From the story you narrated you never mentioned if there was a warranty and how long!

I bought a fairly used laptop from a store I had bought 1 about A year ago, based on my user experience, the laptop performed and served me well..
I decided to go for another one
I was given warranty as usual 1 week, after the warranty expire the keyboard stop working, had to change it with my money to a new one.. now I'm enjoying it..

Sometimes you need to just let some small things go..

I have the controller back!!!
Will do an in-depth test today; mind you
I have already order for a 60A one from Amazon . . . because I cannot trust this one to last long
When it arrives, I will replace it and give out this one.
And unlike Kiekie (who will still want to sell it and beat his chest like KingKong (no pun intended)),
I will give it out for free with a disclaimer that it has been worked upon so use at your own risk !!!

Hello Pranil, which lifepo4 battery system did u finally purchase and have u commissioned it yet?

Just finished putting in service BYD Pro 10 KWh 48 Volts - took 90 minutes to charge from 50 % to 100 % ( was charging at 70 amps)
Now sitting idle. will do a load test tomorrow but the battery is reporting 130 amps rating at 30 DEG which is not bad as my inverter is rated only for 5 KW .

Integrated nicely with my Victron inverter and CCGX with canbus communication and safety contactors

still a lot of cleanups to do so other photos will follow later-

How we handle issues matters alot. When your customer has to come to an open forum to shame you then you dropped the ball. I have had transaction with members on here where issues came up with used product I bought and sold but in all cases there were resolved back stage. In fact I once had juo send me another battery from Lag to abuja (at his cost) when the OG one had issues, in honor of warranty he offered. Heck he even sent it before I returned the defective batteries. There was no fight and it was he who advised I return the batteries for a better one. Also I got some panels from baressi and when I noticed some defect we both worked out the best way forward without as much has a voice raised in anger. Till date we are still friends on good terms. Myself too when a user bought my farely used pwm controller. I sent him another one and confirm it was working. Issues come up. How we handle them matters alot. Your customer should be a friend and a brother. Do all you can to avoid breaking that bridge.

Loving your new batteries and Inverter. We are bringing in some Victron Energy and Growatt Lithium batteries. We will be installing them very soon. We had the option of the BYD, but the form factor did not appeal to the customer. We hope to do a LG next year as well.
Keep flying the flag. The ability to fast charge those batteries appeal to me more than anything else.

Which of the lithium technology is better? Is it better than NiFe? Read somewhere that NiFe has lifespan of 50yrs.
In terms of ease of use, longevity, pay-back time.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by DMerciful(m): 9:25pm On Nov 05, 2017
I once posted on this forum that NiFe batteries are awesome due to longevity of about 50years based on research. Challenge is that they are freaking expensive. Next is Lithium Iron Phophate.

For longevity, safety and extreme temperature (-20 to 55 deg Celcius), Lithium Titanate Oxide (LTO) battery is the best of the Lithium battery family.

With cycle life >10,000cycles at 80% DOD, they can be fast charged from 0-90% in less than 10 minutes at 10C without thermal runaway. The only down side is that they are quite expensive.

I have somethings off my sleeves concerning LTO batteries. I might have limited quantity to sale soon, being leftovers from a classified project.

Please stay tuned on this channel for the announcement in Jan/Feb, 2018

Please crosscheck first Growatt may not be rated for off grid use - Many batteries like LG /Samsung /Tesla cannot be used purely off grid only in ESS due to limited current

even BYD recommends one 2.5 KWH for ESS and atleast 3no. 2.5 KWH for Offgrid . Even though one 2.5 KWH battery is enough to carry 5 KW at 25 DEG C for short time

As I reported 4 of my BYD together are reporting 130 amps continuous discharge current at 30 DEG . this limit is dynamic and informed by the battery to inverter.

These are golden words Bigrovar and very apt advice at this time.

I am sure Kiekie is seeing all the feedback both online and offline and working on improving his after sales support and customer service etiquette - in fairness to all, no one whether saint or demon wants to make a loss on a transaction as much as possible and this is often what honoring a warranty claim entails - someone somewhere ultimately has to bear the cost of making things good again and its only human to try to wriggle out of it sometimes or be slow to make things right.

In the last two weeks, I am personally aware of two warranty cases involving Kiekie and I can say that after mediation he stepped up and made things good - if this will be the trend going forward, then people will be happy dealing with him and hopefully the people with good experiences will come back and drop positive reviews again - it will be a happy world when he starts resolving warranty issues and claims with the same speed and efficiency with which he makes equipment supplies. With all the feedback and advice received, we should be seeing a new and improved person very soon.

As I reported 4 of my BYD together are reporting 130 amps continuous discharge current at 30 DEG . this limit is dynamic and informed by the battery to inverter.

Hello Pranil. Thank you for the update. LG does not do off grid use with the Victron however GoodWe supports it in off grid use. Growatt only supports the use of their inverters in off grid mode. They don't recommend using it with any other inverters.
GoodWe has the same recommendations for the BYD batteries as BYD. They have minimum KWH that they recommend on their inverters.

Thanks for the headsup.

Oga Pranil - I hail o.

You have taken your RE journey to some impressive heights. I am truly in awe of what you have accomplished.

But on a lighter note in your absence, your house will need a thick user manual to navigate through all the gadgets and technology you have deployed o grin

I am truly inspired to see how you spare no expense to try out your ideas and share the knowledge freely on here.

Really really great one Sir.

Latest News from Tapeta street Home Project

A more mechanically talented guy from my office helped me install ( actually he did the install I just watched ) over two days this weekend the first wind turbine

I was also in parallel installing the BYD LIfepo4 batteries – 10 KWh 48 V

See video for turbine in operation -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI84Xa_9LA4

It is a cheap Chinese make horizontal axis wind Turbine rated 200 Watt /24 V DC connected to the drivers /maids room through an off grid setup of 3 KWH . It is also augmented by 800 watt of Solar PV
Cut in Speed 2 m/s - rated 11 m/s - Installation location - 9.078 7.482 , 492 m+ 14 meters
weather history - https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=IABUJA3#history/tgraphs/s20171106/e20171106/mdaily

I have also on order a Vertical Axis 300 Watt wind turbine to compare. Will be installed next year

Now I have Four different RE models running in the same house

1. Pure Offgrid – 24 V DC Solar PV+ Wind – AGM batteries – 3KWH. 0.8 Kwp Solar
2. DC coupled Hybrid – Grid + Solar PV + Diesel, 48 V Flooded lead acid , 20 KWh( 10 KVA peak) – 2.5 Kwp solar
3. AC coupled Grid Tie ( normally running in islanding mode daytime) - Solar PV +Diesel Hybrid + Micro Grid inverter ,Lithium batteries – 10 KWh ( 5 KW peak) , 48 V DC – 3 Kwp Solar
4. Solar thermal – 120 Litters EV tube water heater with PV Solar assisted 1.5 Kwp heater and 100 watt water boost pressure pump
