good day everyone, am a graduate of psychology from university of Ibadan. I would love to do my m.sc in u. s.
secondly am an Alfa with beards won't that be a barrier with the V. O during interview. and I can't remove it for a trillion dollars..
your advice will be highly appreciated
thanks
The US embassy does not care if you keep your beards or not. I am a Muslim and also keep my beards although I don't have much of it naturally, but enough that most people in Nigeria call me "Alfa" when they see me. I didn't even feel any different at the embassy and even in the US nobody cares. You see different shades of people, from Indian Sikhs with beards and turban,Americans who keep beards because of whatever reason to Muslims with beards and cap. Even when I rocked my Buba and Sokoto with cap to campus on Friday after Eid, no one bat an eyelid, only my colleague complimented my looks and were curious about the clothing.

Like the VO replied to someone who gave you a false information, just make sure you are a genuine student and stay within the boundaries of the law. May Allah guide us.

Hello house pls who knows anyone that has moved from the US to canada as a student...since canada offers one opportunity to work after studies. How was the transitioning like? Pls help a brother wit information. Thanks in advance

I know a few with most coming here for PhD and others Masters. The transitioning is normal however, depending on the city of the school coupled with your lifestyle, there is another cultural (for the lack of a better word) shock awaiting you. The country is nice, you might be able to get your PR before you finish your program (dependent on if you have work experience from back home), and as for work, I cannot ascertain. The market is smaller than the American market thus, makes it extremely competitive and from the experience of those working, there is some subtle racism (such as paying a Canadian who has lesser experience more than you on the same job which I think David Card's upcoming paper talks about too).

Hello Everyone,

I would like to express my appreciation to the wonderful gurus and members of this informative site for the wonderful job you'll are doing and the support you proffer to everyone on here. I have gone through several of the threads and transcript to see the relevance of this site as I also want to present mine for assistance and advice.

I recently gained admission to Dakota State University, U.S, to study an undergraduate program in Computer and Information Science for Spring 2018 semester. I applied with my Senior High (WAEC) results tho I completed in 2011 (6yrs ago). The school have sent my Sevis No. to pay for the fee and I-20 for visa application and to schedule an appointment (will start processing today if my odds are less).

They waived the English proficiency exam test and gained me the admission since my High School studies were taught in English but they have indicated in the I-20 (documents to submit for interview), *Supporting Test Scores (GRE, TOFEL/IELTS) as the last item. They have also indicated that the Spring '18 Semester starts on January 4, 2018...

Now, the issue is should I sit for the TOFEL exam (studied before) and attach it to my documents as stated in the I-20 since the VO might request for it? **I know this migt be ridiculous as time is not on my side, but I check the available date for the TOFEL exam and its 17/11/2017 and results will be out on 27/11/2017 (10 days) which I can attach supposing I get a 2nd week visa appointment. (Ghana)

As well, I need advice and assistance on the key questions at the interview relating to my program of study (Computer and Information Science), incase I proceed with the visa acquisition process.

Thank you! Man is Hot! smiley

Did you write SAT?
I recommend you write either SAT or TOFEL for visa purpose.

I will be found wanting at that very moment...i'll do my best and write the TOFEL since that is much easier...

And can you kindly assist me with some of the important interview questions frequently asked by the VO and how I should answer them

Good day nairalanders, I'm glad I am finally able to join this forum.i have a question I would like you guys to share your views on, i am currently stuck in my admission process because of the sponsorship of my education,i have an aunty in the US who can definitely act as my sponsor but the problem is that it might be risky to use a relative who is already in the US because the consular officer may think I'm trying to immigrate and this could lead to a denial, the second option is an organization here in Nigeria (the organization is a church),I'm kind of confused because I don't know if an organization's bank statement can be considered as a strong fanancial evidence that shows I have the readily available funds,I'm also worried that using an organization's bank statement may not show strong ties to Nigeria .I was able to ask few people questions about this before now, they gave me good advice but I believe that It is still better I throw this question to everyone.it is said that a person who asks questions never loose his/her way. Thanks

Someone should please give me direction on how to pay for visa fee using gt online banking as I am having issue using it... This is the error message I am getting

The error means you input a string value in a DateField. Well, the dev should av used javascript to attach a calendar to the field for better UX.

Anyway, you can make payment via GTbank website under travels and fees or so. Or use GTWorld to make payment.

The mistake people which i see here is been so focused on the interview and not on the actual schoolling process

The most important question is how would you pay for the school if given the visa..... It not easy falling out and been out of status so you have to ensure your sponsor is not for sponsor sake but someone who will actual pay for the program

Well my aunt is actually The one responsible for my education and she has the funds to act as a sponsor so Does this mean I should go ahead with my aunt as the sponsor regardless of the fact That she resides in the US.

The big question is how do you fund your education if you eventually get the visa?

Well, for sponsorship sake, it's much better if your aunty could act as your sponsor. But make sure it is not the same state she lives that you want to go to.

Greetings to the honorable members of the forum.
My visa was delayed in August, 2017. Because the useless agent processed 5 years undergraduate studies in Biochemistry in CSUEB.
I just gained admission for masters degree in one year accelerated master of science in Business in Lincoln University.
I'm planning to go for interview by December.
I need your expertise advice on how to convince vo for this change.
Any advice will help please.

i think a conditional admission shows on the i-20. Regardless, you must be ready to answer why you have to. Give smart replies. But its mot entirely a problem
