statement issued on their behalf.
"This has been a traumatic time for our loved ones who were kidnapped and for their families and friends here in the UK."
The FCO currently advises against all but essential travel to much of Delta state, saying there is a "high threat of criminal kidnap".http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-41890060
